Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very nice and clean. Free breakfast. We had a huge room with 2 bedrooms with their own bathroom, kitchen and living room. This hotel is dog friendly. Would definitely stay here again. Nice layout and landscaping of the property. 30 minutes from Great Adventure.

My husband & I spent a Sat.-Mon. in a comfy, spacious 2 BR suite, booking last minute due to an electrical outage at our condo complex. It was the only hotel with availability that had a full kitchen. I was hesitant to book after reading dreadful Trip Advisor Reviews yet am so pleased I did. We are selective individuals & did not experience any of the issues mentioned in recent reviews. The main office & dining area were spotless & check in with Tonya was a breeze. She was welcoming and described hours of breakfast, the pool, gym etc. We were assigned a 2nd floor suite that appeared newly renovated & had generous supply of towels, perfect shower/water pressure, comfy bed & every amenity needed to cook full meals. The suite (#1623) was quiet & felt perfectly safe; occasionally we’d hear housekeeping staff or a neighbor passing yet only during waking hours. We strongly recommend the Sonesta ES Princeton; the value for the price was amazing!

It has been a trying year for all of us with the inception of the Pandemic and continuing its path into December. We have confronted Covid 19, and stared it in the face. Today we have the hope of the proverbial vaccines. As WE know one of the industries that took a huge hit were the Hotels and Hospitality worlds.

I stayed at the Princeton ES Suites in Mid March, and the Sonesta Staff quickly adjusted to our new reality of masks, social distancing, with cleanliness and hygiene practices that have always been part of the Sonesta protocol. Most of us left to where we were from, and we shuttered into our routines in our now familiar virtual world. I was not able to leave México until July and return to Princeton. It is comforting to know that a place like the Sonesta ES Suites Princeton did not loose a beat, and rose up to the challenge: adjusting and excelling in our "Brave New World".

The Sonesta was immaculate as usual with an emphasis on cleaning, social distancing, and great service. I felt SAFE and the Sonesta staff never complained while meeting this phenomena head on. I made another trip in August through mid October and more guests were back, and obviously coming in like a "Field of Dreams": If you build it right and treat the people well, they will come to this "Clean Well Lighted Place" that the Sonesta is.

I returned to the Princeton Sonesta in December, and the Christmas, Hanukkah, and Holiday decorations were beautiful and appropriate.I have been staying at the Princeton Sonesta for years, and I know everyone by name, and they should all be recognized including their fearless leader and Manager , Bobbie Lal, and Adam her ever excellent Assistant Manager, and all of the Reception and Sales Staff who are consummate pros including: Heiday, Bernie, Tobin, Suren and Katerina and of course Housekeeping lead by Nicole and Carlos, and followed by Aida, and Maria and Greg and George in Maintenance working Tirelessly! And as THEY all Know: I'll be back soon to the Sonesta ES in Princeton.

Worst hotel experience I’ve had, ever. And I’ve done a lot of traveling… I will try to keep the list about my “family suite” short:
1. No lock on the bedroom door, which means your kids can come in unannounced.
2. Lock on bathroom door was broken.
3. Black mold on all the air vents, some that’s clearly been painted over to “fix” it, and some other mold on the bathroom ceiling.
4. A/C blew all the air into the living area, barely anything in the bedroom, and besides that making it very hard for everyone to be comfortable, that becomes a real problem because of my next points.
5. Kids bed doesn’t come with blankets, just a sheet. When we went to the front desk to ask for blankets, they said we have to “buy them.” Then we reluctantly agreed and they said, “they’re sold out.” So no blanket for them.
6. The pull out bed for the kids was awful - rusted and falling apart. There were literally rust stains all over the “mattress” - I say “mattress” because it is an ancient, limp piece of grossness with no padding at all.
7. Apparently they “don’t clean on weekends.” That includes not restocking any towels. What’s the point of staying at a hotel versus anywhere else if they don’t clean and restock your room? So I asked for towels and they said, “come by in 30 min and we will see if we have them.” What?!
8. There’s a smell… just a nasty smell in the room… probably from the not working A/C and bits of mold around it.
Stay away from this place. Totally unacceptable.

They gave run down dirty and smelly room to extended stay guests and when you check out, they charged you an unreasonable amount of money. Beware, make sure you take pictures before and after to protect yourself. They told you that they are going to replace the furniture when you submit your complaint and you do not need to worry. However when you checked out, they said you have to pay for brand new mattresses. The condition of the room for the same price, you can have a much better experience at other extended hotels.

Totally disgusting. This is not a hotel it’s a motel and I’m being kind trust me. I don’t even know where to start. So when you first check in they make you give an upfront $250 security deposit. Next the hallway rugs are all stained. One door was being held open by a dirt laundry basket and another by a dirty face cloth wedge under it. Stains everywhere in our room. Bathroom dirty. Listen moms out there it is not safe for your children to stay here. Sonesta ES means extended stay which mean there are really weird people who are actually living here. It is not safe to walk around. You know those crappy motels on the side of a highway. Well this one just photoshopped their website pictures really well. Not one looks like this place. I spent $300 on two sleeping bags, two pillows/pillow cases and two comforters because I refused to sleep in the bed. I bought another $50 worth of cleaning products. Why I didn’t leave? They had $600 of my money that was non refundable. We were just passing through so we just did our best to get through it. Never never again

An awful experience for a joyous occasion . Everything is run down here. The furniture in the two bedroom suite looked like odds and ends leftover from other rooms: mismatched cheap vinyl couch and chair and mismatched sized wooden stools sitting in front of them. Bathrooms were disgusting with hairs on the floors and urine stains on the door. (See pics) The breakfast is awful—brown bananas and green oranges. The high rating is from the past when the place was new. Nothing has been maintained. And their picture of what a room looks like is laughable. Even the attendant at the front desk was aghast when I showed her the bathroom pictures. I would never stay here again.

Dishonesty! The room we booked was not delivered to us. Even though the reservation stated exactly the number of beds, the attendant did not consider the reservation and was extremely rude and rude.
I had never seen a situation like this!

In addition to a bleak breakfast, the hotel only cleans rooms weekly(!), supposedly due to covid (despite it not transmitting on surfaces). Shame because the rooms are spacious but no housekeeping is unacceptable for the room rate.
Also wifi didn’t work in the room, and rather than the front desk fixing it, I was told to call the service provider myself.

I went to this hotel for a mini vacation with family, hoping to use the pool. But was told that the pool was close. However, we adjusted by staying in the room. It was cleaned when we arrived. The layout was nice and spacious. I had an issue with the Wifi in the bedroom had a bad connection. Limited utensils and supply in the kitchen. The little mini market in the front desk was too expensive. I brought 2 small bottles of juice (4 oz) for $8.00. I will go back again when the pool is open for their guests.

Are these frequent problems at this hotel? I am getting worried, since we will be staying there soon.
Answer from Pieter F

I have stayed in the SONESTA ES SUITES more than 15 times over the past few years! As stated in the previous POST, we have a "very clean well lighted space!" I personally have not seen anything out of the ordinary, and I do spend a lot of time in my room, and almost always cook in the evening where everything is in working order, and you have a full size refrigerator, and ice maker...If and when there is a tiny problem such as a clogged drain, JEFF, FERNANDO and company are there, and the problem is resolved! In any hotel in the world there is occasionally a problem, and considering the price you are paying, and the fact that I have not had anything to worry about, ALLAY YOUR FEARS, and chill, and take a dip in the pool, and visit Miss Irene, and she will give you a cold Stella Artois!
