Nestled in the heart of Bozeman, the AC Hotel Bozeman Downtown is lauded for its impeccably clean and spacious rooms, despite occasional HVAC issues and reports of a sulfur odor. The property's luxurious atmosphere, particularly its rooftop bar, and its prime location close to downtown hotspots, earn high marks from guests.
While the hotel's value is debated, with some questioning the cost of extras, the attentive service and comprehensive amenities, including the much-appreciated friendly staff, are frequently celebrated by travelers.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed at the ACHotel Friday, July 8. This is a new hotel that has only been open two months. The hotel is located one block from the main street and in the center of town. While we weren't given the room category we had booked due to their being oversold, they comped food and also reimbursed the difference in room charges. The room was excellent. It was well laid out with built-in furniture for laying your suitcases open and a large desk. There were several internet outlets. The bathroom was will laid out and there was a wonderful rainforest shower. The lobby in the hotel was large and there was ample room to sit and relax. The restaurant on the top floor of the hotel had a great view of the surrounding area. The downside was the restaurant did was not equipped to deal with a large number of diners. We waited for a long time at the table to get a menu and then to order. We finally left. But I would definately choose the ACHotel again and I believe that the kinks with the restaurant will hopefully be worked out. The hotel staff went out of their way to be helpful.

I visited Montana for the first time with my daughter to visit MSU. We arrived late on a Friday night and all of the staff is amazing. It is important that I mention a few wonderful people that gave us an exceptional experience. The first one was David at the valet, it was late, we were tired, and he was so helpful and friendly. Later that evening, we had the pleasure of receiving assistance from Josiah he went out of his way to deliver a toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss to our room very late at night, and he had a charming, friendly, delightful personality. the next day when we left, I needed to print a parking pass and I had neglected to do it before traveling. I was late and Jenna was so kind and helpful at the front desk. She went above and beyond to help me get a printed copy of that parking pass so that we could enjoy our tour of the college. Every person we encountered was top-notch, but these three really stood out.. and as if that wasn’t enough, the beds were so cozy and we slept amazing.

Loralw2023, Thank you so much for the kind review of our property! I know that our overnight staff will be especially appreciative of the recognition as they don't usually have as much guest interaction as the rest of the team. It's great to hear that they went above and beyond for you. If your daughter does decide to attend MSU we would love to see you again next year! Tom Mazurek Assistant General Manager

I have stayed at the AC on numerous occasions and the experience never gets old. In SW Montana it is absolutely unrivaled! Every time I arrive, I am reminded of what top tier service looks like and what a nearly perfect hotel experience should be. The environment oozes luxury and respite. The valets are never anything but sincerely friendly, the concierge is beyond attentive, rooms are never left uncleaned and the location is as close to all of Bozeman’s best restaurants, bars, shopping and other attractions as possible. On this particular stay, I was even approached by the Manager, Erica who went out of her way to visit with us and make absolutely certain that the stay was everything we could ask for. She emanated genuine concern! After a long day of meetings on the first night, I returned late and found the bartender closing up shop. Despite probably being eager to head home, she was friendly, conversant and happy to serve. In an era of QR code scanning, self-pay and yet ever-inflating standards for what is a minimally acceptable tip, this barkeep provided some of the very best service I’ve seen since the dawn of Covid. How refreshing! Lastly, I would be remiss to not mention the incredible breakfast that the AC offers—a perfect blend of made-to-order meals provided by a characteristically congenial and skilled waitstaff and a help-yourself breakfast bar where gourmet espressos, fresh fruit, croissants, mounds of prosciutto, cheeses and other delicacies await. A true 5 star experience!

Average hotel with poor customer service. The rooftop bar was nice but the front desk staff was unfriendly and unhelpful. We requested to use a suite night and we’re given a basic room and we’re told it was an upgrade because it faced the mountains (and a car park).

Dear EKM-CA, Thank you for writing a review on our hotel and we are disappointed you didn't have a great stay. As we always are looking for ways to improve we take all comments as a chance to make guest experience better! We would love to welcome you back again in the winter, the mountains are really beautiful at sunset with snow. The large windows in the rooms intend to give the best views from any direction. I take care of all customer service inquiries and would be more than happy to discuss your requests pre-arrival. Best regards, Jenna

If you ever stay here, make sure to ask for a room in the back of the hotel because the rooms on Mendenhall Ave. are EXTREMELY loud. Saturday night the loud muffler sounds and car racing sounds lasted until 2:00am.
On Monday and Tuesday mornings at 7:30am the loudest muffler sounds in a continuous pattern lasted for 30-45 minutes. Could this have been teens on their way to high school? Are there muffler laws in MT? It was terrible.
The sliding glass door in the bathroom is the worst....no privacy whatsoever for sounds.

