Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I don’t really have anything good or bad to say about this hotel. The rooms are pretty outdated, the beds are comfortable enough but not great and I’m pretty sure you can currently buy an iPad bigger than the televisions in the room.

The restaurant next door was good but overall I was unimpressed and ended up changing my reservation to leave early and move to a different hotel.

This was my first stay here, which was arranged by my friend, who was also staying at the same hotel. When we first arrived around 11:30am our room was not available. We went to Raymonds in Ridgewood for lunch. We returned here again after our lunch around 2:00pm. Only one room was available on the first floor, namely my king bed room 136, which was at the end of the hallway on the right. My first Sunday night was $136. My second Monday night was $131.

The air conditioner could not cool the room adequately during the 92 degree heat wave. Also a refrigerator was not available in our room. The 32-inch TV was also too small. As you can see from my pics our bathroom is in need of renovation. The bathroom was not fully stocked with enough towels for two people. Also the tissues ran out immediately. I went to the front desk to receive another face cloth and box of tissues. The indoor pool was closed, although we did not bring our swimwear. The complimentary breakfast was not spectacular, but acceptable.

On our second night the cleaning staff did not arrive until late in the afternoon when we returned to our room. We told them no need to clean our room, but, just give us fresh bath towels.

We were only here for two nights. I probably would not return here again, since I think I could find another alternative hotel in the same area in better condition for the same cost.

It was a rainey drive from NYC, we reached the hotel to be met by an associate who could make any trip pleasant. We checked in and were greeted with such warmth. Her willingness, ability and knowledge, to help make our stay better than expected given the current situation was impressive. She was patient and helped us get familiar with the location, within seconds. She deserves to be recognized for her effort to keep the Marriott name true to its standings. Dominique Charles-Martin is a WONDERFUL.

When I travel I’ve started just going to Mariott’s website and entering the town with never an issue. We picked here because I was looking for a weekend away at a reasonable price close to LEGOLAND. This is about 20 minutes away.

To start, room was clean. No issues there.

I booked a room for 2a2c (w/ a crib). Upon arriving I ask about the crib, which they have no record of. No biggie, they get the crib. I ask for sheets for said crib and I get asked why I didn’t bring my own.

I ask what time the pool is open until (one of the reasons for here was the indoor pool). It was closed. I was told it was on the website. For the record, I checked and it was….all the way at the bottom.

We return to the room later only to find our room was directly across from the bar that has live music until midnight on weekends.

Breakfast…well it was horrible. Warm milk and room temperature frozen sandwiches.

I did not say anything for a bit but it was bothering me so I emailed in my concerns. A few days later I get a invoice for my stay that night (as in the day I emailed). I obviously was not there so I call the hotel. Person answering cannot explain why and takes my number to call me back. They never do.

A few days later I’m charged $150 on my credit card. 5 more calls (yes 5, not a typo) and promises of call backs does the charge get reversed. Still no idea or explanation why it happened in the first place.

This is a crappy hotel. I've stayed twice. The facility is aged and items are often broken or hard to use. My thermostat was broken and the A/C would not stop. The toilet handle was so hard to push down I sometimes had to remove the lid and flush by lifting the chain in the tank. I asked them to send maintenance, but they never came.

Both times I stayed I was placed in a mobility enhanced room. The second time, doubting it was really the only available room, I asked if anything else was available. The desk clerk upgraded me to a suite, indicating that this was a major favor instead of what she was supposed to do for me as a Marriott Titanium member.

The breakfast is abysmal. Limited options. They frequently run out and are slow to refill them.

As others have mentioned, early check in via the app and Mobile key are not honored.

Hotel options in the immediate area are limited, but this is one of the worst.

A very clean, easy to get too, friendly staffed, fair priced hotel. It is situated near a nice residential neighborhood, so going out for a run is a pleasant experience (not worrying about dodging cars, busy streets, etc.). Nice little indoor poor and basic but plentiful breakfast.

It's an OK hotel, 3.5 stars. The room was standard size, clean and quiet, although a bit dated and showing signs of wear and tear such as a molding falling off in the bathroom, etc. But it's good for a short stay.

We have stayed here several times on our way home from a late JFK arrival and have been very pleased in every way. On this stay our room didn’t seem as well maintained as in the past, especially the bathroom. A few things need to be fixed and it needs a deep clean (in the corners). It wasn’t terrible but could be better.
Bathroom light switch was cracked, corners had build up dust and dirt, the frame around the mirror had something dried in the design.

My experience at Fairfield Inn of Mahwah was very good. Crystal was very helpful. She knew I wanted a refrigerator and she made sure I got it. Crystal also knew that I loved Frosted Flakes and she provided me with a bag for my whole stay. The staff was very helpful. They were very nice. Every Monday I asked for room service and it was done. The breakfast was great and complimentary but I would love some toast. I have booked my next stay already. Not to mention The restaurant next door (The Mason Jar) is amazing. The State Line Diner about 5 minutes away is a must go too. It was a wonderful stay.

The first room I was given smelled musky and the heater was set to 83, in a sumer month. The second room was better, but still not good. The shower was rusted all over and dirty. The shower curtain did not go down to the floor so the bathroom flooded every time I took a shower. There were bugs walking on the ceiling. Also, if you stay on a weekend night, expect loud music across the parking lot as the bar has an outdoor band that plays late. There are no refrigerators or microwaves in the rooms. The only positive thing about this hotel is the front desk staff, very nice.

In general, the minimum-age requirement to reserve a hotel room in the USA is 18. Some hotels require guests to be at least 21 because they do not want to be liable in case of a problem. I suggest you contact the hotel to find out their age policy.
