Conveniently located in the heart of Big Sky's Mountain Village, this three-story hotel was part of the late NBC News broadcaster Chet Huntley's original vision for Big Sky Resort. It is as tasteful as it is convenient: the Explorer Lift is just out the back door. Under the same roof are concierge, dining, shopping, ski storage, meeting rooms, and spa. The Huntley Lodge features Boyne Beds and flat panel televisions.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great service especially at the Shoshone pool by Chad, Carson, Brenden. They were so helpful and made our stay even better. They opened doors, took our pizza boxes to the trash and even when we forgot a whole pizza in one they brought it back.

The staff at the Huntley Lodge are cheerful and helpful. In particular Erik at the front desk made sure we had a quiet room and Stevie took our bags directly to our room without asking. We will add more details about our stay as it unfold s.

I'm not sure what this floor is made of - maybe cheap plywood covered in bubble wrap? It makes a bizarre noise every step you take, whether in the hallway or in the room. So you hear your upstairs neighbor a lot more than you really want to hear - like every step they take?!

The decor is terribly out of date and the place is beat up from many years of use.

BUT....you are RIGHT ON THE SLOPES. The convenience definitely outweighs the other issues. We could ski in and take a break in our room or get a snack and then hop right back out on the Explorer lift to get up the mountain. And we came to ski, afterall!

The staff was awesome. These are $75-100/night rooms and that’s due to location otherwise they are $39/night rooms. FYI.... you can hear everything from the room above you and when you go in the bathroom the vents are interconnected with the room next to you and it’s just like having a radio with good reception listening to EVERYTHING in the bathroom next to you. I MEAN EVERYTHING. The breakfast in the morning is very good with a unique setting looking up to Lone Peak. Again the staff is very good but the computer software they are equipped with is antiquated as when you use your Boyne rewards card you have to now fax your receipts to another state to get your rewards and they really struggled to get our lift tickets right at concierge. She did the best she could do with a computer system that was clearly broke

We just returned from an overnight visit and stay at the Huntley Lodge. I was told they would try to accommodate an early check in and would call me as soon as it was ready. I showed up at the front desk at 5pm and mentioned that I hadn’t received a call or text letting me know if my room was ready. I actually received the phone call letting me know my room was ready while I was at the front desk asking the staff about my room.
After we finally were able to get checked in, a dog across the hall from our room barked for about two hours until it’s owners returned to their room. It stopped barking by the time we went to bed, thank goodness, but started barking again first thing in the morning. They provide you with ear plugs in the rooms that haven’t been renovated I would assume because the walls are thin and you can hear most of what happens in rooms around you and above you. (The lodge is pretty old, so some of this is understandable.) The beds were extremely uncomfortable and I got little sleep. I was pretty bummed when we left in the morning because I was hoping for a better experience, especially in light of the price you pay.
The very last straw for me was as I was trying to navigate out the front doors with a large, packed luggage cart. The Bellman by the front doors looked at me and walked away. He didn’t ask if I needed help and didn’t even offer to open the door. I had to wait until a hotel guest graciously held the door open for me.
Our family has purchased season passes to ski at Big Sky for years and the service is usually fantastic, so our Lodge experience was unexpected and disappointing. We will continue to ski at Big Sky because the skiing, the mountains, the views, and the location are absolutely amazing! We won’t however, be staying at the Huntley Lodge again.

Had a great time, the staff was very friendly. Morgan and Indigo at the front desk always said "Hi" and were quick to scratch me behind my ears. I am a dog. Sam was also very attentive, taking a break from whatever he was cleaning to greet me and give me some attention. The room was nice, the beds looked cozy, but the floor is also comfortable. My people enjoyed the stay, everyone was accommodating and attentive to their needs. Can't wait to visit in the winter, which is more my season. I hope "pet friendly" rooms are still available after the renovations in the Lodge.

Our visit was not great from the start since we had reserved and paid for a Mountain View room and got a view of the building next door. Room was extremely dated and furniture in bad shape (although I know they are renovating). We were on the first floor, which means we heard every step of our upstairs neighbors - sounded like we were in a wooden box. After three attempts, they at least credited us the price difference between what we reserved and what we got.
Next - room cleaning. Huntley Lodge, like so many other hotels, is pulling the same “for your safety, we aren’t cleaning rooms these days” thing because, you know, COVID and everything. I thought “for our safety”, cleanliness was a good thing, right? Maybe a different discussion... Anyway, they said they would clean your room upon request. Well, we requested twice and they never managed to actually clean our room.

Breakfast, however (included in the room rate) was one of the best hotel breakfasts we have had with different dishes prepared each day! Be sure to make reservations for breakfast if you want to be seated.

Positives: The rooms were thoughtfully remodeled. The towels are soft, and the toiletrees have a wonderful citrus aroma, even if the print on the bottles is a very light color that I could barely read. The buffet was fabulous, and should please everyone. The location was convenient to the chairlift. Staff was attentive to needs when brought to their attention.
Negatives: The noise from the hot-tub and pool area made sleep impossible until the area closed late at night. This was especially challenging for travelers from the East Coast, as I missed a few hours of sleep every night. Members of my group that were on the non-pool side of the hotel were awoken by the beeping of snowplows and snowcats in the parking lot, etc. at 4AM.
Though staff was responsive, it is reasonable to expect that the carpet would be vacuumed, used mugs would be replaced, and empty toiletrees and beverages would be restocked as a matter of course, without needing a request.
It would be nice if there was a sign we could put out to opt out of daily towel replacement.
The bed seemed much smaller than the queen bed I have at home. I suspect it is not actually a queen bed.
Though the noise was intolerable, the other minor inconveniences were offset by the exceptional buffet breakfast.
Nancy, our breakfast server, stood out, as did Zeeka.

Staying at the Lodge makes the most sense particularly for first time visitors to the mountain. The support service is excellent. Cowboy doormen are exceptionally friendly and helpful, shout out to Jake B. and Tim. There are good restaurant options at base camp. Rooms are small but clean and well appointed. Access to the lifts is about as good as it gets.

Gaige & Santiago were extremely helpful & courteous in the Fitness Center! Santiago helped my husband and I a few days ago and Gaige helped me today. Both were equally pleasant and helpful. I appreciated their excellent customer service skills and friendly greetings. Towel service, extra face masks, hand sanitizer and sanitizing spray for the equipment were readily available in the workout center..

There isn't a specific dog park, but there are areas by the tennis courts where you can take your dog to potty. There are even little trash bags for their excrement. The official rule is to keep your dog on a leash at all times, outside of your hotel room. Hope that helps!
