We’ve just had the great fortune to be "trapped" on Gili Lankanfushi for 10 days instead of 5 (due to the Covid-19 travel restrictions) and can’t praise the whole staff highly enough. Everyone went over and above to ensure we had the most amazing and special time. The service was superb, as was the choice and quality of food. Much as we would have liked to be trapped there longer, our waistlines wouldn’t have appreciated it! A big shout out goes to our Mr Friday, Visam; the wonderful sommelier Rohan, and the talented, very patient resort marine biologist, Tiana, who took us out snorkelling on the house reef many times. We were supposed to stay at the resort this time last year but couldn’t due to the fire. We are so glad we re-booked. The whole holiday was a complete barefoot, eco-friendly delight!…
Luxury and service like we've never experienced before. My wife and I stayed at Gili Lankanfushi beginning of December right after the resort reopened. Villa: No amount of pictures and videos can do justice to the views, the villa and the property. We spent most of our time swimming in the lagoon and sunbathing on the deck and the rooftop and also explored the resort on bike barefoot, of course! Our villa had beauriful unobstructed views of the lagoon and the ocean. There was a coral patch right by our villa; our Mr. Friday brought us snorkeling equipment and we snorkeled right off the deck which was quite special. Every morning at sunrise we sat on the deck to watch some Eagle Rays and Baby Sharks swim by in the turquoise waters. Food: It was a pleasure to get to know Chef Hari who is an inspiration. His passion for food, recipes and the environment really helped us understand what entails preparing delicious meals at scale in the most eco-friendly way. He also gave us a tour of the herb garden where a lot of the ingredients come from. We got the half board package that gave us enough variety to try local Maldivian flavors in addition to all the comfort food. We loved the themed dinner nights that gave us enough opportunities to chat with the crew to learn more about the resort and Maldives. Service: The service here supersedes everything else. Everyone at Gili goes out of your way to make you feel special. You experience the luxury, right from the time you get to the airport to the time to the time you're dropped back. We were celebrating an upcoming milestone birthday and Fatho, our Mr. Friday decorated our suite with flowers, balloons, cake and a very personalized birthday wish. Activities: We chose guided snorkeling around the house reef; Sarah was our snorkeling guide, she’s also a marine biologist and gave us a quick run down of the marine life before we dove in which enhanced our experience. She made sure me and my wife were comfortable and ensured we had a great time. We snorkeled right upto the ‘dropoff’ - the point where the water depth goes from 8-10 feet to 40-50 feet. And yes we saw a sea turtle. Amazing!…
Having read countless positive reviews about Gili Lankanfushi, we decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary there. It was also our 4th visit to Maldives and I must say, Gili lived up to its expectations! As soon as you step foot into the island (barefoot), you get the back-to-basics vibe. Sustainability is engrained everywhere. Everything about our experience was nothing short of excellent. We had the most amazing Mr Friday, Makif who made our stay much more memorable - very attentive, friendly, and always accommodating to our requests. An anniversary cake was prepared prior to our arrival, followed by a romantic bubble bath. We stayed at the lagoon villa which had perfect sunset views and the gorgeous overwater hammocks in front of the villa. There are fantastic spots for snorkelling just after the lagoon with abundant marine life. We saw sea turtles, and even just from our villa, we spotted stingrays, eagle rays, and black-tip sharks. You’ll never be short of food options at Gili - extensive breakfast spread with an option to order from a la carte menu, themed dinner nights. We were very impressed with the selection of food they had for in-villa dining. Never thought we would have in-villa hotpot in the Maldives. It was somewhat unfortunate that our stay occurred when lockdown measures for COVID-19 started as well as disrupted flight schedules. We were pretty much stranded (stay was extended) but I can assure you that there’s no better place to be stranded, but this beautiful island. Amidst the Covid/flight chaos, the team at Gili Lankanfushi handled the situation exceptionally well. Our return travel arrangements were fully handled but the team (especially Nicholas) leaving us stress free! Everyone staff we encountered at Gili made us feel at home. Special mention of Rohan (sommelier), Soda, Angeline, Rizwan, and Shifaz for their hospitality. Not forgetting to mention the housekeeping team as well, who kept our villa spotless. Thank you Gili for the wonderful experience. We hope to be back soon!…
We stayed 5 nights at this incredible barefoot luxury resort. This place was stunning from the moment we arrived we were blown away at the food, the service, the views, the rooms, and so so so much more. I have to say that the staff was second to none. Each one knew who my husband and I were long before our last night. They pulled out all the stops with special touches to dinner as well as a lovely touch to a private dinner with a drone and the table surrounded by candle lights in the shape of a heart. Our "Mr. Friday" Mifzal was so helpful in making every wish of ours come true whether it was surfing, tennis, spa, or just laying around a taking it easy. We will definitely be back visiting this amazing resort.
Let me be clear - we travel a lot and stay at the best resorts. Gili is amazing for its sustainable practices and for its seclusion and amenities. The breakfast is amazing - try the cold room chocolate bar and the “frozen” yogurt along with the morning libations - I loved my Grapefruit Tonic and my husband loved the Basic Beet. Our personal Mr Friday, Fiyaz, made sure everything was just right. This is the place for seclusion, privacy, spa, snorkeling, and diving. We definitely want to return.