Dear crunch6, We are sorry to hear you had so much noise from the street. Typically, we have a peaceful location, set off of Main Street downtown and find it to be ideal for quiet nights. There must have been more traffic than usual. Also, regarding the bathroom door- we hope to create a modern and nice atmosphere for guests in whatever way possible so we are sorry this design did not work for you. We hope to get you in a Mountain View Room facing the Bridgers may you find yourself here again! Best, Jenna

Stayed here two nights for a business trip and utilized the conference room at the hotel. The friendliness of the staff is exceptional, for example they provided excellent restaurant recommendations and loaned out bear spray. Hotel is clean and modern. Lobby bar and rooftop bar are both a plus. $35 per night for valet parking seems excessive, especially when the parking lot is not paved and is unsecured. The valet fee is adequately disclosed when you make a reservation, but for this price expected more than parking in a grass / gravel lot. The valets did provide great service. A few issues with the room. Like all lower end Marriotts, they utilize a thermostat that runs on a motion detector. This means the HVAC unit constantly cycles off and on, and there is no way to have constant fan noise. The first night of the stay, the thermostat would not switch from heat to cool. I reported this to the front desk, and a hotel employee was nice enough to immediately come to the room, but was unable to switch from heat to cool. I was also told there is no way to override the thermostat control to allow for a constant fan. The heat - air conditioning issue was fixed the next day. Also, the room had a sulfur like smell when you entered, I did not report this to the front desk, everyone else at the meeting I attended had the same issue. So - two nights of limited sleep because the room was hot the first night, and the constant cycling off and on of the HVAC the second. Because this was not a good environment for a decent night’s sleep, I would not stay at this hotel again.

Hi Hannibal81, Thanks for your detailed review. I'm so glad our staff took great care of you, but I'm really sorry to hear about the issues with your room. That's not the experience we want to provide. We'll look further into the HVAC and also the smell to make sure they're addressed. Our $30 valet parking does actually include secure, climate-controlled indoor parking; the lot behind us actually belongs to the hotel next door, so our valets run vehicles over to a nice covered garage nearby. I can see how that would be confusing, but our guests can rest assured their vehicles are safe and not exposed to outdoor temperatures in the extreme heat or cold. Thanks for bringing all of this to our attention, we'll do better next time. Please feel free to contact me directly at 406-982-7920 if you would like to give us another try in the future. We would love to take great care of you and show you a much better experience. Sincerely, Erica Olenick - General Manager

Another Marriott with sloppy “service.” Running out of coffee in the lobby in the morning is one of the worst thing that can happen in a hotel with an easy fix. Is it that difficult?
This hotel looks nice, but the staff doesn’t care. Zero room service after being told rooms get daily attention. I find this is consistent with Marriott across the board - they blame staff shortages and C19 for not servicing rooms, but they truly cannot be bothered. All the while the cost of their mediocre rooms increase and amenities diminish. I have been a very loyal Marriott customer but I’ll go somewhere else.

Hi Bunny22314, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I am so sorry to hear it was not a better one! We have a team full of people who do really care about the guest experience and we are disappointed that we missed the mark, with coffee and any miscommunication or oversight about housekeeping. If I’ve learned anything over the years in hospitality, it’s that mistakes can happen on the service side, but if you speak up and give us a chance to make things right, the right team will always do our best to ensure you have a better experience. I welcome you to reach out directly to me if we can take the opportunity to help you recover from a less than perfect experience now. Again I appreciate the time you took to write this, and hope your next Marriott stay is better. Best, Erica Olenick - General Manager 406-602-1072

The good: The place is brand new and the location is great. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Common areas are all modern and attractive. The rest: The room was very up to the minute featuring stark minimalist (aka cheap) decor with nothing but hard surfaces. This is fine but the downside was noise being a huge issue on our stay. It sounded like our upstairs neighbors were noisily moving furniture which probably wasn't the case but sound transfer was really bad. Staff relocated us to a top floor room to their credit. Another annoyance - the bathroom faucet was of the auto shut-off variety found in public restrooms. Have never seen this before in a hotel and absolutely hated it. Also, there is some sketch stuff going on in the municipal parking garage across the street - kids drag racing or just up to general mischief into the night. I was heckled as I unloaded my vehicle. Kids being kids but my advice is to get a top floor room not facing the Mendenhall St.

I stay at this hotel several times a year. On the up side: This hotel is new. It is quite clean and well appointed. The staff is pleasant. Jose the valet is excellent. On the down side: the hotel is a bit fee and extra charge happy when compared to alternatives. The daily parking rate is excessive. The hotel was likely built by folks from out of state because in the winter, it is cold. Don’t ask for a shuttle. There is none. Don’t ask for anything requiring a maintenance department. On my last stay, there was none. They had me change rooms but wouldn’t let me move from one room to another. Instead I had to bring my stuff to the lobby then be given a new room. Highly inconvenient way of switching rooms. When it snows heavily, the television and internet goes out. The European breakfast is curious. No orange juice and limited fruit offerings. They do offer multiple scrambled egg variations.
There you have it.

Dear FrequenthotelguestDK, Thank you for your review. It's great to hear our valet and hotel team were able to accommodate you. Parking is difficult to find in the downtown area which is why valet tends to be the easiest option for our business travelers. I apologize you had to come to the front desk to change rooms, we have since changed that procedure as we have more staff! Please do try our European style breakfast during your next stay as the chef prepares tasty a la carte options and the spread at the counter has excellent alternatives to a classic American breakfast, like manchego cheese. We hope to welcome you back again in the near future, ¡Salud!
