This place is special! You can tell when folks take their hospitality seriously. The owners are friendly and helpful. I was lucky to get the king room. Everything you need for a comfortable stay has been thoughtfully placed in the room: built in desk, coffee maker, microwave, fridge. The bathroom had a pedestal sink, beautifully tiled shower, toiletries, thick towels, and a good hair dryer(in a blue velvet bag no less). The rooms are immaculate with an eye to design and detail--the leather chair even had the cowboy logo stitched into it. The best feature is how welcoming the hosts are.
Definitely staying here when I pass through again!
Bonus: the cafe next door serves terrific breakfasts from 7AM.

This Motel was a step back into the past of the old country/cowboy days, however, our room was newly remodeled to reflect historical old town Hardin Mountana. The room was beautifully finished with hardwood floors, new subway tiles, historic cowboy fixtures, and wooden shelves. Outside a beautiful cozy bench with fluffy pillows awaited our arrival to sit and watch the sunset. This familly owned and operated business really showed by the wonderful hospitality expressed by Amy,Waylon and their children. As we finished our journey through Montana and headed home we were given homemade chocolate chip cookies and popcorn by the family. Amazing !! Will difinitely be coming back to this diamond in the ruff.
Thank you Amy,Waylon and family

I spent the night so I could be closer to the Custer battlefield and get an early start. The rooms are clean and newly renovating with some Lariat-themed details that lets you know the owner really cares and is upgrading an older block-constructed two story motel with doors opening on the parking lot. Wifi, coffee in the room, cable TV, an outside seat to relax in, new tile and flooring throughout, and upgraded AC and heating system. The owner lives there with his family, and there is a great family vibe in the office and reception area. There are good restaurants in town, and he steers you to the right spot.
On top of all that, when I told him I was going to the Little Big Horn battlefield, recommended I travel to the east end, which lets you walk through the chronological order of the fight. Skip Billings, and stay in Hardin!

Our family is so pleased to hear confirmation of our efforts to bring comfort to our guest. We do care greatly and are making every effort to make our motel a top stop for travelers visiting Montana. Our family vibe is real and all that we do here is a reflection of our effort to make a feeling of home away from home. Thank you so much for your review and staying our our family inn!

An in-room Keurig coffee maker which is not very common in hotels. I love coffee and that’s the best cup you can get. I appreciate that and the feeling I got here was that the owners were going “all-out” to make this vintage motel as agreeable to today’s hotel guest as possible. Fine linen and towels included and an ideal location for Hardin putting you within easy walking distance from a couple of good restaurants and a supermarket/pharmacy.
I had a great night and hope to make it back soon!

Thanks for appreciating our extra effort to go "all out"! Traveling can be challenging and sometimes disappointing. Seems that so many places are extorting guest and only concerned with the bottom line from corporate. We are constantly trying to improve our amenities and find ways to make our little oasis better everyday. Thanks for staying,m we sure look forward to seeing you again.

Had a wonderful time! My son and I have stayed here both during the summer months and winter and have had nothing but a great family experience. It is so conveniently located for all the3 amazing things Montana has to offer! The rooms are being remodeled but regardless if you stay in a remodeled room or a traditional room, you will find a clean, safe and homey environment. Staff is super friendly and the owners children are so cute! They make you feel at home! If you're on the fence, please give it a try! They will go above and beyond to make your experience a great one! I have stayed both during COVID-19 and before and I have never felt more safe at a hotel than here! Be sure to give Waylon, one of the owner's, a hard time! He will be sure to make you laugh! Thank you all for a wonderful time and many more to come!

We were traveling home from a Yellowstone visit and wanted to stay near the Little Bighorn National Monument on our trip home. i check for Hardin motels and we prefer staying at locally owned places. I noticed the Lariat and good reviews so other than stay at a chain we booked a reservation here. Turned out to be an excellent choice.

The Lariat had recently refurbished rooms that were very clean and comfortable. We were greeted by the owner who also provided us with a lot of local information about places to eat dinner and breakfast.

We really enjoyed our room and the recommendations we received from the owner were spot on for excellent dining.

I inquired about dog friendly and the owner said they have rooms specifically ready for pets which is important for us as we travel with or hunting dogs throughout the area.

I can highly recommend this as a stop for a clean, comfortable and pleasant night stop.

Thank you Michael for your review! Thank you also for supporting local small business such as ours! We so appreciate when folks get the word out about our little motel. Competing with the corporate chain juggernaut is tough. Our business plan is to provide a positive experience, an oasis on a trip from the chains that seem to dominate the landscape with the predictable.

We have stayed at the Lariat Motel many times, and over the years the owners have completely transformed the property.

There is so much love and thought into this vintage western motel!
You are welcomed to a beautiful wreath on each door and beautiful flowers throughout the property.

The beds, pillows, and bedding are very comfortable. The rooms are always cleaned to the highest standard (we stay at a lot of hotels and the Lariat is by far the cleanest!)

The bathrooms have beautiful tile, shelves in all the right places, and plush towels.

We enjoy sitting outside our room on the comfortable bench while we work remotely. The internet is fast and stable throughout each room.

The couple who owns the motel are very kind and thoughtful. The lariat gal even made us fresh chocolate chip cookies!
If you’re in the area, this motel is a must stay!

Brilliant!!! Your observations are thoughtful, considerate, and so meaningful to hear. Thank you Katy for making such effort to stay with the Lariat family every time you bring your family to beautiful Montana. That "Lariat Gal" is a real hoot and a cookie making pro. Maybe we should have opened a bakery! From our family to your family until we meet again may your travels be safe and your hearts filled with joy.

From the time we checked in until leaving, this motel absolutely amazed us. The owner greeted us and treated us as honored guests. The room was clean throughout and had a great deal of detail. For example, stitching in the bedside chair included a cowboy and added to the atmosphere of the town. The folding of towels, placement of shampoo and other items, as well as the temperature of the room gave us the impression of the motel employees wanting to “go the extra mile” in order to create a memorable stay. They succeeded in this endeavor in all respects. I highly recommend the Lariat Motel in Hardin, MT.

We were visiting friends and attractions and stayed at the Lariat Motel. We had a remodeled room that I found superior to most motels, and was quite surprised to find a room like this in a local motel. The owners were friendly and welcoming. We will definitely stay there again.

The husband and wife owners have converted standard motel rooms to make them more functional and more homey. We were in room 9 on the first floor, which we liked very much. There were people staying next door to us (they were checking in just ahead of us), and we did not hear any noise from them in our room. One of the people checking in was someone on vacation who was a repeat customer, which is an endorsement in and of itself.

The owners are extremely nice and helpful. We stayed here because it is very convenient to Little Bighorn Battleground National Monument. This is a great place to stay.
