Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nestled in a prime location, the Sheraton Edison garners praise for its attentive service and spotless facilities, though a few guests have encountered service inconsistencies. The hotel's atmosphere, with its renovated rooms and comfortable furnishings, is frequently commended, as is the cleanliness that extends from the rooms to the public areas.
While reviews on value for money are mixed, many find the amenities, including the fitness center and dining options, to be a highlight despite some hiccups with access and equipment.

Detailed Reviews
I love Sheraton properties, however, while this one is under remodeling I would not suggest staying. The smells on my floor from the renovations gave me a terrible headache and made it hard to sleep. The same smell was in the basement where the gym is, and made it unbearable to be in the gym. The bar and restaurant areas are also being re-done. On my first night, I was able to order food at the bar and enjoy my meal with no problem. The second night, a very rude bartender made it clear I could NOT order food at the bar. I attempted to get seated in the make shift dining area, (which is basically a dark hallway) and no one ever came to seat me. So I just ordered food from outside of the hotel.

Dear valued guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your valuable feedback with us! As you mentioned, the hotel is undergoing renovations but a lot of our renovations have been completed which includes our restaurant. You are now able to utilize the restaurant with the proper staff. I do apologize for the smell of paint that was strong during your stay, I understand completely why it gave you a headache. We do have floors that were remodeled a few months back and the smell on those floors have subsisted. If you book with us again ask for a floor that has been remodeled a couple months ago and I can assure you that you will not have any paint smells. We do hope to serve you again soon!

Stayed here while in town for my grand daughters baptism. We wanted to treat ourselves a bit so we used credit card points to book at a more expensive hotel. The facility is very nice. The lobby is beautiful with ample spaces to sit and visit or work. The beds are comfortable and the blankets are nice and thick. The bar was nice and the staff were all efficient but not what I would call friendly. But, don't stay here expecting to get breakfast or even coffee. You can go to the Starbucks in the hotel for coffee or you can pay 21 dollars for a breakfast buffet that doesn't offer anything more than what other hotels give you for free. What hotel does not even offer complimentary coffee? In general just was not what I was expecting or hoping for from such a well known and in my opinion higher end hotel. On the next trip, we will look elsewhere for our stay.

This location is perfect as a business traveler. It's easy on/off major highways and is safely near a business park. The hotel is undergoing upgrades. I stayed in one of the renovated rooms and it was much more up to date with new everything - flooring, paint scheme, finishes, furniture. It looks good

Had a great stay at the Sheraton Edison for a show at the New Jersey Expo Center nearby.
I was upgraded to the club floor in the 12th floor which was recently renovated, so everything is very nicely updated with a very comfortable bed, shower with rain shower shower head, large TV, coffee maker for coffee as well as access to the club lounge where they serve appetizers and a variety of drinks as well as providing a cappuccino machine for coffee.
There are number of very good restaurants in the area including the huge Harold’s New York Deli and the Civile Italian restaurant in Metuchen, which was very good.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.

My fiance and I stayed at the Sheraton Edison two weekends ago. Our room was recently renovated, clean, with modern lines and amenities. There were abundant connections for technology and the free wifi allowed me to work without difficulty or delays. Staff was friendly, helpful and responded quickly to any request or question. We had a hot pot of coffee delivered to our room each morning, and were greeted each day by attentive hotel staff.
What really made our experience stand out was the fact that I inadvertently left my jewelry case with all jewelry in it in a drawer after we checked out and didn't discover it was missing until we were six hours north, at home. I was panicked and very distraught upon discovering it was not with my possessions. Upon checking with the hotel, they indicated they had it in their possession, along with a few other items, and were keeping it secured. The jewelry in the case represented my most valued and personal items, some from loved ones deceased and extremely precious to me. The housekeeping manager, Deborah Rafael, and manager Lacqua Cammareri, worked together to ship my items back to me, which necessitated work above and beyond their traditional roles. I received my case and items and everything was intact and packaged safely. I am so grateful for the attention we received during our stay, but especially for the response to my difficulties in locating and getting my items returned. We make the trip to NJ several times per year and will be returning to the Sheraton Edison. We are looking forward to experiencing the benefits of the continued renovations.

