We only spent one night at the Rainbow Valley Lodge in Ennis, MT. The man at the desk was very cordial and very helpful. We were able to check in early which was nice. The room was spacious. The bathroom clean and well stocked. Although the water pressure in the shower could have been better, the water was hot. The lodge is easy to find and easy to get in to and out but it is a small town so there is that. Although we did not partake, they do provide a continental breakfast. They have Dish TV so lots of station choices. They do not have air conditioning but we did have two oscillating fans and screened windows so those were open as it was pretty warm out.

The only complaint is that whomever does the cleaning needs to pay a little more attention to the lesser important things. We found a cigarette lying on the floor by the bed and a clothing size strip stuck to the wall. Whomever bought some clothing tore the size strip off and stuck it on the wall.

We would stay here again if in the Ennis area.

We loved this historic lodge located just outside of downtown Ennis, which was close to excellent fishing and just an hour from the West-Yellowstone entrance.

Even though the lodge was about sixty years old, it has been very well cared for and the grounds and rooms meticulously maintained. They offer appealing, clean, quiet rooms with comfortable beds, a wonderful shower and plenty of room to move about. The owners offer guided fishing trips, and there is a heated swimming pool near the rooms. With just ten minutes driving distance to downtown restaurants and shopping, and very reasonable prices, this lodge is a winner.

Even if you are not a flyfisher stay here anyway. It isn't a fancy resort but it does have everything I needed and you won't find a more colorful place with the multitude of flowers. At around $100 a night you feel like you got a sweet deal too. The continental breakfast was better than I expected and was enough to last until lunch. No complaints from me other than the trout in Odell Creek had horrible aim or just like playing with anglers that are not on top of their game. I missed 15 in a row, a couple of which were quite large. At $60 a day I thought the creek was one of the prettiest places I have ever fished and well worth the price of admission. Hope it always stays private.

The Rainbow Valley Lodge is located just east of the town of Ennis, Mt. in the middle of the trout nirvana of the Madison River.
The owners, Ed and Jeannie Williams are what make the RBV special. They are great hosts and genuine people. The rooms are spacious and clean. The rates are reasonable and there is a continental breakfast and a fly shop.
We stay there each year because it is the best accomodations in southwest Montana.

Ed and Jeanne have an awesome place. Very well manicured. Rooms are clean and large. The perfect fly anglers place to stay. They have boot cleaning racks and hangers near your door to dry your waders or boots. They have a great little fly shop. And the continental breakfast is perfect for people on the go. Lots of selection of breads, pastries, hard boiled eggs, cereals, orange juice, coffee, hot cocoa, and milk. Huckleberry jam for the toast as well as individual Jif peanut butters. And this past weekend they had live music on their patio. Ed and Jeanne are very friendly and helpful. Great people. Rooms have a mini fridge and cable TV.

Ed and Jeanie are wonderful host, they make you feel like you are home. They brought in Cory to provide music to all the guests with a great meal. The accommodations are very welcoming and the staff are great people. River Borne Outfitters are great to fish with as well.

I love family-run motels and this one was lovely. We had a room with private patio. Cost a bit more as there was a kitchen with the room but so worth it. The regular rooms face the parking lot and you can sit outside those too and enjoy fresh air, but I love solitude & privacy when I creep out with my first cup of coffee or that evening glass of wine. We even saw llamas in a nearby field.
The owners were delightful and even though they had coffee in the lobby each morning, they delivered a full size pot to our room when I told them how important that was to me! Even in Montana some of us don’t want to be seen early in the morning-heck I even take 14 mile hikes with mascara in place!
Gift shop area was fun with nice shirt selection and all those flies too. Place was just outside of town. Loved it. Recommend it!! Be aware though that use of masks and social distancing was NOT happening here or in many small towns in Montana.....

Everything about the stay was superior. The room was spacious, clean, well appointed, well cared for and the beds comfortable. The setting was very pleasant, and the price was very reasonable. More than anything, the owners/hosts, Ed and Jeanne were very friendly and welcoming. Their reception area was a natural setting for guests to socialize. It was a fly shop on one side and a refreshment area on the other side, where a high quality continental breakfast was provided in the mornings. It’s a real quality operation.

Ed & Jeanne, the hard-working, incredible RVL Proprietors (for I believe nearly 35 years), are truly top notch & phenomenal in every single way. Their hospitality, friendless, & passion for their business is evident &, at the same time, memorable from the moment that you first meet these two. Their cabins are well-appointed, cozy, immaculate, & you will assuredly have a great night's rest. The lodge itself has very homey feel to it, a well-stocked & unique fly shop, as well as a delcious Continental Breakfast. If you're in the area (or looking to visit Ennis from outside the area), I highly recommend that you stay at RVL or, at the very least, stop in the lodge & check out their awesome flyshop! As a Montana native, I know a good place & good people when I see them, & this place undoubtedly qualifies by continually checking all the right boxes! There aren't mainly places like this left so seize the opportunity, you won't regret it!
