Hotel's Favourite
Overall, great stay, even though it's just been a few hours stay, it was easy, convenient and comfortable, gym was pretty good and the indoor pool quite like I was expecting it from a Hilton. Coffee shop and snack bar was also fine, room was comfortable and cosy, slept quite well.

Staying at this location before, I was pleased to stay once again. My last stay was in the Fall 2020. They had just re-opened their restaurant, had an outdoor pool open (Their indoor pool is still closed), and appropriately had room cleaning service. Its right off 287, making it very easily accessible from a major highway. Depending on one's route, its about 30-45 minutes from NYC without traffic. Staten Island and South Amboy are even closer. Sandy Hook National Park was about 40 minutes away with some great beaches. While the hotel is not right off the doorstep of the major nearby cities, its still within fairly decent driving distances.
The hotel complex is a large one with different wings. Like others have noted, its a little bit dated but nothing terrible. The room that I had this time was very clean, modern, and was refreshing. The bathroom was a little small but not a big thing for me. Those with big families might want to see if there are larger options available. One can be given a room that has a very far walking distance to elevators, so be sure to ask for one closer. The hotel was a closed indoor pool and an out door pool. I loved the outdoor pool which I had never used before (usually stay during winter or fall months). A casual restaurant is on premise and they have a small convenience shop with limited food items.
The area around the hotel is very nice and scenery and Its located within a business parks with fountains and ponds. One can sit out on patios and benches while watching birds. Next door to the hotel was a new building being constructed but it wasn't distracting. Parking was free at the hotel and plentiful. I love the location area as one can get away from Newark, NYC, and other areas still be within close by distances (not knocking the cities, just enjoy being out in the country sometimes).
Nearby is a small town with a downtown area with several restaurants. Easton Avenue runs below the hotel all the way to New Brunwsick where there are some great restaurants and shops. Along Easton avenue are stores to purchase any needed items.
If one doesn't need the newest hotel facilities, doesn't mind a short drive to destinations, and likes being out in the semi rural areas of NJ, this can be a nice hotel to stay at. Often the prices are very good and nearby 287 can take you directly to 95. If goes without saying that one really needs a car to access this hotel as there aren't really any walk-able places to see nearby.
During my stay I traveled to several areas near Newark, Newark itself, South Amboy, and other NJ areas. Avoiding traveling at rush hour can be helpful.
The hotel was a relaxing place to spend nights at while unwinding. Definitely worth checking out if one has a car.

Placed well away from Newark and NYC, this hotel is a great place to get away when traveling to the tri state area. Its a large, business class hotel with tons of rooms, a restaurant, and easy access to the local highway. Before Covid the hotel had numerous conventions and events but upon my stay it was very empty. The staff went out of their way to make sure everything was clean and disinfected. Call ahead if the pool or other facilities are of interest. Also be sure to check with NJ travel advisory if your state is restricted.
The hotel is easily reached by car and free parking is available on site. If one is traveling around Central and Northern NJ as well as NYC, its a fairly distance location but still easily drive able. The restaurant is fairly decent and offers typical casual dining fare. They also have onsite cloth washing facilities if needed.
For my stay the room was great with a mini fridge. Wifi access was fairly good and the room was easily reached from the elevator. Since this is a fairly large hotel, one's room location may vary. The bed was comfortable and clean.
For the casual business traveler with a car, its a great location to stay out in a suburban area not surrounded by countless strip malls. A small historic town is nearby with restaurants and shops.

Recently I had an excellent and refreshingly ‘reassured “stay” that was extended due to a pleasant surprise for a standard king to a free upgrade to my preferential junior king suite accommodation from my actual pre pandemic booking history. This, coupled by the hotels reinstating of the lobby atrium Starbucks counter with an albeit ‘limited staff & amenities’ far exceeded my expectations for a brief 2-3 day amended reservation. As a long term patron of the hotel and a Hilton Diamond status repeat VIP guest, I always appreciate every small detail accommodation as a recollection by the staff that exemplifies a standard of excellence in hospitality for the Doubletree hotel; from extra towels, toiletries, to the refrigerator/microwave and my consistent request for DND of services both “pre and post” COVID19 pandemic conditions.

