While we enjoyed our stay there are some things we feel the hotel could do to take things to a higher level. Try the following and remember these are just observations after staying here:

1. Update the rooms a little and for heavens sake put lightbulbs in all the lights in the room. We asked the cleaning crew for a lightbulb and we were told you had to go to the front desk to get one. Uhh...No! That’s not what a guest does that’s what the staff does.

2. How about complimentary coffee throughout the day. Taking up the free coffee at 9am and then charging $3 for a small styrofoam cup just doesn’t cut it in today’s marketplace.

3. We used the shuttle to midtown New York and the driver told us if we needed to return earlier to call and they would change our time. However when you do call to return earlier they act like they have no clue what your talking about. This is an easy one, pick a policy and go with it.

Again just some thoughts guys that’s all. Other than these things not that bad of an experience.

Hello Dwayne50, It is great to hear from you. We are determined to ensure that our hotels are always clean, our service is friendly, and everything works. It seems that on your stay this was not the case. Despite a good stay over all, the experience you've had with the hotel amenities and shuttle service was too hard to ignore. We have raised your concerns and suggestions with Hotel management, and they will definitely look into this. We are endlessly working to meet the standards that is set forth for all Holiday Inns. We would love for you to experience the progress we have made as we continue to elevate your travel experience and deliver a smile to your face. Looking forward to your visit in the future. Located across the George Washington bridge from Upper, Upper Manhattan (Washington Heights ) , this place is a more affordable way to see New York City if you don't mind a little inconvenience.

From the hotel , it is really easy to catch a bus or van (about $3) to the George Washinton bus terminal which is connected to the A train subway at 175th street. It is a bit more challenging to get back to the hotel but doable if you coordinate it right.

The hotel is old and not spectacular but has some good qualities: lots of electrical outlets, free internet, nice towels , great (really great) bagels, Keruig coffee makers, a nice bar ( where they pour, not measure 😡) and self service laundry facilities .

the A is an express train during the day so you get to and from Time Square quickly but it has a whole lot of commuters at rush hours. This train also has access to the LGA bus and the JFK Air Train.

Washington Heights has really good ethnic foods and small markets and wine stores close to the bus terminal.

Give it a try, you will save a lot. Best for the adventuresome, not so much if you have small kids due to the effort to get into the main part of the city.

The hotel was an older hotel and just on the other side of the George Washington bridge in New Jersey. The shower had some drainage problems but overall the room was very comfortable and the staff was very helpful. They answered all our questions for us to take a tour of NYC and even got us set up to leave right from the hotel each morning for 3 days. There was a restaurant and bar and also had two internet computers available to use and print from. There was also free wi-fi which worked just fine.

I'm an IHG Elite customer, so let me start by saying, I prefer IHG hotels to other hotels. Not in this case. I'll also say that I already reviewed this stay via my IHG account, and the review was taken down, so traveler beware. I received an apology email from management yesterday, yet today I received a notification saying my review didn't post. Yeah ok.

The biggest problem I had with this hotel is that all of them are non-smoking, yet the stench of WEED on my floor (4) was ridiculous from the moment I got there until the moment I left. And that was 3pm-ish so not a night party thing.

The place needs to be upgraded (dark and dated), and the clientele is not what it used to be (I've stayed here a few times prior to this stay).

Don't live there, they got bed bugs!!! I will give it negative! It was a rush time for us to book a hotel, but it turns out to be a horrible experience. We lived in the hotel from July 1st to 3rd, not to mention the dirty and outdated environments, we got bites by bedbugs!!! And those bed bugs came with our luggage to my home!!! Now all of our time are wasted on the pest control, and also suffered by the bites!

This is my second visit to this hotel as my husband has been in Columbia Presbyterian since 10/20/17. My first stay was over a week as he was transferred there from our local hospital up state. My second stay was last weekend for three nights. the staff all remembered me including Giesel at the front desk who remembered me over the phone when making my reservations. The staff are absolutely wonderful and work very hard. The hotel is very clean and is decorated beautifully for the holiday season. I love the fact that there is a restaurant and bar on sight as most nights I needed a drink after my long visit at the hospital so I could sleep. Although I was a single female there, Marissa and Marlene (I think) were both terrific bartenders who took very good care of me. Ate at the bar a few times, and food was good, hot and nicely presented. They just recently added a few new items to the menu. I ate the breakfast buffet once, which was very good. Enjoyed the karaoke on Friday nights although I did not participate. Giavonni who drives the shuttle bus, is an absolute gem. He was always prompt and courteous and generally cared how my day was going and would always ask if my husband was improving. It is wonderful having a shuttle take you back and forth to the hospital as it is a tiring day and not having to drive back and forth is a perk. I always tipped for this service and I'm sure gio appreciated it. the cleaning staff do a great job and whenever I used a make up remover or cream, it would be replaced the next day. Thank you to all the staff, I am sure I will return, and will not hesitate to recommend the hotel to my friends.

