The first thing you notice is that there is no fridge. This could be quite disconcerting when temperatures can range from the 70s and upwards during the summer. There is, however, plenty of free ice and you can fill your cooler with bags of ice and keep your perishables cold.
Otherwise, the room is very basic and relatively clean. This hotel is a deed centrally located within walking distance of a couple of supermarkets, coffee shops and restaurants. As for the service, it is quite abysmally. One of the evening receptionist was very pleasant and helpful. However, one of the morning receptionist was completely unhelpful.
Bottom line… You get what you pay for. And at this particular town, you pay quite a lot to stay in a dump.
I went to the office and asked for a discount the girl was unable to do anything so she called the office manager and I talked to her over the phone and she was RUDE from the get go. Implying I was only saying this to get a discount. Telling me she would get the maintenance person over when she got around to it even though I was will to go wait for him right then and there. She also said the best discount I would get IF she determined it was appropriate was 5%.
I refuse to bath in icy water. I have muscle problems and stress and cold only aggravate them.
Wow. Do Not get a room from this place.
There was a 1 inch gap in our front exterior door on the second floor.
When I told the front desk staff about it and said I was worried that mice would get in, she said they hadn’t yet. She then asked me what she wanted me to do about it. I asked if there was something we could use to close the gap and she said use a towel. When I asked her for a towel she seemed annoyed that I asked. We didn’t get any mice in it that shouldn’t even be a concern.
This is the cheapest motel in the West Yellowstone area just outside the park.
It is a combination of two adjacent motels - Dude Motel and Roundup Motel.
The reception desk is located inside the newly painted Dude Motel, which I'm guessing houses the remodeled rooms. The receptionist wasn't rude, but he wasn't friendly, either.
My friend and I were given a room in the Roundup Motel across the street, which looked like a very old Motel 6.
The room inside was clean, but very basic with an old TV and furniture.
The bedspreads, carpet, and drapes were dingy and stained.
The A/C was loud, but worked.
The bath towels were small, rough, and somewhat stained.
The Wi-Fi did not work at all.
No fridge or microwave. No ice machine.
My friend and I stayed here for 2 nights because we wanted to be close enough to explore Yellowstone for a few days. We were out all day from sunrise to dark, so we really just needed a place to crash. As such, it was fine.
"Dude & roundup are 2 different motels on the opposite sides of the road. My room was in the 'Dude' part. "Read full review
