Had a two day stay at Skyline Guest Ranch, reserved months ago with the goal of fishing in Yellowstone with one of their guides. The June flooding changed our plans dramatically. Fortunately they were able to get us into the upper meadow of Pebble Creek Valley. Our guide Luke took the two of us on horseback deep into the backcountry where the fishing proved to be very good. As the day warmed and the fish started biting he moved us from hole to hole, run to run and scouted spots to cast to small Yellowstone cutthroat. Weather, scenery, fishing and company conspired to make a great day.
The Ranch packed a great lunch to keep our strength up. Our rides knew the trail and made the trip memorable.
The BandB is in a log lodge nestled into the pines and spruce, built from the trees left standing after a fire many years back. Our room was clean and comfortable with warm bedding and firm mattress. The room came with boot driers, large screened windows, plenty of hot water and soft towels.
Breakfasts are a set daily menu but with several options each day. Plenty to eat and healthy. Simple picnic tables with benches for joining the other guests and sharing our travel experiences and plans for the day.
A family owned and run business with multiple generations pitching in to make their guests’ experience pleasant and memorable. Only wished we had more time with them to enjoy the Cooke city/ Yellowstone experience.

What a great experience. We had 3 guys looking for a unique adventure of fly fishing in remote parts of Yellowstone National park. Luke and Colter took us to the Hellroaring river on our first day. The ride in was beautiful and we had a spectacular day of fishing dry flies (grasshoppersand spruce moths). We boulder hopped and caught over 150 cutthroat between the 3 of us. The fish ranged from 10-14 inches. The 2nd day Victor brought us to the Yellowstone canyon. Again the views were awesome. We fished hopper/droppers and caught some really nice cutts. Not as many fish that day but fish were bigger. The lodge is beautiful and the food was terrific. They feed their fisherman breakfast, lunch and dinner unlike the regular guests that only get breakfast. Breakfast was made to order. Sack lunches for fisherman were great and had tons of extra snacks. Dinners after a long day of riding and fishing were also amazing. Liz also makes the best homemade salted nut roll I have ever had. The whole family down to the grandkids participate in making your stay special. We plan to return with our families and maybe fish the Slough Creek and the Pebble creek next time. What a diamond in the rough!

Traveled with my husband and 3 kiddos the end of July. I was a little apprehensive staying there with our children, as they are busy bees, but Alex assured me it would be fine, and he was right! We were welcomed with open arms and never felt like we were a burden. There was a mix of customers while we were there - ranging from retired couples to families with teenagers and young children. Skyline is for everyone. All of the staff was so welcoming, from Alex who gave us a great tour, found my lost sunglasses, and was extremely patient answering all of my questions- to Trinity and Leonna who took us on the horseback ride of a lifetime! Those 2 gals were just awesome, patient, professional and kind. A true testament to the youth of America today, and an awesome hire for Skyline. We had the most fun afternoon doing the Broadwater Ride up to Kersey Lake. My 8 year old made the ride no problem, on trusty, patient Sandy! Being an 8 year old boy, he has a lot of energy but Leonna was REALLY good with him, patient and got him to listen well to her and do what she asked. I was really impressed. We crossed creeks and rivers, and trekked up to 8500 feet above a beautiful mountain lake. It was a pretty steep and rough ride but the horses were very sure footed and we had a great time. It is not your typical head to tail trail ride.

Laura was so kind to our family during breakfast and even offered to make more pancakes for my hungry crew, or scrambled eggs for kids who didn't like veggies in the breakfast bake. We enjoyed visiting with other groups each morning at breakfast and hearing about everyone's adventures for the day. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious and added a lot of value to the room price. Kameesha packed us sack lunches to take into the park one day as well, which worked well for our travel plans that day.

We stayed in the Yellowstone room, which worked very well for our family of 5. There is no air conditioning, but a fan was provided in our room. Each evening we would open the windows and our room door, get the fan going and it didn't take long at all to cool down our room. Every morning it was 46 degrees! The beds, sheets and pillows were all very comfortable. Each day housekeeping came through and tidied up our room which was very kind.

We loved Skyline so much that we recommended it to my parents who are traveling there next week. It was a great stay to base out of for a Yellowstone trip- being just 2 minutes out of Cooke City, and about 5 min from the NE entrance. You travel through Lamar Valley once in the park which was a wildlife mecca while we were there.

Someday we will be back, this time for a longer horseback ride and some fishing. Until then, we will be dreaming our of quiet early mornings on the balcony with a cup of coffee, a good book, and fresh mountain air!

