After 4 days in Lewistown we spent two nights at the the DoubleTree winding down and enjoying the history of Billings. The location was great, staf was too. (love the baked cookies at the front desk). By the time we left for the airport to had back to the East Coast we were refreshed and happy to have takin in the sights of Billings.

This is a very old, dated hotel. We had constant issues with the hot water. The staff suggested that we run it for 15-30 minutes before we take a shower. We stayed in one of their suites, which are quite nice (for how old the hotel is). They had two full bathrooms and large dining room area which was nice. We had to call maintenance couple of times but they were prompt, pleasant and competent (solved all our issues immediately).

The price unfortunately doesn't match the quality.

I came to Billings to perform with the symphony this March, and they housed me in the DoubleTree for a week. With included coffee and cookies (at the front desk) it had just enough complimentary items to really feel welcoming. The internet service was fast and worked steadily along with room service of getting any extra items you need being brought to your room. You can control temperature with heat and cool in room!! Overall it was quite a positive stay.

My husband and I visited the hotel as part of our honeymoon. First, once we got our room, we went up to the room to inspect it before we bought our belongings up. During the inspection, the bathroom was unbelievable; the ceiling had chipping/peeling paint and the ceiling was also bubbling. In addition, there was dirt and debris in the bathtub. When we went to the lobby to let the front desk know about the issue and to possibly have a room change, the worker did not seem concerned about the issue but did quickly change our room.
Next, my husband and I decided we were going to have dinner in the hotel's restaurant, and once we went to restaurant we had to wait about 10 minutes before another guest suggest we walk into the kitchen to get the hostess/server. We were confused by why there was no workers to be seen, and there were two other couples seated, and why a customer told us to go walk into the kitchen to get the hostess/server. We declined the customer's suggestion, and this caused the customer to go into the kitchen to get the hostess/server, and the hostess/server then told us she had other things to get done and we would not be able to be seated for another 15 minutes. This caused my husband and I to leave the hotel and go to another establishment for dinner.
Lastly, once my husband and I returned to our hotel room after dinner, I decided that I was going to take a shower. I turned the shower on and talked to my husband for about two minutes, as a way to heat the water up. After returning to the shower, there was about six inches of water in the bathtub and the water was not draining, and I immediately turned the shower off. I double checked to make sure the drain was open, and my husband checked as well (the drain was open). It took about 20 minutes for the six inches of water to drain. I was unable to shower that night, because it was late and my husband and I did not feel like having to change rooms again.

We drove 8 hours to Billings to watch our sons play football got to the motel late checked in and ordered room service they don’t allow to to eat in the restaurant but didn’t inform us it would be an extra 25 to bring it to our room. 105.00 later and my steak was like charcoal and my potatoes were cold. Our drink tasted like pool water.. our room was disgusting found a toenail next to the bed and pubes in the bathtub. They sent us to another room where the light wouldn’t turn on apparently the prongs on the light were messed up and couldn’t plug it in. And found a candy wrapper and pubes in the bathtub. Gave us an upgraded room which wasn’t any better but had one bed we needed two beds and it was 11 by now so we left this was the worst experience ever and I highly recommend staying somewhere else.

As far as how nice the building is and clean it was, I’m not staying there again because the service and parking were atrocious. First of all, when we arrived after a long drive, the parking lot was only five rows and only a few spots on those rows. Parking garage was a hot mess. Secondly, it was such a tight drive space people had to play chicken or “who’s going to move first” game. When I called the guest services desk my calls went straight to an answering machine three times before I finally spoke to a human... When I eventually spoke to said human, they huffed and puffed with great irritation that I asked for two towels. I said I would go and get the towels but they told me it would be brought up. Next morning still no towels, so I went downstairs to request them again, and again, they told me it would be brought up. The towels were eventually brought up after 20 mins. Next rant, and most important one, THERE WAS NO COMPLIMENTARY COFFEE! First world problems right!? But if I’m paying an expensive rate with my hard earned money, the least you could do is have some coffee in the lobby or breakfast area... I went to the restaurant and waited five minutes at 0605, a little past opening, and no one was there to greet me. All I wanted was some dang coffee. Hahaha. Rant over. Positives: everyone was friendly, other than phone call, and hotel was chic but would not stay again because of my personal experience.

During this pandemic it’s hard to find places along a cross country trip that is open, but we were lucky to find this great hotel. It is one of the fewest that has a restaurant that provides room service. Although the menu was limited it was ample. We have to do our current trip in reverse in about a month so I hope by then things will be more back to “normal” to really enjoy this hotel.

I stayed in 3 different rooms over the duration of my stay. Each one felt gross. When housekeeping was requested they didn’t come. When I called for towels they took 2 hours to get them to me, and only brought the bath towels, no wash cloths or hand towels. Bathroom door in 1610 wouldn’t close in one of the rooms due to it hanging off the hinges. The wallpaper in the rooms were peeling off the walls. The parking lot was blocked off for 3 days when they only had it reserved for 1. Their restaurants Montana Sky was horrible quality food, overpriced, and also took over an hour each time I attempted ordering from them. I’m a diamond member with Hilton and this is BY FAR THE WORST PROPERTY I’VE STAYED AT. Don’t waste your time or energy here.

Great location, friendly staff but the room we had was in pretty rough shape. The room had not been dusted very well and the furniture was all dinged up. The bathroom drains drained slow and we had black stinky water coming up the shower drain one morning that was disgusting. You are really paying for the location because the rooms do not match the price tag.

I chose to stay here because I have had reasonably good experiences with Doubletree in the past. However, this hotel is not worthy of that name. It's impossible to find the entrance because of bad street signage. You can see the building from a million miles away, but figuring out how to navigate the one way streets to make it to the entrance is a pain. They advertise a free on-site parking, but what they fail to be say is there are approximately 50 spots for a 20+ floor hotel. So, everyone else not lucky/early enough to get those spots gets to park in the public lot connected to the hotel via a skybridge. Then after checking in, we got to our room only to discover that we didn't have a refrigerator, as advertised in the listing. I called the front desk and, after blaming the issue on the third party I booked through, they did agree to move me into one of the "deluxe" rooms. (I've been using that third party to book hotels for 20+ years and I've never encountered this problem.) I exchanged keys only to discover that the "deluxe" room is literally identical to the regular room, just with a $75 dorm fridge sitting on the floor between the TV cabinet and the desk. The rooms are dated and dark. The shower/toilet area is microscopic and the sink area is open to the entire room, which makes for a weird layout. The worst part was when I checked out the next morning. I decided to put my luggage on a cart and use the skybridge to load my car, because getting out of the public lot and making it to the front of the hotel was going to be a pain. So I pulled my vehicle to a loading area just outside the door to the skybridge in the parking garage, and proceeded to load. An employee of the hotel comes driving up in her white Chevy Tahoe and asks me to close my driver's side door, because it is blocking her reserved spot. I close the door immediately and apologize. I continue to load, which should have been obvious because I had every other door open including the hatch. The employee then makes some witchy comment about how she's surprised I didn't get towed. I look at her like she's nuts, because again, I'm obviously loading, and explain I was simply parked here to load. She made some passive aggressive remark and went on her way. Maybe she saw my Maryland plates and just decided to make an assumption. But in big East coast cities we have a thing called "minding your own business." It works beautifully for us. Perhaps people in Billings, Montana need to give it a try.
