Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have been an avid camper my entire life starting as a kid going to The Thousand Islands for a month each year as well as places in NJ like Timberland Lake Campground as well as many other around the country. TGD keeps a good stock of needed items in their store as well as ice , wood etc and a laundry room. They have plenty of restrooms around the campground and they are nicer than the one in my camper. If you have a need they jump on it right away such as ice or wood delivery. The sites are well kept no bugs, ticks or overgrowth of weeds. The staff is always friendly and willing to help .There is a gameroom, basketball court, lake with canoes where you can also fish. There are trails for hiking and biking .There is live music every weekend as well as events for the kids such as archery , family painting and crafts. I could go on forever about the great job the owners do to make everyone's experience a good one. I have brought many family members as well as friends here over the years and they all loved it so much that they come back on their own. I rarely write reviews but felt to need to write one based on some of the negative reviews I see on here . If you have a bad experience here it is probably because you were the problem. I think their overall rating speaks for itself . Only one way to find out! book it!

Beautiful campground! We stayed in one of the covered wagons - so cool! Everything was clean and well maintained. Beautiful views on a cliff overlooking the lake. Staff was great and very accommodating during the pandemic (contactless check in/out, brought wood/ice to our site, use of our own bathroom). We can't wait to go back and experience this campground when it is fully operational.

Hi Lizz! We are so happy that you loved our covered wagons. They are definitely a one of a kind experience. Covid-19 made many things very challenging so we tried to make your camping experience not only stress free but safe as well. We would love to have you again. Thank you, TGD

We have been to The Great Divide a handful of times and it always is one of our favorite trips of our camping season! Even this year, with Covid19 being on everyone's mind, you thought of everything. The check-in process was super easy and we loved that everything was emailed to us prior to our stay so we didn't have to think about it when we got there. Your events were safe, clean and fun for the whole family. It was awesome that you offered site delivery, from firewood to ice to everything in between if we didn't feel comfortable shopping in the store. Your staff is wonderful. They are friendly, knowledgeable and such hard workers. The campground is so clean and the sites are very well maintained. We always enjoy your theme weekends and come with 3-4 other families. All of us can't wait to come back. We already planned at least one trip back for 2021!

What a kind and thoughtful review! Covid19 was difficult for many of us so with that in mind we tried to make our check-in process clean, simple, and most importantly safe for our staff and our valued guests! We are so happy that we were able to provide you an enjoyable and safe getaway. We can’t wait to see you again at your next reservation! Thank you, TGD

Our 4rth state in our 5 state trip is New Jersey! We wanted to see Delaware Water Gap NRA & I found a campground by Newton called The Great Divide.
This is a private campground. Very scenic with a small lake, a pond & surrounded by woods. This is also the 2nd most expensive campground on our trip at $96.11 a night.

Lots to do for families - they have kayaks for camper use. Horseshoes, tether ball, volleyball, a playground, a dog park. There's a swimming beach.
One strange thing is There's a lot of tent sites & they seemed popular. For the amount of tent/popup sites they only have 1 shower per loop. They are very clean & checked often, but they're used heavily during the weekend. I had better luck Sunday evening. A bench outside the bathroom would have been nice to sit & wait.
The rv sites were all full hookup on our loop.

We came in on a Friday & found out this campground ROCKS!!! They have live bands every Friday & Saturday night during the warm months. This might explain the higher rates. Party on!

We have traveled the east coast camping and always come "HOME" to
TGD . Although it is only 35min from our home we feel like we are "away from it all"... BUT , if we want to be involved there is always something to do ! We visit TGD about 3 times per camping season and we always feel welcome when we arrive. The entire staff is PRICELESS !!! We have dealt with maintenance, office and delivery staff with excellent service every time ! Even staff driving by our camp site wave and smile !
We have been camping at TGD over 7 years and will continue to do so for as long as we can.

On the weekends this place really fills up! We were here through two weekends, and it was so quiet during the week, and a different story on the weekends. Great place for family fun though.

It's definitely more a "campground" than an RV park. It's only 30 amps, and we knew that going in, so that's okay - we can make it work. But then as a hot weekend was approaching, they emailed that you should turn your A/C warmer to prevent a total meltdown of the system. The email said to remember we're camping and "roughing it". Well, we live in our RV full-time, so no, we're not roughing it.

The campground roads are deplorable! They need to put some money into them. Definitely not suitable for a motorhome!

On the plus side, we had excellent wifi while there. It may have helped that we were right across from a wifi box, so I don't know about the rest of the campsites.