I called prior to booking the room and was provided false information
1. I was informed that the indoor pool is open for use, which wasn't the case
2. Customer service had confirmed that in-room breakfast would be available as an option and we would be able to order it the night before. The chef and front desk said that there's no in room service since months and that the only option would be to come down and eat from the buffet. After speaking to the restaurant manager and making a case of complete dissatisfaction, he finally agreed to proving a box to carry breakfast from the buffet. This was a big reason for me to choose the hotel in the first case, since it is hard to do a sit down restaurant meal with toddler kids who wouldn't wear masks and run around.
It was pretty upsetting that the reception offered a partial refund at 10PM since I was dissatisfied, but wouldn't help with allowing me to take a box of food from the breakfast buffet. My kids had already gone off to sleep anyways.
In addition, the room smelled of smoke even though it was a non-smoking room. We never complained since the kids had settled in already.
As a good gesture, I appreciate offering a refrigerator for the kids food in the room and the late checkout.
Overall though, not a place I would want to go back to stay again.

We were staying over to celebrate our friend’s wedding. The hotel is located in a very scenic area of Northern NJ and very accessible of the major roads. The hotel staff was very nice and our lunch was good but not great. The Rubin sandwich was missing the secret sauce and the French fries were over salted. The service was good but not great.
The wedding was much better and everyone had a great time. Everything was planned correctly but the food was just average. The same applied to the brunch on the following day. While we had a good time, the staff and service could be improved based on cost and location for such an event.

I visited the hotel with a couple other families for a last summer fun weekend before school.
I was going to write a pros and cons but really it was all pros.
The room was clean, staff was friendly, pool was clean and organized according to covid rules. My kids swam, played tennis and basketball. Grounds and hotel were spacious enough to keep everyone covid comfortable and mask wearing was enforced in the building.
The hotel is pretty, updated and well cared for.
As a Hilton gold member, I was given a free available upgrade as well as money to spend at Starbucks. My whole family( teenagers included) was happy.
The manager Sharif made my group very comfortable and found us a safe nice place to be together.
My only recommendation would be for a hallway garbage pickup a couple times a day ( perhaps late-night)during the weekend.

A $200 room that does not include breakfast and then charging $16.00 is ridiculously expensive. The bar staff in the restaurant could not be understood and lacked communication skills. You had a page of beers on your menu, with only a few selections available.
While I understand there was a large party consuming significant amount of alcohol you facility was poorly stocked and poorly staffed.

I usually stay at Hamptons with my Hilton membership, but tried Double Tree. While I missed the free continental breakfast, different hotels different policy’s, there paid breakfast buffet looked delicious. Stayed on 6 th floor, it was so quiet I thought we were the only ones on the floor. The room was clean, beds comfortable(very important to me). The front desk people were somewhat robotic, except for one, who was extremely helpful and always had a smile on her face, thanks Nicole you made the stay so much more pleasant. Overall this was a great stay. We stayed mid- week and it is a convention, wedding party location, so weekends may be different. Close to major roadway’s and NJ transit to NY City.

Overall a nice property. Might be time to update the mattresses and pillows. There was a stain on the ottoman cushion but the room was otherwise clean. The feather pillows smelled slightly musty, making me wish I’d asked for foam pillows (this was an option when I booked).

No. Unfortunately. Only the outdoor pool is open.
I’m not sure
only at double tree will you find pubic hairs in the tub
Most of the remodeling seemed done when I was there a few months ago, but It is overall a nice property in a quiet setting, though the hotel building is older, it was kept up nicely. It's definitely not new and modern like a brand new Home2suites, but I think it's a nice hotel.
Mr Lavila20
Thanks for choosing DoubleTree as part of your travel plans. As long as your brother's name is on the reservation he should be able to check in. In order to change the dates I will recommend you to call the hotel (732-469-2600) and ask to speak to a manager on duty.
Best regards
