Amazing hospitality and desire for you to have a good time. Facilities are rustic but super comfortable and clean.. The food is a religious experience. The guides that KFI hired for us were exceptional. Some hard fishing days on some really crappy weather days. Sure beat a day at the office! The weather really sucked with gale force winds and unseasonal freezing cold... that was no fault of the host and hostess...Brock and Jenny! Cannot rave quite enough...but you will not be disappointed!

Another great trip to the Big Horn River to fish, staying with Matt and Keri at Kingfisher. Very comfortable, great food and very good range of guises. Spent 3 days and 4 nights. Nice drive from Billings. Very close to Ft Smith for getting licenses and other needs. Has free WiFi.

Stayed here for our sixth trip with 5 friends. This lodge is located at the 3 mile put-in below the start of the Bighorn River. The lodge is run by a couple, Matt and Keri, a delightful outdoorsy duo who are the second owners. The place has 6 two bedded rooms and a Farmhouse that sleeps four. The decor and rooms are fishing- not spartan but comfortable. The food is outstanding and plentiful. Fishing guides can be organized by the lodge and ours have uniformly great. The biggest problem with the Bighorn is that once you go there , every other place is a step down.

Booked a fishing trip in October at Kingfisher Lodge. Had lengthy conversations with the owner about our expectations before booking the trip. He assured us that if we delay our trip by roughly 10 days that he would locate one of the best guides in the area to guide us down the river. Arrived as scheduled and the staff even commented that we had a great guide which they mentioned by name for our trip. The lodge was not busy at this time so I believe that had a major factor with the owner on delaying our trip. The morning of our first day the staff switched our guide out and sent him out with the other 3 people in the lodge. This was not a mistake but the typical bait and switch technique. One of the three other fisherman was a return guest so I’m sure this influenced their decision. We spent a great deal of money on this trip and had they carried through with their promises we would have been regulars for years to come. Our guide offered minimal assistance and pulled the boat over many times on the shore while he looked for rocks as we sat there. Definitely a stall technique to make sure he finished the float at the desired time. We could have wade fished instead if he needed to slow things down. Anglers beware, the owners live on the east coast not on site it’s decisions are corporate based and not always beneficial to the guests. I have to say the facilities are adequate and the food is very good and high quality. The owners need to carry through with their promises as we did everything agreed to on our end.

A group of eight of us went for the fly-fishing upon the enthusiastic recommendation of a friend with world-wide fishing experience. The lodge isn't very old. The fishing was outstanding and the lodge was far more comfortable and friendly than expected. A couple of us started our fishing day an hour before the rest of our party and the kitchen staff was happy about making up our breakfasts early. The well prepared menu was plentiful, hardy, and fresh. Breakfast and dinner are at the lodge with a box lunch being prepared to take on the river. The staff is most accommodating and friendly.

This is a fly-fishing lodge and we were not disappointed. Our guides were knowledgeable and furnished all needed equipment for those who had none of their own. I've fished for many years but rarely seen such consistently rising fish and especially with such uncrowded conditions.

If you take a non-fishing guest, there is no shopping though plenty to offer in the way of hiking and photography and, of course, boating. There are historical sites nearby ("Little Bighorn" of Custer's Last Stand fame). Some of our group ran six or so miles every morning before sun-rise; the roads are flat with minimal traffic and the "Big Sky" views for which Montana is justly known. You should know the entire area aquifer is high in sulfur which means a noticeable odor to the shower/bath. The owners (Keri is a runner if you want tips on where to run) are on-site and most accommodating. We will definitely be returning, with some planning on bringing their children to learn to fish.

We just returned from spending 3 night at the Kingfisher Lodge and we could not have had a better time/stay. Jenny and Brock's hospitality is over the top. The lodge is very comfortable and super clean. All of the meals were incredible. Added bonus-Fishing the Big Horn with great guides provided by the Lodge. Can't wait to go again next year!

Just returned from a wonderful adventure & stay at the Kingfisher Lodge. Traveled in a group of 14 avid fly fishers and a few of us novices.

First off, the hospitality by Matt & Keri can't be topped. Secondly, the lodge is comfortable and open...plenty of room for the group to gather indoors and out. Thirdly, the food is outstanding...morning, non and night.

We booked fishing guides thru the lodge...and the seven different groups of two guys per boat all claimed that "they had the best guide"!

If you want to experience fly fishing in Montana - you cannot go wrong here!

We spent June 10-15 at the Kingfisher lodge with the Cabela's Signature Club group. There were 12 guests there to fish from all over the USA, a Cabela's Club host and a Cabela's Club photography there for these great 5 days.

The entire lodge accommodations were awesome. The rooms were great with comfortable beds. The lodge has a nice deck to hand out in the evening with the other guests over drinks and appetizers.

Matt & Keri the owners, the cook staff and Mike who organized the guides were all outstanding. All meals were great and would compare to anything you will find anywhere in the fanciest restaurants I will guarantee you.

We loved our guide and will request him next year as we have booked for June 2018 and are thinking about a September date then too for just dry fly fishing. Even though water levels and flows were at an all time high, we caught a lot of fish each day due to our guides skills and experience.