I'm a Spire Elite IHG member and I've stayed in this hotel on many occasions. It's 5 star service and a great location with easy access to NYC. It's got a nice pool area & free parking & free shuttle service for the local area. The restaurant & lounge are great with very reasonable prices and good food and services. Special kudos to Duane Hunter who took great care of my needs to make my stay very comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel.

Bedbugs were in our room and we were not even aware of this at first. Because some of them were crawling on the pillows we didn't realize we had bedbugs. We were under the impression one could not easily see them. This was not accurate in our case. But the bed was covered in them. We told the management and they did not seem at all surprised or concerned. We had prepaid for our stay, and will try to get out money back. The entire experience, both in the hotel, and after we left (probably carrying bugs with us in our suitcase) left us very shaken, depressed and frankly, afraid to stay in another hotel.

Hello Carly J, your feedback has not gone unnoticed. Pest control is considered of the "highest priority" here at Holiday Inn Fort Lee, we go to great lengths and considerable expense making sure that we have all pest related issues under our control. We have a licensed pest control company in the building on a regular basis to accomplish this task. We go to such lengths because we are an international hotel and due to no fault of any particular traveling guest, they find there way into guest luggage. therefore, we must be extremely proactive. From the owner to front line staff, we all consider all guest issues to be of the highest importance and to be handled expediently. We appreciated every bit of feedback that we get from our valued guests, I would love to have more information regarding you particular stay here at the Holiday Inn Fort Lee so we can thoroughly review stay. Thanks again. Duane H

I am a platinum member. It doesnt seem to mean anything. I was woken up at 2 30 a.m by a man crying and yelling in the next room. I understood what he was saying as i also speak spanish. The security man didnt. I went to the front desk and asked for another room. That i got however i told the person i had 4 large suitcases and had to pack them and move all. It was 3 00 a.m. there were many shady people walking around and in elevators. Do you know i got no help. It was very scary moving many bags alone 3 00 a.m up and down hallways and elevators. They did nothing. Finally in my room. Spoke with GM next day. His front desk manager was behind me while i was explaining. He was laughing at the incident. No compassion. No compensation. Nothing . I left water and juice and soap in the fridge in other room. I never got it and when i asked GM and another desk person for a bottle of water i got nothing. I saw who stays there. I would definitely advise tourists or business people to go somewhere else. Poorly run hotel. So this is platinum? No more holiday inns for me or my staff or my friends.

My husband was riding in a race on the GW bridge so we decided to stay at the hotel. Big mistake, when we entered the room looked ok than went into bathroom and it was covered with ants!!! I called the front desk. They sent a handy man up to kill them. No spray no help. Took them out in a paper cup. 10 min later I entered the bathroom again once again loaded with ants. Called the front desk again, told them I needed to move rooms. They were completely full ok I get that. He came up to the room killed more ants sprayed a little. We all know what happened next, they all came back. They offered me breakfast the next day. Really that is the last thing we needed or wanted. Asked to speak to manager, that never happened. I have stayed at holidays inns before never had this. Bathrooms were gross so dirty and needs a full renovation!!! I can only suggest stay somewhere else till they get there act together!!

I don't believe the shuttle would travel that far but you could ask. I'm thinking you could uber it there. Sorry for my late answer.

I asked at the desk how to get into Manhattan. There is a bus stop really close - you take the bus to the GW bridge and the bus takes you across to the subway station. I don't think the shuttle will take you across the river, probably just to the bus station. You could Uber over. The bridge is really pretty close. Hope this helps. Look up the NYC subway map online and see what you think.

The hotel has a shuttle service to upper Manhattan for around 10.00 a person. From there you can take the subway to midtown & downtown. There’s also a bus stop right next to the hotel to the left when you exit the hotel from there you can make it to upper Manhattan for 3.00 a person.
