Detailed Reviews
We stayed in a 2 bedroom/ 2 bathroom suite. I love that the Residence Inn offers this room type - haven’t found another hotel that does this. Suite was spacious and clean, large common area with fireplace and kitchen in between the two bedrooms. You can check out the suite configuration on their website.
Only a couple of minor problems - soap and shampoo dispensers were nearly empty and our tv remote did not work.
Breakfast hours were over at 9 so there was a mad dash of people and lines forming at 8:30, with food choices dwindling. While it was a Monday, this was over the holiday week with lots of families in the hotel, so I think weekend breakfast hours should have been adopted and food replenished. Would have given this 5 star rating except for the breakfast. We enjoyed our stay and definitely recommend the hotel.

I arrived for a two night stay on the 9th. Reception person was very friendly and quick to get us checked in after a long travel day. I originally reserved for the 10th-11th but needed to also reserve a room for the 9th. I mentioned this when I checked in and he said that he would make sure the 2 reservations would be handled as if only 1 reservation were made and would leave a note for morning reception.
When my wife and I arrived for breakfast the next morning at around 8:45, I stopped by the desk and asked if we could check out and check in for our Saturday stay, The receptionist said she had already done so and we were all set. I gave her my room keys which she re-swiped and off to breakfast I went.
I was a little confused at the breakfast. It was almost like they were still trying to address Covid protocols and employee shortages at the same time. Anyway, there was an employee handing out breakfast sandwiches, I think they were Jimmy Dean brand but really can't remember. They were microwaved but all in all were actually pretty good. There was packaged orange juice, a very good variety of boxed cereals, coffee, tea, breads for toasting and pastries, fresh fruit and yogurt. It was more than enough to get us ready for the day ahead.
The room was great with all the items normally found at a Residence Inn property. The only thing I didn't care for was the vanity is set outside the bathroom, so lights go on instead of allowing a few extra minutes of sleep if the vanity and shower were in the same area.
The hotel is showing its age and hopefully scheduled for some furniture and rug replacements especially rugs in the hallways which were worn out.
I would definitely stay here again should my travels take me to the area. There are many restaurants and take-outs located within a mile of the hotel which is an added convenience, and the Interstate is located a mile away offering connections to anywhere you're heading.

Our family of 4 stayed for 6 nights while visiting nearby relatives. Convenient location for us. We loved the extra space and 2 bathrooms with our 12 and 15 year olds. Room was clean, but we could see it’s age and it could use an upgrade. Free breakfast was just fine for us, there were different hot selections every day plus cereal, yogurt, bagels, milk, etc. We did use the full kitchen for snacks and to reheat leftovers. Staff was friendly.

Well maintained property. Rooms clean and nicely furnished. Bathrooms could use updating. Front office staff very accommodating and professional. Daniel, was helpful in recommending local eateries. Hotel not convenient to interstates. A little bit of a hassle to reach.

Out dated hotel and we wouldn’t stay again. Nice suites but needs work.A bonus you can walk to a restaurant. We hate when we get a late check out and they staff knocks with a do not disturb.Low water pressure, there’s better choices in the area.

I was visiting The Residence Inn in Somerset New Jersey on a vaction trip, and I must say this Hotel was one of the best Hotels I've stayed in, in along time. The Hotel in itself was like a home away from home. My suite was immaculante, the room was very spacious and clean. The Staff Sennatha, Flora, Fatou, Yustin and the General Manager Jeffery were very attentive, professional and extremely helpful.

Been living in this hotel for two plus months...the staff is extremely attentive. But the rate for this period of time is high. Clean comfortable space...breakfasts could be a bit more creative, so could there evening snacks...

We decided to stay at this hotel after reading the reviews and were horribly disappointed. Let me start by saying that I am a loyal Marriott customer and have never had an issue at Marriott before.
I’m surprised Marriott keeps this hotel open. The description on Marriott’s website doesn’t match the room. Our suite was almost 100 sq ft smaller than what’s stated on the website. The website states that one rollaway is allowed, so we requested one when we made our reservation. It turns out the rooms are too small so rollaways aren’t permitted (something to do with fire code). There’s also no oven in the room (my son is on a very restricted diet, so we need more than a microwave when we’re traveling).
The carpet in both rooms in our suite was soaking wet, literally squishing when we walked. When we called the front desk they said that the dishwasher had overflowed. If they knew that, why didn’t they clean up the water before putting guests in the room? We moved to another room. I called for extra pillows and was told “no” because we already had 5 pillows in the suite. I was literally speechless. I have never had a request for extra pillows denied (which, by the way, is in my Marriott profile so they should have been in the room when we got there). We didn’t see any bed bugs, but neither my son nor I could sleep well because we started itching all over almost as soon as we lay down on the beds. We had reservations for 3 nights but left after 1. I will never stay there again.

Stayed overnight on a business trip. I have to say that this is a nice property. The front desk staff were there even though I showed up pretty late. The suite looked it was recently done. The room was quiet and the bed was super comfortable. The breakfast was good also. However, wish they served oatmeal instead of grits. Who eats grits in the north east? Definite kudos to the staff at this property.

It's at least an 1 hour or 2+ depending on what beach you are coming from. I know from the Jersey shore is about 1h 5min from there so just expect a drive. I hope that helps.
As long as you have ID and a Credit card it should be OK.
