Built by a George Washington, The Cherry Tree Inn is more like your Home away from Home than the monotypic corporate properties that are in the marketplace. We are in the medical corridor in Billings and just 5 blocks North of downtown which offers numerous eateries and a number of award winning micro-breweries. We treat our patrons more like family than customers.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a joke for a motel! The pictures of the rooms are not even close to what they actually are!! The cleaning staff need a lot of lessons on cleaning, like dust the pictures above the beds, I could have written my name in the dust !! The door to the shower and stool sounded like a pig with its tail caught in a door !! The outlets are so old nothing will make contact!! Walking into the building, you have to inhale deeply, so you don’t choke on the cigarette smoke !! Never again!!

When I made my reservation to stay at the Cherry Tree Inn, I mistakenly thought that it was the place I had stayed before when we needed to be close to the Billings Clinic hospital. I was wrong & I will never again book a hotel without reading the reviews first. On the positive side - the hotel was right across the street from the admitting area of the hospital. But the place that I have moved to is only a block away and Kitty-corner to the hospital so it’s not the only option if you need to be next to the clinic. That's it for anything good about the place. I had come to Billings with a good friend who needed to have some tests at the clinic across the street. She was in very poor health and quite fragile. I wanted her to be in a clean, healthy environment so she could rest before her procedure the next day. First, to get into the hotel you have to walk through a cloud of cigarette smoke and a ton of butts on the ground to get to the door. Even though they say that they don't allow smoking inside, the place reeks of cigarettes. There are several people that seem to hang out and smoke just outside the front door - defiantly an unsavory bunch. Many of the pictures that are shown on this site are not of the Chery Tree Inn - at least not that I saw. I had understood from the pictures that the room would have a small fridge and microwave that are pretty much standard now. Not so. When I asked to upgrade to a room that did have them, we were given their "best room" (one of two). Yes, it did have a kitchenette, but it was awful. There were no dish towels or paper towels anywhere - I had to get a bath towel to clean the counters before I would set anything on them. There were no bowls to heat the soup we brought with us. There was no sponge to wash the dishes or counters. I called the front desk to ask if I could pick up any of these supplies from the office, he said that they were usually in the rooms, but had probably been stolen (a dish sponge?). He didn’t have any in housekeeping to give me. I couldn't get the internet to work so I called the front desk again. He told me that it had been broken but was now supposed to be fixed. Then he said that quite often the rooms at the end of the hotel don't get the internet and that I should go out into the hallway and connect to it, then take my laptop back into my room & then it might work. After many tries using the two different network settings he told me to use, it never did connect. I am writing this from the hotel I came to when I left there & was able to connect with no problem, so it is not me or my computer that doesn’t work right. It was cold in the room so after several tries I went to the to the front desk to have him explain to me how their system works - I couldn't get the heat on. I did exactly what he said and two hours later my friend is still shivering under the covers and I am freezing so I went down again and asked for a space heater, which he gave me. He also gave me a blanket, which was nice of him, but it was so dirty neither of us would use it. He said he didn’t understand why the heat didn’t work. (Check other reviews, it is mentioned there and is another ongoing problem that they don’t fix and lie and make excuses for). By 11:00 I was so disgusted that I went to the two other hotels nearby to see if they had any vacancies for the next night. I wanted to get inside them and see if I could take a deep breath without gagging. Both were quite nice & I didn't have to pay extra to have the fridge and microwave. Their staff was kind and wholesome and didn't act like I had interrupted some drug deal when I asked them questions. After I got my friend in for her procedure this morning, I went back to the hotel to check out. At the entrance to that end of the hotel it was the housekeeping staff who surrounded the door smoking. (gag) When I was gathering our things one of them came to the door to see if I needed my room serviced and I told her that I was checking out and moving to another hotel. I told her why and another woman heard the conversation and came back to me and said that she was with the hotel and asked me to tell her about my experience with it. When I finished, she said that she would pass it on and that I should ask for an adjustment on my rate as I checked out. When I checked out the woman at the front desk was simply horrible in every way. She looked totally strung out and was rude and abrasive. She refused any price adjustment and basically called me a liar when I told her that the internet wouldn’t connect. She needs to get her story straight with the night time person who told me that "it usually works, but that it won't at that end of the hotel". She had no response to the fact that they are renting rooms to people who are there because they need to be near the hospital, but that at least some of the rooms don't even have heat. It's December in Montana! To recap - every horrible thing that is written in the other reviews is true. They already know that the internet doesn't work and that some of the rooms don't have heat. Other reviews have made it clear. They don't care and make excuses, tell lies and call the patron who complains about it a liar. There is no reason that anyone should stay there, especially if they are in poor health and are in need of medical services at the clinic. There are other places right next to the clinic that are very nice and no more money (actually less than our “upgraded” room). This place ought to be closed down.

I woke up in the middle of the night due to getting bit by bed bugs. I called and asked if I can switch rooms. The night manager said “we didn’t have that problem in that room.” I asked to switch rooms he said, we can’t because you will contaminate other rooms. I wouldn't stay there again.

Charged for non authorized nights. Cherry Tree kept card on file and used for non authorized person. Refuse to refund money even though it was their error. Pretty much stole money. Sad that they do not fix what they took.

Room was nice and clean. The staff are friendly and courteous. Older motel, but well kept. Very accommodating. We had no idea how long we would be at the hospital, it was no problem to play it day to day. We even checked out, then found out late in the day we weren't going home. One call and we got our same room again. Thank you

If I could give this establishment less than a 1, I would. The room was dingy, the smell of air freshener was very strong. They advertise free wi-fi, the room we were in never did have wi-fi available. The breakfast which started at 6 a.m. was gone. The grounds were dirty with cigarette butts all over the place. The only thing this motel has going for it is the close proximity to the Billings Clinic.

When we were walking to our room from Jake's we noticed Pearl, the front desk attendant, was selling drugs. She was working the midnight shift, so we decided to check on her. She was nodding out and acted Luke she was using herion. Other than that, the place was clean and affordable.

Stay here whenever I am in Billings. Basic clean rooms. Breakfast. Fresh popcorn and coffee all evening. Great, helpful people work here. Informal. If you are in Billings because someone is in or is having tests/procedures at hospital or clinic, they are totally supportive of patients' and their family members. Also of situations where situations and length of stay change
