Some things have gone downhill since the last time we stayed there. The front desk staff is not as friendly or helpful as they used to be, and housekeeping missed re-supplying some items in our room and we had to go get them - there was no offer for them to be delivered. This happened on a busy Saturday night.

There are no elevators in any of the buildings but at least one building has a ramp to the first floor. When you have ski clothing and boots, you have a big load to haul up or down stairs.

Our room was nice and large, and this visit we were in a different building so there weren’t as many stairs to negotiate. There were plenty of hangars for clothing and sufficient electric and charging outlets, although it would have been helpful to have a few more that were close to both sides of both beds.

Breakfast was still excellent with fresh fruit, bacon, eggs, sausage, a waffle maker, potatoes, oatmeal and bread items. Every morning they have a least one specialty item for the day.

Overall Buck's is still better than average in value, especially considering the prices that are charged around the Big Sky area.

Perfect Montana getaway. Easy access to all things Big Sky with several outfitters and great additional dining (Corral Bar, RiverHouse) right down the road. New village area is just a couple miles away. Ski area is a few more but easily driven or hop on free shuttle. Everyone we met at the hotel was warm and welcoming, including to our two dogs. Warm atmosphere with cozy fire and folks hanging out in lodge area and hot tub recounting the days activities... the way skiing used to be, but is so rare now. Daily breakfast (included) was over the top and you definitely have to do at least one dinner at the Lodge - best meal I've had in years.

Will definitely recommend to friends and family and hope to be back soon.

Never disappointed when I stay at Buck’s T4. I have been travel to the Big Sky area for the last 20-25 years to ski and fly fish and my first contact for lodging accommodations is Buck’s T4. When you can get accommodations at Buck’s it’s one less thing to worry about while you are traveling.

Let's state the obvious...for the area, this is likely one of the cheaper places you'll find. However, for the price, I would expect a much nicer experience. We stayed here several years ago and it was just average. Since then, it appears as though nothing has been changed or updated. It feels old. Our room stunk like leftover fried fish and there was a VERY strong smell of marijuana on our upper floor. Seems like lots of traveling workers stay here, so lots of trucks and music and loud noises. There is a smoking area, or at least a place for cigarette butts, right at the bottom of the stairs. So, for us non-smokers, we get to enjoy the smell of cigarette smoke and stale smoke every time we enter or leave our room. The room itself is just old school...no room at all on the countertop (which sits just outside the bathroom). Bathroom itself is small and dated. I would expect this from a VERY budget motel, but I guess they can charge what they want at this location. I would NOT stay here again but would rather spend money for a better experience elsewhere. Also, this was one of FEW hotels on our trip that did not have their full breakfast display out. Instead, you got a packaged meal based on your preferences, which was fine, but the breakfast was actually one of the few positive notes from our last stay. Disappointed that they didn't offer more for breakfast. Sad to say that this place is in desperate need of help. It's such a beautiful location, it's a shame that this place is falling behind. Spend your money elsewhere if possible.

Terrible experience overall. Reasons:
1. Stayed there this year for skiing at BigSky. Checked in, hauling all the heavy ski equipment. The front desk person told us specifically that our room was in another building outside, top floor. We hauled the heavy ski gear (including kids') in 3-4 feet fresh snow, up the stairs (no elevator) only to find that the room was not in that building but right there next to the front desk. The person deliberately made us haul everything to the wrong building in heavy snow. Still not sure why he did that... may be since were not local and asian?
2. Room was extremely dry to the point where we had to crack open the window in the dead winter.
3. Frontdesk person (again) gave us wrong information that the restaurant right next door is closed and we need to go to the town to have dinner. We casually checked the restaurant while heading out to town and found that they were indeed open and waiting for guests. Can't put my finger exactly, but the attitude of the front desk person was to give us as much trouble as possible.
4. They told me that I have only 3 nights booking even though my reservation was for 4 nights (per expedia confirmation). Took some time to get this sorted out by expedia with them.
5. DO NOT RELY on the shuttle service. They don't come on time, they don't take you back to the hotel per the posted schedule (dropped us off somewhere completely different and we had to take another bus to get back to the hotel), they took off while a few folks were still unloading, potentially putting them as well as other people in harm's way (the hatch was open when they took off, skis dangling out)
Overall - if you want a stress free ski vacation, don't go here.

very disappointing with our stay at BuckT 4 lodge,. the resort maybe use to be a classy place, but dent in wall ,chipped paint, rusting showers closure, very thin towel( a lot washes i guess). our bedroom door lock was broken, and door was difficult to close, clumsy soap dispenser not even filled with proper amount of products make it a vestige of a glorious past. For $256 per night including taxes, you should at least offer a good size tv and Netflix, front desk staffing was welcoming , only positive stay in this USE TO BE LODGE

The service at this hotel was mediocre at best. The desk when we were checking out kept us waiting without acknowledgement behind another couple for 15 minutes. The shuttle service provided to Big Sky mountain gets incredibly crowded and is quite uncomfortable. On the way back, it took us 2 hours and 15 minutes in total because the shuttle never came, so we had to take another shuttle, then wait 30 minutes to transfer for another shuttle that took over an hour to get from Town Center to Bucks T4. Lastly, the noise really carries in the hotel. A dog was barking next door at night, and in the morning, it sounded like there was a stamped as people started to head to breakfast at 6am. We stayed here hoping for convenience, but in the end it was anything but that.

Our room was in a separate building and up a flight of stairs. It was quiet and tastefully decorated but needed up dating. The bathroom had no shelves or drawers to store toiletries and there were not enough drawers in the unit for storing ski clothes for a couple staying 4 days. The breakfast was meat focused and there were few other options. The lobby was very nice but since we were not in the main building we really never spent time there.

Came for skiing. This is a great place to stay for those not wanting to stay on the mountain. Easy 20 min drive to the mountain. I found the beds and pillows to be particularly comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, but a bit dated. The large hot tubs were a wonderful way to soothe your muscles after a day's skiing The restaurant was top class. The breakfasts offered a good choice - the only criticism here would be that the scrambled egg on some mornings had been out too long and was rather dry

Unpleasant experience! Despite having a reservation, we were seated in back, deserted dining-room by ourselves near the bathrooms. After waiting 35 minutes for a server to offer us even water, we felt frustrated and ignored. Our request to move a much nicer dining-room was ignored; apparently walk-ins were seated and reservations not honored. A disappointment; mediocre and poor customer service. We left.

I don't know if they have a shuttle for bucks itself - but there are shuttle services that run from the Bozeman are to big sky. I would think one of those could get you to Bucks

Greetings, Are there any rooms that are allergic to dogs human friendly? Thank you!
Answer from HollyHansen
Midway, Utah43 contributions16 helpful votes
I'd recommend calling and asking the front desk because we do have 2 dogs, who travel there often with us! We always are put in certain rooms... I think? That makes me think they simply do not put animals in certain rooms/floors/buildings? It can't hurt to ask, plus you'd be helping all the other people who may have allergies or sensitivity to pets/dander! #YayYou! Good luck & thanks! Holly

Thanks for your inquiry. Alas, what you seek is not to be found here at Buck's T-4, though you can find it fairly close by. We offer standard hotel rooms and a great dinner, but no cabins. I would recommend either the 320 Ranch or the Lone Mountain Ranch, both located here in Big Sky.
