Nestled close to the beach, Tunamaya Beach & Spa Resort – Desaru is a favorite for its picturesque ocean views and spacious rooms, according to numerous guests. While the variety of amenities and the private beach setting are often praised, the hotel has received mixed reviews regarding service efficiency and overall cleanliness. Some guests have experienced slow check-in processes and unattended maintenance issues, which contrasts with the commendations for the resort's value and the friendliness of its staff.

The resort has access to the beach and all rooms are facing to the sea, so i don't need to pay more for Seaview room. The building is quite old based on tiles and furniture inside the room (fine for me). Basically, facilities are up to the par but towel threads are loose at every edge. Conclusion, the resort is still good but don't give high expectation.

we booked a family standard and twin standard, connecting room 314 315. quite a walk from the lift so do consider if u have older pax with you. its an old hotel with some refurbished work but still feel old. its quite average but a bit pricey perhaps because its a Singaporean tourist spot. the balcony have steps to go out. tv, wifi, toilet, aircond was ok. heater was a bit cuckoo but we manage. i may return just because my sister stays nearby. it was monsoon season so visitors are not allowed to swim but u can play at the sand area. swimming pool has no limitations, breakfast was a choice of 5 and it was average. staffs look like school leavers, slow but ok lah.

My friend booked this hotel before informing me. After reading the nasty reviews, i would say i wasn't looking forward to the hotel stay and even brought a disinfectant spray just in case that the toilet smells nasty. Yes the hotel is very old, judging by the tiles, it looks like the kind that they build in the 70s. if you remember the hotels before year 2000s, you wouldn't have a very high expectation for the breakfast spread. It is not an international standard. The staff who is managing the egg station has a very strong body odour to the point that a few tables in front of him is left empty.

The room itself is renovated but you can see that the way that they pour the epoxy all over the bathroom, it is not a neat job. the bathroom was cleaned right before we check in. Check in didn't took a long time. The cleaner must have poured a lot of soap to the bathroom floor that it was so slippery when we enter. i've to spray water to the whole bathroom when i came in.

Bed, pillows, AC and mattress is ok. we had a good night sleep. Just remember, don't expect an international hotel standard.

Had booked room 3days 2nights with breakfast for 2. The breakfast buffet was really sad with overcooked food and tasteless. Informed breakfast ready at 7am but only half of the breakfast menu was served. Everthing was there by 7.45 that is really dissapointing

The fried kuey teow had HAIR in it. I was the third person to take the dish and taken it from an untouched side soo there is no excuses that some other customer hair might had fall of.

The butter and jem for the toast bread are place in an open basket without lid and shared by everyone. Dust and breadcrumbs are everywhere.

I called the PIC/Manager for the kitchen and said to wait for him. Waited 20 minutes but he didnt show up eventhough I saw him walking around the area. Pure nonsense. I brought my plate that had hair in it to him and only then he answered and admitted that it was HAIR.

I immediately asked him to take the dish away as who know how much hair could be in that dish and other people didnt realize it.

Then i meet the manager upstairs to report and he said will take action but who knows. Just go through the reviews and Im not the only one with bad experience here.

Room got dead cockroaches also. See the pictures . Dont know what to say. The pool water also quite cloudy. The toilet also quite moldy. And trust me, you can hear everthing that is happenong outside as the door is not soundproof at all.

Overall, i suggest to remove the title RESORT from the name as it is really not worthy

Aging hotel that was given a facelift. Kind to accede to handicap access room request. Large clean rooms, comfy bed but water pressure in toilet is poor. Housekeeping didn't make any effort despite doorknob signage, had to ring up front desk. Breakfast was included but with all that effort at proper presentation and service, food actually wasn't palatable. Bland or just weird.....should bring in an experienced chef from nearby large town or city to infuse flavour into all the food.

Room was in bad condition. Not properly maintained. Ac was too small for the room and very very filthy 🤬 requested for trolley to help move our luggages to the room. Unfortunately there was only 2 trolleys available. Staff was ok. Would rate staff helpfulness 6/10. The beach on the other hand is ok. Location is good. The management of Tunamaya needs to step up and maintain the rooms properly.