The hotel was understaffed. There was no room service. On the first night the bar staff were at best surly and later rude. The bar food was expensive and poor and the beer at $11 for a tall shot glass is ridiculous, even the airport is cheaper. 2 of those small beers and a Caesar salad for $35 is also a joke. The main restaurant was closed despite the TV information advising it was open and the bar snack menu was disappointing. TV didn't work in the first instance and had to be re-set. I had to re set it again during my stay as the control remote stopped working. Starbucks was closed for the entire time I was there as was the bar and cafe on Sunday evening. No alternative restaurants were suggested and only having left did I find out the adjacent hotel had a bar and restaurant that were open. Coffee for the room was only available from the front desk and on two out of four occasions I was told there was none available by the receptionist. Breakfast was another big disappointment. No healthy choice, no fruit , just Sausage, powdered scrambled egg and fried potato. One dry cereal and white and brown sliced bread. Ii was like going back 25 years. On the one occasion I joined a party of other guests in the cafe area for dinner they had already ordered. I waited a further 45 minutes before being give a menu and then another 30 minutes to order. The meal when it finally arrived, 2 hours after I sat down was adequate. Reception service was slow and unfriendly with the exception of the final day on checkout. When checking out I reported my concerns to the manager on duty and suggested he should maybe adjust the total but it was apparently above his pay grade to do so. In total $580 dollars that got me worse service than being in a Super 8 motel.

This place is a lot better than it used to be with some of the renovations going on. However, Marriott should work to bring this hotel to the standards expected at their other hotels. There was coffee in my room but the coffee maker did not function. Additionally, the old decrepit tub in the newly renovated room had stale water under the liner which made it difficult to stand in the tub and the smell was disgusting. I reported both these things during my stay but received no response or remediation. Being a Platinum level guest I would expect them to at least respond to me with a "we'll try to do better" or something would have been better than no response.
I will not stay here again until the renovations are complete.

I had booked my stay for 2 night. On the first day, I got into the shower, turned on the tap and the tap came out. I therefore could not take a shower before leaving for a very important business meeting. I complained to the reception. The guy just said they would fix it later in the day. However there was no apology or sense of urgency. It felt that he thought that showers are optional and not providing one was not a big deal. He did not understand the inconvenience it caused, and that it wrecked my very important business trip.

This is one of the worst hotels I have ever had the misfortune to visit. Our toilet had to be flushed several times just to make paper go down (You can guess the rest). The heating and A/C unit could not be adjusted, so our room was 76 degrees every night (miserable). No one ever answered when we called the front desk. Breakfast wasn't served until 7:30, which is difficult when your group is leaving at 8:00. There is no coffee available in the lobby. Many members of our group, including us, never got clean towels or washcloths unless they went to the front desk and retrieved them on their own. Our luggage sat in the lobby until my husband went down to get it, even though we were told it would be delivered to our room. I was extremely happy to leave this facility.

The staff are nice but that didn't make up for the fact that practically everything in this hotel doesn't meet expectations. The only reason we stayed here was because we could bring our dog but there wasn't even a pet relief area, even though when we booked we were told there was. I was also a little surprised I didn't have to provide my dog's vaccination records, makes me wonder if there are other dogs here not up to date on bordetella, rabies, etc....There was no fridge or microwave, despite it being listed as an amenity at the time of booking. The room wasn't very clean, the seating in the downstairs dining area looked beat up, the club lounge that we "upgraded" to when reserving was a joke. It had a few apples and Sierra mist and a coffee machine and the buffet area, which is apparently closed on the weekends, had smelly old water still sitting in each of the hot plate trays. None of the floors have working ice machines. To pile on, the pool we promised our kid would be a fun downtime activity is apparently closed through April, which would have been nice to know before packing for it (I made sure there was a pool when booking in October and there was no mention of construction.)
For what we're getting, we might as well have stayed at a motel, this feels like a ripoff. We travel to this area often and will not come back to this Sheraton.
