The rooms only felt partially clean. Linen, towels, shower, and toilet appeared clean, but not the floor, chairs, and areas to be dusted. I cleaned areas I would be using. The ice machine is great. Breakfast is decent and included juices, yogurt, breakfast sandwich, and breakfast/snack bars. A coworker had a room that smelled of urine and smoke. The staff did not let her cancel the rest of her staff, so she bought air freshners to hide the smell.

We had better expectations for a Howard Johnston hotel. The first room we were assigned had a strong cigarette smell even though they assured us it was a non smoking room. The carpets were old and not lying flat on the floors. They gave us another room. It was better but some of the furniture is falling apart. The drawer in the bedside table falls out if is is moved slightly. The hotel advertises that it serves breakfast. This is not true. They offer you a granola bar for breakfast from the reception desk.

Business trip was extended and original hotel rates skyrocketed fro Friday night. Found HoJo and the price was better than the $300 the other place wanted for the night. Wish I had splurged. Microwave stacked on top of tiny fridge that was on the floor. The staff was fine, but this place isn’t worth any more than sixty bucks a night.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed. The front desk is rude, arrogant, obnoxious, and unrepentant for multiple mistakes. The hotel condition is run down, bedsheet had holes in it. In the name of "Free breakfast" as posted on websites, they have coffee, a small box of apple juice, and a granola bar! I had booked 4 rooms for 1 night way stop for a family gathering. Instead of charging each occupant for their room with their CC they charged me for all of them. All hotels allow booking multiple rooms and individual charges for each room to the occupant! This hotel is different and they argued frantically with me. Even though during booking, I had marked pay at the hotel on Hotels.com, they refused to accept other's CC and used only mine which I had put down to hold the rooms. Next, they charged 2 rooms higher than the other 2 rooms (though all identical with 2 queen beds, booked at the same time, all occupants arrived at the same time), instead of reducing charge for the 2 rooms, the manager says she is going to charge my credit card more for the difference to match up with the higher charge. Very unethical and non-customer orientation! Stay away.

This is the filthiest most unkempt property I have ever stayed at. It should be shut down by a health authority if they even do that in Montana. Talked to the manager on checking out and she stated she had just bought the property two weeks ago. Seriously it was gross and disgusting. I bought Clorox wipes to clean in the room. The only things that were done were garbage emptied, sheets and towels changed. It hasn't been dusted in what appears to be decades, smelled bad, old beds and old smelling pillows. Still remnant of old crumbs on the floor that hadn't been vacuumed. Feces still present in the toilet bowl, and it smelled of urine. Disgusting!!! The "breakfast" included was a joke...granola bars and yogurt lol! I don't know how it can even be associated with Howard Johnson/Wyndham. Definitely will not stay here again!

We stayed for three nights and was very disappointed. We expected much better from a name like Howard Johnson. They advertised free breakfast but breakfast room was closed and they only offered coffee and granola bar at the front desk. Rooms were very run and badly in need of upgrading. The bathroom door was coming loose from the hinges and wouldn't close. The bed was very uncomfortable and sagging toward the middle. In general the place was very dark and dingy and smelled old. Would not recommend to stay there.

I was disappointed that they would actually rent a room that the window was stuck open. You cannot close, and there was no screen on it and that anyone could crawl through your room. And they rented it out to us and then when I asked for a refund she said absolutely no refunds and send us to a different room which had hair in the bathtub and on the pillows, just like the room we had. We just grabbed our stuff and walked out.

My stay at the Howard Johnson In Helena, MT was horrible and I will never patronize another one Howard Johnson's hotel. It should be an automatic given that your rooms are clean and presentable for you customers. If the rooms are not clean and sanitary, they shouldn't be available to be rented out until they meet the franchise code of conduct.

I think it's best to sleep in my car and save the money. The room smells bad and no breakfast included like the website said. This place looks and smells like it has not been updated for over 30 years and smells like someone smoked pot in the room and trying to cover it up and bathroom door latch is broken. And the outside door doesn't lock so anyone can come to anytime. And room 217 safe latch on the door is broken like someone broke in the room one time.