Keep this place full, but quiet. It is a diamond in a field of gems. Liz = wonderful (person, cook, host, list goes on)

Rooms were huge. We had 4 people and stayed in the Yellowstone room. Our daughter (12) and son (17) fought over who was to sleep in the loft bed! Staying several nights we alternated.

Being from Texas, we just opened the windows at night and it was COOL no AC needed.

Comfy beds, quiet neighbors (guests), horse rides offered, fly fishing offered, great breakfast (if you leave too early just let her know and she will pack a sack breakfast for ya)

When we go back we will stay here again.

7 miles is no time up there in that area.

Recommended to us by a local, we were pleased to find they had a very reasonable $75/per person rate. Upon arrival we were greeted by the father son duo of golden retrievers and their rescue pup. A beautiful guest house built by our guides grandfather with real character and warmth provided the welcoming check in deak. Their horses were gentle, beautiful, and confident. We even saw Mayhem, a week old colt. Our guide Kameisha was an excellent combination of friendly, patient, fun, and generous with her time and knowledge. We went up and down hills, through a lake, and across a meadow. The meaning phrase Big Sky Montana was now understood by us. Don’t miss a chance to experience this. It was my first time in a horse and I will definitely be going again. Here are a few photos of our group, me and Bessie, Ace- the leader of the pack, and baby Mayhem. 5+++stars from me.

We are both 68 years young and stayed for three days. The horseback trip through the mountains was fantastic and filled with gorgeous views. The ride is authentic and doable by most everyone as The horses are so
Steady and sure footed. The hosts of the ranch are friendly and helpful. Accomodations are clean and peaceful. We brought a cooler which was very helpful as the closest town, Cooke City, isn’t exactly a food Mecca. Therefore, we brought items we wanted and replenished ice when needed. Breakfast is the only meal we were allocated and it was substantial and delicious. This vacation was a very positive and lovely experience

Absolutely first class lodging in a rustic lodge / bed and breakfast setting. The lodge is a family owned property with people who clearly have pride and experience in doing it as good as it gets. Very well set up and very, very clean, welcoming, and organized. This is the Ritz Carlton for the north eastern entrance of Yellowstone/Cooke City area except there is a stable and a fire pit on the front lawn. My wife and I spent five nights there and had a wonderful stay. We spent each day going in and out of the park and never saw any lodging that even came close.Go. You will not be disappointed.

Skyline was a wonderful home base for us as we explored Yellowstone Natl Park. We really appreciated our hosts' warm hospitality and the rustic, beautiful setting. Our bedroom was spacious, homey, and quiet, and the ample home-cooked breakfasts were delicious. If we're lucky enough to come back to Yellowstone, we'd definitely look forward to another stay at Skyline!

The ranch has an inviting, relaxing, laid-back atmosphere - the family and staff are friendly and helpful. Our room was thoughtfully decorated, the breakfasts hearty and delicious, and the late afternoon fires in the firepit a real treat ... perfect place for a book and glass of wine. Our highlight was the day-long horseback trail ride through the Beartooth Mountains ... just my husband, me and our guide. We rode and then hiked up to a beautiful lake, enjoyed a packed lunch along the way, and rode back. We also enjoyed dinners at the local restaurants in Cooke City, and a quick visit to Silver Gate, both close to the northern entrance to Yellowstone. Highly recommend!

Skyline Guest Ranch and Guide Services in the REAL deal! Our group of fly fishermen, have been using Skyline for years. The accommodations at the lodge are incredible. Delicious breakfast included. Vic, Liz and family really takes care of you. We have been going out to Cooke City early July. The multi night backcountry fly fishing trips into Yellowstone is just fabulous. Vic, Luke, and the boys are hard workers, and make your time in the backcountry amazing. Our group have been taking the full service fly fishing pack trips into Yellowstone’s Slough Creek(Third Meadow). Nothing like having that Native Yellowstone Cutthroat trout taking your dry fly! Great for couples too. My wife and I reserved a week at the Lodge few years ago. Northeast entrance to Yellowstone only 4 miles away. Great Day trips though Beartooth Highway to Red Lodge. Joseph Highway to Cody. Location, Location Location! Honest reasonable rates for accommodations and Guide Services. Relax and enjoy the outdoors of Yellowstone’s. Thanks Vic and Liz for the years.

Yes, Skyline Guest Ranch has laundry facilities that you are welcome to use in the evenings. We only serve breakfast in the summer season. Breakfast and dinner in the winter. There is a small common refrigerator and microwave in the dining room for the guests to use, there is also a barbecue grill out on the deck and a campfire pit that you are welcome to use.
