Setting was beautiful and worth a trip. Guided activities schedule included in the resort fee were limited to two a day. Yoga was once a week, etc. Food was good, service was good - they tried.

When we were there their signature restaurant was closed for several days to accommodate a large group. We didn't know this when we booked five months earlier, and planned our Montana trip around this lodge. We would've gone the next week had we known. So we had all our meals in their casual restaurant, which included one day two screaming, unsupervised kids and another a barking dog who jumped on me while I was eating. This is a dog friendly lodge.

Even though I booked a deluxe room, it did not have a patio or balcony. This was on me for not knowing, but the room was dark and I wanted the opportunity to step outside easily. There is limited outdoor seating otherwise, picnic tables, 2 rocking chairs, and fire pits constantly on. The room was comfortable otherwise.

Fontaine, Thank you for the feedback and we apologize that we did not advise of outlet closure upon your booking. We understand that this would be frustrating to learn upon arriving to the property, but are thankful that you brought forth this concern so that we can learn and move forward. If we are lucky enough to earn your trust back for a future stay, we are confident that full transparency of available outlets will be voiced. Sincerely, Justin Robbins General Manager

We could not have asked for a more idyllic setting for our intimate wedding and mini family vacation. The mountain backdrop is perfect, and Sage Lodge offered every creature comfort we could have imagined, including one of the best meals we’ve ever had at the Grill. Best of all, Lynda and the rest of the staff went so above and beyond to make sure we had a special experience, from driving us around in the cold to helping us celebrate our vows and making our kids feel special. We will never forget the hospitality and will for sure be back!

This was the first three nights of a week long vacation with our family of 4 (2 teenagers) and everyone agrees it was the best part of our trip! The setting is just amazing and I love that it's a smaller hotel that felt more personalized. The concierge services leading up to the trip (planning activities and such) was great. They were helpful in customizing activities to meet our schedule and interests. The staff was very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. The Fireside restaurant has a small but diverse menu and you can't beat the setting, We enjoyed everything we had there. The Grill restaurant was not our favorite. The food was good, but the price was high and the service we received was only ok. I think everyone has been short staffed this summer and working on training some new folks, so be patient.

We really enjoyed the plein air painting and star gazing. The in house photographer, Heather, was great. She combined a family photo session with a photography lesson for my teenage son. Ax throwing also fun :)

Highly recommend Sage Lodge!

From the minute I spoke on the phone to them to when we left very early on Sunday morning everything was amazing. We did not encounter one person that was not helpful and over the top to make our stay perfect. This is a gorgeous lodge with perfect views, live music, clean and so accommodating! My husband and I will be back.

Absolutely perfect stay at The Sage! First of all the setting is so beautiful that your pictures don't even look real! LOL The hotel is spotless and the rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Both restaurants are fantastic. And there are wonderful things to do and experience as well as being a perfect location for touring Yellowstone. But it's really the customer service and attention to detail that are so impressive. At a time when all you hear about is that everywhere you go is understaffed and no one can find good staff etc. , everyone at The Sage is happy and helpful and interested in their guests and truly goes out of their way to ensure that you feel welcome and relaxed and taken care of in every way. I can't say enough about our experience. My husband and I renewed our vows with our children with the magical mountains in the background. It could not have been easier or more professional from the remote planning from the East Coast to every detail on our special day. Lynda and Madison really made us feel like it was important to them and took care of everything so that we could just relax and enjoy it all. So professional and helpful and truly lovely in every way. We even arrived late the night before, after driving 10 hours from CO., we called because the restaurant was going to close before we arrived, so they took our order order the phone with ETA and had a fantastic hot meal waiting for us before we even checked in! Real care and over the top customer service in an absolutely stunning place! Book a trip and you can thank me later! The Sage is without question our new favorite place and we will be back next Summer. Thanks to all who make the Sage such a magical place!

This entire resort is amazing. We stayed in the lodge house and although it was very pricey it was over the top nice. The food is incredible and we thoroughly enjoyed every meal. There are tons of onsite activities and all the staff were very accommodating. Our first night there, my wife and I booked a couples evening boat tour. We had to share a van with another family that was 25 minutes late and thus we too had to wait. We shared our disappointment and frustration with the staff, and on our return trip to the lodge, we were surprised with a cooler filled with a nice bottle of wine and snacks. That is just one example of how dedicated they are to making sure each family has a great stay. Highly recommend.

We've come here twice in the last year and very much enjoy the views, people and food. They allow pets which is a plus as we travel as much as we can with our Shih Tsu. From the moment you arrive, you are greeted at the door and once you walk in, the view of the mountain in the lobby is breathtaking. You can sit in the lobby by the fireplace and play board games, read a book or just kick back and watch wildlife pass in the distance. The food is excellent and the rooms are cozy. There are activities to do onsite or you can drive to nearby Yellowstone. We will definitely make this trip at least once a year

We made three attempts to make reservations with no phone answer, no reply but when chancing just showing up we got right in on a Saturday evening. The Autumn salad was a true treat with its pepita seeds, dried cranberries and poached pears, like beginning the meal with dessert! We both enjoyed our duck breast, perfectly prepared and accompanied with just the right proportions of pureed butternut squash and delicious brussels sprouts and apples. The dessert menu looked very appealing but had a lot to be desired as the so called chocolate creme brulee was much more like a mousse and the huckleberry and peach crisp was not crunchy nor crispy but flavorless with little random soft biscuit toppings. Ariel, our server, was most pleasant, engaging and attentive and the environment was warm and inviting with magnificent snow capped mountain views, all in the Fireside Room.

If you want to explore Yellowstone, then have a massage, then do yoga, then learn axe throwing, this is the place. Many beautiful vistas and touches, from little nighttime snacks to gracious rooms. You are going to see the one or two who can't give up the morning j
jog or wifi, but the hospitality is great and you can easily find your own adventure.

The Sage Lodge is a dream! Our family of 4 (Kids 10 and 6) had the most amazing stay. From breakfast early in the morning to fly fishing as a family around the pond to roasting smores at night around the fire pits, it was an experience that we will never forget. The management and staff were attentive to needs and made you feel like you were the only guest there. Special shout out to Keith, who taught our fly fishing lesson and took extra care to makes sure our family had an amazing time. Keith is a treasure and our family adores him. Don't hesitate to book a stay here and enjoy all the Montana has to offer.

Do you offer guided sunrise hikes?
Answer from Justin Robbins

Good question! We offer complimentary guided hikes throughout the seasons based on weather and daily schedules (generally either in late AM/early afternoon). We can however schedule private experiences to cater to any scenic preference (though at an additional fee).
Answer from Justin Robbins

"There are no bad months in Montana"... even April! Sure it might be a mix of cold/wet weather, but there is ALWAYS things to do! As for horseback riding, there are nearby vendors that provide options to which we can assist with booking. Advising them that you are experienced will be key to ensure they create a fun event for you two. Restaurants are open, great wine to be enjoyed, and great sights to see. Fishing excursions rely mostly on local springs/creeks as the rivers are not quite ready for the typical angler. Yellowstone National Park is just a short drive away and not to be missed, regardless of the time of year.

Depending on when in December you are visiting the snow in the Sage area could be iffy. Things to do: Visit Chico Hot Springs-right around the corner , and soak in the great outdoor hot springs. Have dinner at Chico in the main dining room-SUPERB. Drive down to YNP and visit the thermal area around Mammoth. If you cross country ski arrange for a backcountry trip with the Mammoth hotel outfitter. Amazing. Snowshoe the area between Mammoth and Cooke City. There is also some great cross country skiing in that area. A four wheel drive SUV is a must.
