The Voss Inn is Bozeman's ONLY Downtown bed and breakfast inn. Only 3 blocks from Main Street it is walking distance from all downtown shops and restaurants as well as the Museum of the Rockies. The Voss Inn is truly a Victorian home for people who enjoy fine lodging as well as personal service and hospitality. A lovingly restored circa 1883 Victorian mansion on a tree-lined street in Bozeman's most beautiful historic neighborhood, The Voss Inn offers six elegant guest rooms, with private baths. Each guest room remains true to the old-fashioned Victorian charm. Large comfortable beds, full bath facilities, plush terry bathrobes and plenty of space to make you feel at ease and pampered.

We enjoyed one evening at the Voss Inn as we made our way to Yellowstone as few months back. While I say it was not a particularly remarkable place, that is not a complaint. It is typical of most Victorian B&Bs - lots of frill and lace and other bric-a-brac, creaky wooden stairs, tricky locks, etc.. What counts it that the innkeepers made every effort to make us feel welcomed and most importantly (to us), served a nice and delicious cooked breakfast! The location can't be beat - right around the corner from Bozeman's cute little downtown.

This would be a fine choice for anyone looking to stay in the area. We'd have no problem staying again.

I only stayed at the Voss Inn for two nights and wish I could have stayed longer. I had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. The breakfasts were delicious, and the B&B was just a short walk from downtown Bozeman.

For people who like inns, the Voss Inn will be a great place to stay. The Inn itself is charming and owners Bruce and Frankee could not be more delightful. Breakfast is outstanding (it will be hard to make a choice, but I strongly recommend Frankee's homemade granola). The inn is also just three blocks from Main street with its great restaurants, shops, and things to do.

Excellent breakfast, great location but the woman who runs the place seems very burned out and is not very friendly- we did not feel welcome and that is something I do expect from a high-priced B & B. The husband was nicer but we didn't see him as much. Beds not up to standard. I would not recommend this B & B. Too bad because the food and location are great. MIght have been a good place to stay when it was first opened and the owners were more into it. Seems like they are now doing it for the money and not because they love it.

We stayed on the main floor and our room was fine...nothing plush but comfortable. The location is wonderful...quiet but near the hub of things. We had to leave very early so were not able to enjoy breakfast. They did have a couple of muffins for us but we couldn't find the promised coffee.

We recently stayed one night at the Voss Inn. We were in the Armstrong room. It is way too small for two people with luggage. You could not move in the room. The air conditioner was extremely loud and the water pressure in the shower was non-existent. The breakfast was delicious. I would agree with other reviewers that felt the owner was less than thrilled to have guests. I felt like we were bothering her if we had to ask a question.

The Voss Inn did not meet our expectations. We have stayed at several Bed and Breakfasts in this price range and the Voss would rate at the bottom. It is in need of some serious upkeep and general tidying. It seems to be a source of income for the Innkeepers and not much more.
One example - we were served tea in the afternoon along with some below average pastries. The tea service, uneaten pastries and dirty dishes were still on the table when we left the next day. The Inn keepers were friendly enough but did not go out of their way to ensure that our stay was pleasant.
I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I wasn't going to write after my stay but I had to write post vacation because I can't believe the 5 star ratings either. We stayed there 2 of the 3 nights we originally had booked. Place looked far better on the web site. The owners were not friendly, nor helpful. Frankie didn't say welcome or anything when we arrived. She stood at the door and I had to explain that I was there for my room. No smile, no welcome, no happiness. When she showed us to our room I felt like I had entered a boarding school and was met with rule after rule after rule.
We stayed in a larger suite because of the air conditioning, which only worked if you didn't use the other electrical plug ins. The inn stated wi-fi but it wasn't accessible from the room. One had to sit in the "antique" parlor. The furniture was period but terrible to sit on. We kept thinking , as it creaked, that the chairs were going to break . The blinds sure did when we pulled them down for shade. We fixed that problem ourselves. The shower curtain was dirty and uncomfortable and the entire place had seen better days years ago.
When we discussed a couple of our concerns the owner gentleman ( I say loosely) was rude, rolled his eyes and was most condescending to this paying guest. We were told we could have coffee in the morning but there were only 2 cups , already used and no one else refilled the carafe. We were out of luck.
I love a period house but it should be equipped with furniture that fits the part and yet is practical. All the buttons on the parlor sofa popped off when one sat down.
Overall impression of the Voss Inn was a house that had seen many better days
( years?) and that the owners were burning out.
The breakfast was delicious and the only joy I got from staying there were the stories and adventures of the other guests.
I could go on with all the problems we had, but I can't give this place any more of my time. I am so glad we left early. I liked the location but would never give them my hard earned cash again.

I stayed with my parents in early spring (Feb I think). I have never left a review before, but I strongly regret not leaving one for the Voss Inn sooner. I am leaving one now because I can't believe all the positive comments here and feel like I need to share an alternate opinion.

When we first got there, I predicted an enjoyable stay in a historic house. When we got to the front door, I thought we must have come to the wrong house, because the man who opened the door seemed put out that we were there and did not seem at all welcoming. We had the Sartain room on the first floor at the front of the house. The bathroom is okay, but the heavy, incomplete curtain that goes with the tub is strange and not at all luxurious (as they claim on the website). The beds were uncomfortable and I had a lot of trouble keeping the room warm enough. The plumbing is loud, especially other people's plumbing.

Because we were three, we had arranged in advance for a roll-away so we could all stay in the same room. Although the owners said this was okay when we made our booking, when we got there, they hadn't provided it and they seemed really frustrated and surprised when we asked about it. They did get it to us though.

The inn is no smoking (as expected), however smoking was allowed outside in a designated area. My father did smoke outside (ONLY), but the innkeeper called our room and accused him of smoking in the room because he had smelled smoke when he dropped off the roll-away. We suggested that the smell was likely from Dad's jacket, but the innkeeper continued to be rude about it. He called again later that evening to remind us that the room was non-smoking only and that he would ask us to leave if we continued smoking in the room.

Breakfast was really, really good and the girl who served it was very personable and chatted with us about Bozeman and the surrounding area.

When we were getting ready to leave about lunch time the next day, we started looking for the inkeeper so we could let them know we were leaving, and make sure that there was nothing else to take care of before we left town. Although we had previously discussed our time of departure with them, we couldn't find anyone and after waiting around a while, we finally had to leave (I was trying to avoid driving west across the mountains in the dark, as it tends to be icy).

Overall, our stay was unfortunate, but what happened after we got home really iced the cake. A woman called from the Voss Inn for the express purpose of harassing my mother about our night there. She didn't have any other reason. She again accused us of smoking in the room, which we ABSOLUTELY did NOT). She wasn't explaining additional charges to the credit card for cleaning, but was sure to emphasize that they had had to have the whole room cleaned (including shampooing the carpets!), weird, since I only remember one area rug over wood floors. She continued to criticize us for leaving without "checking out" and couldn't seem to understand that we did try to find someone for that, but were unable to. Additionally, we were apparently rude to the other guests (which we didn't see except over 1 breakfast).

Mom's final phone call from that woman made it clear that we were not welcome again (Wait, we were welcome the first time? I did not notice that). I wouldn't stay again even if it means staying at the Super 8 instead.

We stayed at the Voss Inn in late September. After arriving dusty and tired from driving up from Yellowstone, we found the Voss Inn to be welcoming and charming. Frankie greeted us with an afternoon tea and provided us with a wonderful recommendation for an afternoon walk and a place for dinner. The Inn is very well located -- just 2 blocks from the main street and walking distance to Montana State. Overall, this is the place we will stay for all of our future visits to the Bozeman area.
