Detailed Reviews
The Restaurant staff at Crown Plaza Englewood was 10/10 both for dinner and breakfast. The night receptionist looks like Japanese decent was 10/10, he worked up to 11. The overnight front desk person was not friendly and came across hash when we called for assistance , at no point , he refered to me by name .Instead, he used Mam. The staff that took over the shift from him, seems like african american, she came across approachable at first.I asked a simple question regarding my stay, and she reminded me I was staying at the hotel discounted. I am.disgusted by the service by these 2 people the overnight receptionist and the lady that took over. Treat all guest equal. Besides these 2 people hotel stay would have been 10/10

The hotel is a bit dated. The customer service was exemplary. I was originally on the 8th floor, however the guest next to me left a dog in the room. The dog was barking frantically and jumping at the door. They immediately moved me to another room. The thermostat did not work, I was unable to control the temperature in my room. I reported it three times and it was not fixed during my stay. Look for a better hotel at this price point there is no value. The restaurant os only open for breakfast.

We needed a hotel to got to in order to attend a convention in Jersey and this was a great choice. The room was stylish, comfy and spacious. We enjoyed taking a swim in the indoor pool, and grabbing some breakfast from the complimentary buffet. My only problems with the property are that the exterior of the building can use some updating and the neighborhood had a shady vibe. Overall we had a nice stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area on business.

Hotel's Favourite
We have used this property for over ten years off and on visiting family in the area. Have stayed at other properties on Rt-4, but we always come back saying we should of. We stayed in 927 for 4 nights and it was flawless. Unlike previous reviews, we were greeted promptly and courtesy by the front desk attendant. The lobby was clean and neat as always. We entered the room to find it was clean and made up properly. The bathroom was also clean, no stains or leftovers. The room fridge, microwave worked as expected, and no leftovers in either. The beds were comfortable and we both got a good nights sleep while we were there. No noticeable noise from the hallways. Both my wife and I are former military and we know what is meant by clean and neat. After retiring from active service in my late 40's , took a job as a bellman in a 500+ international hotel, so I know what goes on and what to look for, my tips depended on service. The service and hospitality at this property is and always has been great. Housekeepers say hello as we walk by, on our departure, two maintance guys were getting off the elevator on our floor and said " have a great day". Checkout was simple and quick. The only negative I could say, and it's a minor one, the desk is right next to the A/C unit and it was uncomfortable a few times using the laptop, just put on a fleece and all was fine. The way the room is configured there does not seem to be an easy solution, but all in all it was a comfortable stay.

This rather old hotel met my expectations after having read reviews. It is past its glory days with sad thread bare room carpet and intermittently awakening noisy air conditioner. Large room. Modern bathroom with excellent shower. Free parking. Friendly staff. Safe neighborhood with excellent long walks to large wooded park on way to Palisades hiking, and also pleasant hike to Englewood and Englewood Cliffs restaurant zones. Very close and easy drive to George Washington Bridge. Note this is so NOT your standard Crowne Plaza, and the low price of a stay reflects this. The Hotel is quite behind the times with restaurant/bar and pool still closed “due to COVID”, which is no longer the standard given current state guidelines. To end on a positive note, the king bed is fantastic! Would stay here again, but given how out of date the place is, I expect new owners with fresh investment and welcome changes will rescue this poor hotel.

What a complete shoddy cigarette smoked in dump. I have been staying in this hotel for about 10 years, and since the last time I have stayed, this place has fallen apart. Not one room in the whole building doesn't smell like rancid cigarette smoke. Our first night in they placed us on the 2nd floor next door to a construction zone. They had a burned out unit on the 4th floor a while ago and had water damage throughout. After being in the room for a bit we heard a bunch of banging and construction and had ourselves moved to the 3rd floor (Which also had construction going on due to the fire damage.)
That night was terrible. There was a woman and some of her friends that were hanging out in the laundry room playing her phone at full volume smoking cigarettes and weed back and forth all night long. I called security to have it dealt with 3 times and then just gave up as I saw the security come up, and nothing changed. When we woke up in the morning our room stunk terribly of smoke.
I went downstairs and explained the issue to the manager. He said he couldn't refund us because we had purchased and paid fully, but to followup with the travel service and he would refund back to us. (Of course the hotel's phone system was down and the travel service couldn't get through.) The manager apologized and moved us to a 5th floor unit. (This floor also has construction on it from the fire.) As soon as we walked in, it smells like a smoker had lived in this room. I just gave up and accepted our dumpy fate. The door lock is broken, and when we went to go to bed, we found lipstick on one of the pillowcases.
Additionally the hotel is housing vagrant guests that were supposedly being sheltered due to a hurricane that had happened 3 months prior.
DON'T STAY HERE.

