We stayed here for two nights over the 4th of July holiday. Pro tip: the neighbors put on a fireworks display like no where else in the area... Our primary goal was fly fishing for the first time and on all counts we had a wonderful experience. One day on the Upper Madison drifting and another on the Gallatin. Different guides and different styles on both days. The second day revealed one of the main advantages of the lodge, their location allows fishing down the Gallatin and landing on the property to take out. This option is not available elsewhere which meant we saw no one else on the water past the put in spot the whole day! Worth it just for that. The other advantages manifest right after arrival. The hosts are warm and friendly and take care of everything. The property is well maintained and has a rustic but comfortable feel. Our bed (Yellowstone Room) was very comfortable, soft pillows and nice linens. Breakfast and lunch provided were tasty with plenty of variety. The common area was comfortable with plenty of room and amenities (pool table, darts, music, books, games and wet bar). They also had plenty of good recommendations for places to eat nearby and further afield for dinner. We arrived with nothing more than clothes and sunscreen and everything else was provided to make our fishing experience a successful one. The weather was excellent, water levels good and the fish were biting. Overall a perfect introduction and one we would easily repeat. I will say the photos don't fully convey the quality and comfort of the property. We were expecting a bit more rustic accommodation which turned out to be far nicer than anticipated. This met or exceeded the comfort of the other properties we stayed in during our trip (RSVP Motel and Marriott Big Sky Wilson Hotel).

What a wonderful experience.  I took my 16 year old grandson to Montana to fly fish.  Our experience with Julie and Jason exceeded both of our expectations and created memories that will last forever. .The boy caught more fish than he could have imagined and he left a much better fly fisherman.  Our guide for three days, Josh Stanish, could not have been better.   Our stay and the food could not have been better.  Julie and Jason are wonderful hosts, in part, because they are great people.  The food prepared by Julie was equally wonderful.   All this from a person who normally does not leave reviews but in this case I had to.

WOW! Had been at Yellowstone all day with no cell and tried booking a last minute guided fly fishing float for our last day in Bozeman when we left the park after 6pm for the next am. Pretty tall order considering almost all of the flyshops from Livingston to Bozeman were closed or already booked for the next am. I googled the Bozeman area where we preferred to be and Julie answered even though it was after 7pm by then. She said she was booked solid, but was compassionate for our needs as she could tell I had my heart set on finding a guide. She said she would do her best and get back to us. By 830pm she had a guide all lined out and told us where to stop and get our fishing license on the way to her place in the am. It was perfect! We stopped at Fly and Feather when they opened at 8 and easily made it to her lodge by the 830 start time where we met Brandon our guide. He took us to stock up with anything special we might want (a few light beers and some extra snacks though they provided the nice lunch sandwiches and chips). We set out for the lower Madison and had a FANTASTIC day!! He patiently taught us how to fly fish by spending a little time in the water practice casting and then we set out! The lesson paid off as I caught a nice rainbow on my first cast out! We highly recommend this place along with Brandon, he was so passionate about this sport and knowledgeable and most importantly a good teacher.

Can’t understand why there aren’t more recent reviews. Maybe people are hiding this gem for themselves. Thanks so My wife and I spent two nights and 1 1/2 days here. We are so happy we did. Jason and Julie are both hard working and honest folks. My wife and I aren’t novice but certainly not expert fly fishers but Jason was an outstanding guide and made our day very memorable. We fished the Madison and caught about 10 each. Nothing real big but some nice fighters. The lodge is impeccably clean and apportioned and well located. We highly recommend this stay and fishing adventure

Stayed in late June - location is perfect right along the Gallatin River - there's a firepit with smores waiting for you in the back, along with a jacuzzi. A short walk takes you to a cabin right on the river with rocking chairs and access straight to the water -- wanted to sit there all day. The Lodge itself is well equipped - pool table/bar/tv/comfortable beds & linens, fresh flowers etc. Great hearty breakfast full of choices. Hosts are fantastic lovely people - charming, kind and eager to assist in anyway. They helped arrange a full day of flyfishing with a really fun guide, Josh - we all had a blast (including our 11yr old for which a full day of fishing could be a really long day) and the fish were ON! We enjoyed it so much we hope to make it an annual trip! Really great hosts and lodge!

Julie and Jason were great but hosts. Jason will help a rookie learn the techniques of fly fishing and take you fishing to catch your trout. Can't say enough about the lodging and food. Thank you again for everything, Julie. Can't wait to come back!!! Highly recommend.

I have had the opportunity to stay at many lodges and B&B's, from Newfoundland to Costa Rica. I must say that TroutChasers ranks among the top two or three I've experienced. While it's located on the fairly busy Highway 191, and not terribly far from Bozeman, once you cover the several-hundred-yard gravel drive to the lodge, you are transported into a different world entirely. The Lodge is located on 30 acres of land along the Gallatin River, and is perfectly suited to the wants and needs of the Montana traveler. Before commenting on the facility, I have to say a word about the proprietors, Jason and Julie Fleury. From the moment we stepped through the front door, we felt like we were good friends of this great couple. At the same time, Julie made it clear that any request for information or special needs would be immediately accommodated. She helped us through a few wrinkles which inevitably pop up while travelling. Meanwhile, Jason guided us on our first day on the Gallatin, and a friend/fellow guide (Josh) took us out on the Yellowstone for another trip. The fishing was great, the instruction exactly as we'd hoped for, and the laughs and camaraderie were non-stop. The lodge and associated amenities are top notch. A great room, billiard room/bar, and dining room constitute the common indoor areas. All are tastefully decorated in lodge style and are maintained spotlessly. Our room, on the second floor, was similarly appealing and equally clean, and spacious as well. Outdoors there is a hot tub, fire pit and bar area, and a fire was set and burning each night we stayed. The river frontage looks like great trout water, although we didn't fish it. There is a small cabin down by the river, open to guests for relaxing or enjoying a beverage between casts. Also, there is a two-bedroom, two-bath cabin with loft available for rent, for families or small groups who would like the availability of a full modern kitchen to cook meals. Julie was nice enough to show us through the cabin, which is every bit as nice as the lodge. Gardens on the property, with herbs and vegetables, are well-kept, and the eggs Julie will prepare for you any morning you desire come from the lodge's own chickens. A tasty quiche was also available each morning, along with a wide assortment of yogurt, fresh fruits, dry and hot cereal, and waffles. Should you choose to have dinner at the lodge you won't be disappointed, as Julie works with a local caterer who comes up with great appetizers, main courses and desserts. Special dietary needs can be accommodated as well. We've traveled a lot, and I am probably a harder grader than the average reviewer on this site. I don't give out many "5's", but in the case of TroutChasers I have no reservations about doing so. We will stay here again.

First, this is a well appointed lodge, that feels like home. From the gourmet meals, to the open bar, pool table, fire pit out back, comfy leather chairs and beds, every need is thought of and attended to. Thanks to Jason and Julie for making this adventure so comfortable! We had a great guide service that made the fishing simple, and I learned a lot about how to fly fish the right way. Josh, our guide, was very patient with my friend and I, and gave us many helpful pointers. We took his advice and have much better luck on outings since we stayed. I've already booked for next year! If you want to go on a guided fishing trip, come here...and it's also just a great place to stay if you're headed to Yellowstone, or the backcountry in Montana.
