Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice hotel, very nice pet friendly room. Bed and bathroom were clean. (Most important to me) the set up was nice with a kitchenette. The outside area was clean. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful.

We had a “Small” fire the night we stayed, it was on the first floor, we were on the third. The alarm was so loud! (Guess that’s good) while I was walking around with my dog I got to the back of the building and a woman came running towards me waving her hands telling me to turn around because her dog would “attack my dog, he will get lose, he has done it before” I think this was a couple who lived there with three dogs, Didn’t really feel safe after that, guess not hotels fault.

Clean and tidy. Kitchen great for families or long stays. Was great for a stopover to get to New York. Great parking and free. Hairdryer wasn't working, staff should check everything in rooms work daily. Good price. Worth the stay.

Average place to stay. Have good amenities like free self laundry (you only have to buy detergent), free wifi, free parking, full kitchen and gym. No daily housekeeping but you can change towels at reception as needed.
There were flaws: we had smoking free room but every time I entered the room, it smelled like cigarettes. Fridge had some mold looking stuff along the edges. AC would start making loud noises in middle of night. For the price it was ok but would look at other places in similar budget next time.

I have given this dingy place the benefit of the doubt over the past year and half, and have sent my employees there for training with an auto manufacturer. We have sent a business check every visit, and my employees have secured the room with their own card, or mine and paid at the end with a check generated by my business. This particular visit, they let my employee check in and now are telling him that they wont accept the check. They say it's company policy. I have used a check for the past 8 visits, the general manager named Sophia Muro could not have been less helpful, and to be frank just rude. I spoke to the corporate end who said company policy is to accept business checks but not personal checks. Now she will not accept it because I reported it to corporate, and is clearly being a snotty poor loser. Safe to say that I will not be sending any of my employees back, and will be sure to let the Manufacturer that I send my employees Corporate Office know that this is the case. Do not stay here unless you want to deal with inept employees and have a cheap, crummy hotel experience.

We used Sonesta points for this (no cash out of pocket) and felt we overpaid.

We were traveling with our adult daughter and thought a suite with a separate bedroom would be perfect. BIG problem: The hvac control is in the living room and there is NO vent in the bedroom. So the bedroom was warm and stuffy, making sleeping very difficult. The building itself is an eyesore.

Some positives: bathroom passed the throne test with flying colors; lighting was decent; towels, considering the price point, were satisfactory. Room itself was decent sized. Check in/out was quick and pleasant.

Hotel is cool…even pet friendly. Never coming back tho. The incidental fee is 250. I looked at the pin pad and it says 250 and I’m thinking i know I prepaid for the room, I look next to keypad and it says 250 incidental fee. I know you get that back after a few days but gotdamn that’s too much for a 2 star hotel.

First off let me say that the photos that are previously posted are misleading because that’t not how it looks now. They are old. I just left there snd have stayed there for months.
If you’re looking for a quality place to stay that’s relaxing and reasonably priced, this is not it. The hotel just finished “remodeling” and let mw tell you, they should get their money back. They got played. The hotel staff is nice enough but are inept at their job. When I first spoke to their “manager” to get an extended stay price, he gave me a fairly decent one or so I thought. The price was for a room that was for your typical room, not a one bedroom suite on the third floor near the elevator. While I was in that room, I could hear the elevator make a constant whining noise. So I moved to the first floor, a bigger room. I asked about the price, I was told there wouldn’t be an increase. Meaning I paid the bigger room price for my smaller room. There were several instances where people would be yelling, running down hall ways, banging on different doors throughout the night and when complained against nothing was done. There would be people stomping up stairs for hours and again nothing done. There is a difference between walking hard and stomping. When the hotel help said they called, the stomping got worse. No one would cone and listen, they’d just say they already called. There’re notices every where about smoking cigarette and pot every where yet I’d smell it constantly in my room. And agin nothing done. The photos I posted are after the “renovations”. High price for a 1 star. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because they didn’t increase my rent and they were niceish.

We're so shocked to hear that you didn't have a good time with us overall. You stayed with us pleasantly for about 2 years. Many times, guests make noise, and we try our best to control them. When you had noise complaints, we either moved the guest or moved you as per your liking, as you were one of our best guests at the hotel. We kept the room rate the same for the bigger room as a courtesy to you, our long-term guest. We still have your colleague staying with us pleasantly with no complaints. We spent hundreds and thousands to improve the overall conditions of the hotel for a better hospitality experience for guests like you. Hence, we are really shocked to hear your disappointments as they were not conveyed in any shape and form during your stay with us. We would have certainly taken all necessary steps to rectify any discomfort to you if the issues were conveyed to us. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience. All of your feedback is gratefully received. However, please contact one of the management team members in the future so we can correct any issues immediately. Thank you! Management

Front desk had a poor attitude. Behaved like they were doing you a favor when you would request linen.

Rooms are dated. Haven't seen a lick of paint since it was built. Curtains and carpet smell of mildew. AC maintenance also lacking.

Worse still, they increased the rate without authorization. Management team refused to help.

This place lacks the basics. Customer care doesn't exist. They're hot there too please the customer, but fill their pockets. No redeeming qualities.Avoid at all cost.

We had an awesome vacation and coming back in 2 months. Very nice hotel and very pet friendly and clean. The staff was the best. Guy is the Supervisor of the front desk and so is De'Andrea the assistant manager. She really helped me set up my computers to be able to do my job for 2 weeks. Daniery and Tiffany at the front desk were friendly and very helpful and wonderful people to deal with.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the somerset area. Great value, Very clean and Great hotel, wonderful staff and very pet friendly..Great value for your money

We arrived & saw they were under construction. They handed out chocolate hammers with "sorry for the incontinence" bags. We went to the room, it was clean, but had paint spatter all over the bathroom floor. The room looked as if it was one of the finished renovated rooms.
The following morning, my husband left the room to get something out of the car. As he left, he put the magnet that says "do not disturb" on the outside of the door. I didn't use the bar lock because my husband was returning within minutes.
I went to get into the shower. I hear, "hello! I" I peeked around the corner & JOHN (I found out his name later) said, "oh, I'm sorry" I screamed and jumped back into the bathroom.
When we went to the front desk, I was informed that John, didnt do anything wrong. "He saw my husband leave, so he would assume that it was ok to enter."
When asked, he had given no reason as to why he was in the room.

So regardless, if you have a sign saying 'don't enter'
Even though he heard the tub water running,
Even though he had no reason to be in the room - its ok to enter.

I've stayed at many Candlewood Suites. I've always liked them because of privacy, laundry services, gym and the pantry. I don't recommend this location to anyone. They humiliated me, by saying JOHN didn't do anything wrong.