The service at the hotel is poor, there did not seem to be many staff. There is very little place to sit and relax. The food is terrible. We ate at the Thai restaurant and they completely messed up our order, we were served the wrong dishes. The quality of the food was very disappointing and the service was extremely poor.

We tried eating at the seafood restaurant but walked out after being told that all vegetables and all tofu dishes were sold out. There were no table cloths and the waiters were not interested in the customers. Very disappointing.

The pool did not look or smell clean, there were no towels at towel counter as the washing machine had broken down.

The room and public areas are not very clean, the windows and mirrors were very dirty. The towels and bedding smelt like stale cigarette smoke. The hotel itself is in need of major investment. The beach was nice but there was some rubbish lying around.

Nice beachfront location but don’t waste your money going here!

We have booked a 2-bedroom Suite for the weekend. Overall stay was average.

They only have 2 rooms for their suites and unfortunately, our room was 501, which was at the extreme end of the corridor. It was a long walk to our room from the lift lobby. We were travelling with children under 3 and walking in the afternoon sun and hot air blowing from the compressor along the corridor was not pleasant at all.

We asked if we could switch to the other suite since it was nearer to the lift lobby (only a few doors down) but it was occupied.

FO mentioned that they provide a turn down service and asked if I would agree to, which I did but however through our 2 nights stay, there wasn’t any turn down service done. Not sure if we were supposed to call reception for that. It was not properly informed during check in.

Both bathroom were clean however, the master bedroom bathroom could do an upgrade. I had to climb up 2 big steps to get into the bathtub just to take a shower. With active toddlers around, this was a safety concern for us. It was dangerously slippery to shower them in the bathtub.

Our first day for breakfast was extremely disappointing. We care down at around 8am but there were no seats available and by the time we could find seats, there was NOTHING LEFT on the buffet spread. We went to inform the staff and her reply was, ‘they will top up the food shortly.’ So we waited for about 20-30mins for them to top up. We were annoyed when we saw that they were slowly topping up food and decided to have breakfast elsewhere.
On the second day, we went down earlier, so we had seats and managed to have their spread. Food was average.

Check in time was suppose to be 3pm meaning rooms need to be ready by then, but the front desk said "3pm and above". That shouldnt be right. Then when we got our room, some flooring was torn/damaged (they use vinyl i guess). Room was very basic, got balcony but no chair put outside. Bathroom i think was the worst, clogged both shower and sink, musty smell all the time, and sink is dirty when we got there. Its quite expensive for something so basic and dirty (RM220 per night, I use voucher i bought before MCO, range RM270-300 usually)
Breakfast was suppose to be buffet, yet only bread, cereal and drink was buffet, main dish u have to order on their order sheet, and only 1 main dish per person, additional, have to pay. There were a lot of ppl during weekend but their food choices are super poor. They seriously need to upgrade their rooms and food quality if they want to attract people to come. But for me, i wont come again, sorry. Such a bad experience.
If ur getting dinner, u can go to Taman Mutiara area where seafood are way cheaper. I would suggest D'Laksamana seafood. Nelayan Seafood restaurant is overpriced since its collab/own bt Tunamaya.

Enjoyed a relaxing 2D1N stay in December, with 2min access to beach from the hotel room. Pros: Beach views from all rooms, polite and service-oriented staff, freshly cooked omelette at egg station, near Nelayan Seafood restaurant, pool is cleaned daily, recent refurbishment of room interior (eg ceiling, wallpaper, dressing table etc), not crowded generally, convenience store onsite. Cons: Facility is older so its a more traditional design & there are signs of wear and tear. Breakfast spread is simple. But on balance, the hotel rates are very affordable considering the proximity to the beach. Sometimes you can almost have the whole beach to yourself (at off peak). Great sunrise and sunset views.

While staying there , around March 2019 , I saw the chambermaid pushing an extra bed to guest beside my room. They should have and provide that. The max for Standard Family Room is 5pax (3A 2C) while yours is 2A 3C. Should be no problem. Anyway, email them for verification is better.
