P.S. If you need gas before you leave, there is a Pilot Travel Center right next door! It is literally within walking distance!
You can go to NYC back and forth- and stay here!
This is the NICEST hotel I have ever stayed in. It is QUIET, CLEAN and the staff are wonderful.
They are within walking distance of the Mahwah train stop- just .25 mile directly to the east.
They are also going to be getting a free shuttle to and from the Mahwah train station. Just call them when you arrive at the train station. (201) 512-3800
So, for $10, you can get to and from the Penn Station NYC, (transfer in Secoucus) on the LIRR and stay HERE- and here is what you get:
1.) LARGE rooms, with down comforters.
2.) Plasma screen TV's.
3.) FREE wifi
4.) FREE large, brekaftast. hot waffles. . . donuts- and you can eat in the living room area, with its own warm fireplace!
5.) FREE parking
6.) Each room has a living room area, with a pull out sofa bed.
7.) Work out room, with plasma, weights, exercise bikes.
8.) Conference room
9.) In room desk, table, lamps.
10.) Fluffy, clean white towels.
11.) Endless hot water.
12.) In room large fridge, and Microwave
12.) Family friendly- and SO CLEAN.
TIP: There is a lovely high school track right in back of the hotel. Walk out the back door, go to the right side. and hop around the white fence, and you can walk up the small rise to the track.
HOW TO WALK THERE FROM MAHWAH TRAIN STATION:
When walking from the train station- from NYC, you'll arrive on eastern tracks. Exit in the town commons, (Nice deli there BTW) and hang a right, UNDER the tracks. Then walk straight, towards the school. At the corner of the Montessori school, cross the road, and stay left. Come over the freeway bridge, on the sidewalk, (STAY ON LEFT SIDE) then go to the back of the hotel. There is a small white fence- walk up to the fence, facing the hotel, and walk to the left- at the end corner, you can walk around, and you are in the hotel parking area, and can walk to the main entrance on your right. (See my Google Earth photo attched)
Enjoy this hotel- and treat it like home. . . it sure feels like it.
A problem with the tv was quickly settled by the desk clerk making a quick trip to our room to take care of it.
The room was roomy and comfortable. I like the nightlight on the tv.
Our room was one of just a few that faced busy route 17, whose traffic could be plainly heard from the room when the air conditioning was not on. Not a problem for me, background noises put me to sleep.
Bathroom ok, but not having a tub mat made it difficult for me to shower, since I do have a balance problem. Was very surprised there was not one there.
Buffet breakfast the usual hotel fare, I can always find enough to eat as long as there is coffee, juice and some kind of roll. Love the waffle maker, but it is always taken over by kids in the room. Was disappointed that the tables were not being wiped down. I had to discard someone's empties and wipe the table myself.
Price for me was high, but I suppose what these places get this time of year and on a Saturday.
I would stay again, and would recommend it to friends.
"Came here a day earlier to enjoy the pool. There is no pool. First time at a hotel that DIDN’T had a pool. We won’t be returning. ☹️"Read full review
