We just attended a family reunion in Helena MT. We had heard of the Elkhorn Motel in Montana City. It was near the reunion. The motel was spotlessly clean and the service grand. We could not believe the low prices. I consider this motel as one of Montana's best kept secret. It is a bit off the main exits so the area is serene and quiet.

The Elkhorn Mountain Inn is located just five miles south of Helena on I-15. I much prefer it to the big hotels in Helena that cost twice as much and have one-half the flavor of this location. The small motel is family-owned, clean, comfortable and friendly. They provide a basic continental breakfast with toast/bagels, peanut butter (yes!), juice, cereal and coffee. Across the road is the Hardware Cafe, also a (different) family-owned business. The hardware store is on the north end and the non-smoking breakfast cafe (6 AM to 2 PM) is on the south end. Their food is good and their prices are very reasonable (ask for the daily special). I liked the motel so much that I booked ten rooms for a family reunion in June 2004.

This motel is a nice alternative to the horribly overpriced motels near Yellowstone NP. The Elkhorn has clean, comfortable rooms at a decent price. It is about five miles out of Helena but there are a few decent restaurants close by. I like the convenience store that is attached to the motel. I would stay here again.

My friend and I have stayed here for the past 2 vacations while visiting from Iowa. I have found it to be very clean, comfortable and quiet and staff is very accommodating especially the manager. She was very considerate and helpful! If you want to stay at a great place with reasonable rates then this is the place for you.

A freak spring storm descended on us as we drove south of Helena MT, upon pulling off the road we encountered Elkhorn. The staff was kind and welcoming. I found it likewise a refreshing alternative to high priced over fluffed boxish genetic hotels.

Someone is trying.. the front is covered in attractive field stone. The lobby had tables newspapers and24/7 coffee. A lovely little “ something to get you going” breakfast hit the spot.
We felt comfortable here and stayed an extra day to go back and explore Helena a little more. iT is with 15 minutes( over the pass ) to boulder hot springs so we stayed here and did a day soak there.

Everything that needed to be clean was. Beds seem new on par or better than most 140 dollar range chain hotels. Hotels rooms extend back into fields with Small MT views.
This made our sleep very quiet.
We stayed on first floor. The sound proofing was very exceptionally good. I slept soundly.
Only Draw back ( perhaps particular to the sudden shift in weather or our room) it was a little cold , remedied by a small blanket throw.
Drawback 2 I found a slight need of a detailed check of rooms.. I foubd a cup cover under our table.

All in al very nice!!
I was made to feel Very welcome

Very convient to Helena and Boulder without a high price tag.
And pets stays are welcome here too, we had no pets, but for those struggling to find a clean, quiet , beautiful hotel that do not treat pet owners second rate.. this is the place for you.

I love the safe, cute hamlet of Jefferson City.
It had a very nice walking path starting at the hotel, and an excellent local breakfast place with in walking distance. A local library is in walking distance, plus bars, and a very clean gas station.

I loved it!!!!!was surprised and delighted.

We were assigned to a handicapped room, even though we are not handicapped. The room had a broken shade, a plugged faucet and shower head. The handicapped shower had a broken handicapped faucet handle. One day we received no maid service and the manager refused a discount when we requested one and was not apologetic.

Although located 5 min south of Helena, we found this inn online and decided to try it out.

We found it to be simple, yet to be a very quiet and clean place to stay. The room we had was very spacious and comfortable. The staff were very accommodating, especially since we arrived very late in the evening.

The breakfast in the morning was a bit sparse, but still decent for our family. Finally, we felt the price was extremely reasonable given the room we had booked.

This is a place we would definitely come back to the next time we pass through the area.

We found our stay at the Elkhorn Mountain Inn to be a very convenient stop on a long trip. The staff was extremely helpful, and went out of their way to accommodate a special request we had. We'd stay here again.

The room was much more than I expected. The front desk clerk was very helpful as was the clerk in the adjoining store/gas bar.
I don't like driving into Helena and Butte at night so this is a plus.
I definitely will stay here again on my annual trip to Arizona.

We always stay at this lovely motel when we are on our road trips south. We came across it in the AAA handbook a few years ago and it has never failed to please. Staff are really friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean and spacious. Continental breakfast is good and we love staying here. Next door to a gas station/convenience store and opposite a great restaurant. Hope to see you again next year!