Hey there! We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Mid-Week camping is definitely a little more quiet compared to staying on weekends when we have live entertainment and a bunch of planned activities. During your stay, we did experience an extended period of high temperatures. During these periods, our local power company lowers the voltage coming into the campground. In order to avoid outages within the campground, we ask our guests to conserve power. We are working with JCPL to upgrade our services so our guests won't experience any outages during extreme heat. One of our longtime wishes is to upgrade the roads within the campground, though this is not an easy task as we do sit at the foothills of the Appalachian mountains and we are not a flat campground. We have done upgrades on our WIFI to make it more accessible throughout the campground. Thank you for the feedback! TGD

Terrible customer service. They have a policy of "kindness" which is their response to an agrevating issue. Be careful, they advertise weekend activities which is only for Friday and Saturday nights. Sunday apparently is not part of the weekend. False advertising!!!

https://www.campthegreatdivide.com/events/list/ We post a detailed list of our events for each weekend. Sorry no Sunday listed! This has to be the best 1 star review ever and we love it. Are you really upset that we have a policy of kindness? Or is it that a small family owned business has core values that prevent us from bowing down to bullying, intimidation, threats and bribery. Kindness helps us determine if we should put up with a customer trying to force us into giving them back money for a fabricated issue on a reservation since they are about to write a review. “I would like to know how you are going to compensate me before I write my review tonight”. You claimed to have an issue with the lock on your cabin yet when the maintenance staff inspected the doors they could get all the doors to lock to the outside. You were waiting your entire stay to let us know. You claim it ruined your whole trip and you couldn’t control your children leaving the cabin yet you couldn’t figure out how to call the number on the sign that say call us if you have any issues. Then you complained that the number took you to the main number not someone you could speak to at night even though the message clearly states that if you are having after hours issues to please call the following number. We asked you when you realized you were having an issue and you said right when you checked in but you didn’t hop on the phone to let anyone know. We love our core value of kindness and if it gets us a 1 star review from someone that doesn't like it that is more than ok with us. Ohhh and I almost forgot...our kindness works in the other direction as well. We choose kindness by not taking your security deposit since you left 2 rentals filthy and didn't make any attempt to following the departure instructions to keep your deposit!

Amazing experience. Best campsite ever. 30 mins from Del Water Gap. Clean bathrooms, friendliest staff imaginable, clean pool, free kayaks, complimentary arts and crafts for the kids, art everywhere, playground, basketball, covered bridge, golf carts for rent - what more can you ask for? Oh and an arcade to boot (with reasonable prices - bring cash). I went for a music weekend over the summer and the experience was ideal. I've been to many festivals and this may be the greatest camp site for a festival in the world. Good for non festival days too. Can have weddings, parties, reunions, whatever. Weekly bingo and arts and crafts night. The barn is a really cool space with an arcade on the first floor, dining area, and dance floor upstairs. It's family run and they make you feel like family. Coming back 10000000%. Check their schedule during the summer - even if you're there during a music weekend the camp sites are far enough so you won't be disturbed.

The campground was well kept and safe. I liked that you needed a code to get in. Activities were posted and available to see on the tv screen. I usually stay away from camping at private campgrounds, preferring National and State Parks. The Great Divide Campground is an exception. I can’t wait to go back.

This is the second time we stayed here with my Grandkids, they love it. However their is a big lack of communication for pool hours and activities. They should have that information along with Wi Fi password on the map. It's geared more towards the seasonal campers, who are familiar with the schedules of activities, which again you don't know unless you walk to the office where they have the itinerary taped to the counter. This time we went they now offer Golf carts for a mere $380. F-S. The golf carts get out of control and the kids on the bikes have to be careful of them. Not to mention Sunday everything closes at 6pm so if your there for more than the weekend your out of luck. We usually camp KOA and they text you whenever something is going on, I guess we got spoiled.

Hello, If they are hard sided kayaks and you wear life jackets you may bring your own boats. They may not be left on the beach and have to either stay on a vehicle or at your campsite to protect your property. We look forward to your stay. You are going to love A14 it is beautiful! Thank you and see you soon!

There is a park and ride bus from Newton, NJ or the nearest train station would be Mount Arlington. It takes about 2 hours to get in from the campground.

There are things you can do to greatly reduced your chances of seeing a bear. Keep all food sealed and locked away. Take garbage to waste containers off your site. A bear doesn't want interaction with a human and by taking these small steps chances are you won't meet. Regards William

Hi Cara, The best site always depends on your individual preferences. When booking your site it is helpful for us to know if you prefer a grassy or gravel site, shaded or sunny, close to the main area or off the beaten path. Our sites are all very different from each other so we can usually find something to please everyone. D3 is a really great secluded site with it's own driveway. If you book that site we would park you on D4. Give us a call and we can walk you through some options based on availability! Thanks for your inquiry! Jan