Hi Zoratt, Thank you for looping us into your concern about the hotel's condition, the unpleasant smell, noise from the construction, other guests, and your refund request. What you described certainly is not the kind of experience we want any of our guests to have. I am sorry to miss out on these areas. I've communicated your sentiments with our management team for review and I've also sent you a private message to discuss this further. I hope to get another chance to host your next visit as we promise to make the value of your experience worth it for all the right reasons. Yours in hospitality, Jeraldine R. Case Manager IHG Service

The bed was comfy and the room AC worked well. And it was fairly clean.
The hot breakfast buffet was decent (china plates, silverware) and cost $16 per person.
However, the restaurant was closed for dinner and the bar were closed permanently . Neither fact mentioned when I was making reservation and had I known I would have booked elsewhere.
Moreover, the Lobby, room, hallway and restaurant decor was dark, beat up, dingy and grim. No way this is a "3 Star" hotel. A rather depressing place.

I stayed here for a weekend and would not recommend. While this was not the absolute worst hotel I've ever stayed at, I can only give it 1.5 stars (2 max) because I expected much more from a Crowne Plaza (which is generally considered a 3-star hotel). Let's start with the Good:
1. Plenty of parking; there's even areas where you can have covered parking.
2. Good number and location of outlets and USB ports.
3. White sheets appeared clean
4. Comfortable beds (though on the high/tall side)
5. 2 mirrors (one of them full length) available outside the bathroom.
The Bad:
1. Outdated and drab: No other words for it. The hotel just felt old and in major need of renovations. The bathroom is in dire need of a fan, as evidenced by the peeling ceilings and all the steam that pours out of the bathroom and steaming up the hallway mirror.
2. Iffy/broken elevators: The two elevators were iffy and seemed constantly under repair over the weekend. At one point, we entered the elevator and it kept bobbing up and down as if it was being held up by rubber bands; we immediately got off and began using the stairs.
3. Dirty: Never have I felt such a need to lysol/clorox wipe the entire hotel room (which I did - I do not usually do this in other hotels). There were strands of hair left around the tub. The color scheme of brown/tan just emphasizes the drab and dirty feel of the room. One of our rooms also smelled of cigarette smoke - we do not smoke and did not choose a smoking room.
4. Dim rooms: The curtains were great at keeping out light for the purpose of sleeping. But it would be nice to get light inside too. While the thin, touch desk lamp was cool/modern, it just wasn't enough to light up the room. Besides the desk lamp, there were 2 lamps by the bedside table.
The Odd:
Hotel Residents: I understand that sometimes things happen and people have to live in the hotel, but this one seems to have a surprising number of residents. Certainly, they are friendly and can give you good tips (e.g. the only working ice machine, at least on the upper floors, is on the seventh floor), but just be aware that this gives it a somewhat odd atmosphere. At least, I don't normally go to a hotel and expect to meet residents on the elevator or see them crack open the door and drop a little plastic baggy of... something (trash?) outside the hotel room.
All in all, I do not recommend this hotel.

After a fairly pleasant stay in April, I was booked to stay here but received a call from the hotel while in transit stating that there was a “plumbing issue” in the King rooms and I was relocated by them to a Best Western. I should have suspected an issue when they did not offer alternative accommodations at the Crowne Plaza.
When I arrived at the other property I was informed the Crowne Plaza said they told me I’d need to pay although my stay was already fully paid for. In addition, the Crowne Plaza had communicated an almost $400 for a new room at the “walk rate” as if I had just showed up. It also seemed as if I was the only guest transferred. I will never stay here again and would never recommend this property after this experience. This was abysmal customer service and feels like a scam.

I am very disgusted and disappointed. The website says spa like bathroom with beautiful shower etc. they gave us a room with a rusted bathtub not even a shower as shown on their website, the tv was not a smart tv which is odd for 2023, the alarm clock was an old cd player. I was disappointed and called to have my room changed. They changed our room to the “elite customer” floor. This room did have a shower that was clean. However, here we found mold which is very dangerous to breathe in !!! I will add photos below. The ceiling in our room needed repairs, there was a hole in the floor near the heater. It was truly unacceptable. I would never stay here again, I called corporate and asked for my money back and they offered me membership points because they do not do refunds which I also felt was not okay considering me explaining to them the state of the rooms we were given. Never even asked for the photos of the conditions so they can see what their property looks like. The restaurant and bar was closed. However they were serving breakfast and that was the only thing pleasant part of my stay. The lobby looks good but it’s a misrepresentation of what the other floors look like. They need to shut down and renovate. It is very outdated and needs a lot of work. I do not recommend this property at all and I am very upset that I paid my hard earned money to stay here.

The hotel is roughly a mile from the Performing Arts Center, so I guess it depends on how much you like to walk :)
It's a fairly flat, straight walk from the hotel, so if its a nice day out and you've got some time, sure, it's walkable. However, you should know the hotel is in a fairly non-descript, industrial part of town so I can't say it would be a particularly interesting walk if you were opt to do that.
Hope that helps!
My guess is, no. The cruise terminal is probably out of their range of transport. I would ask the front desk what the best way is to get to the terminal
I DON'T believe that they have any shuttle service to the nearby airports. Newark NJ Airport is over 30 minutes AWAY. LaGuardia and Kennedy Airports are over the George Washington Bridge in NYC. The ONLY nearby airport is in Teterboro NJ which is a municipal airport. Your best bet is to rent a car or rely on local friends and relatives for reliable transportation. I lived in Bergen County NJ for many years and this is the best option. I HOPE that this helps.
