Hotel's Favourite
I stayed for 5 Nights. When I arrived, the hotel staff were incredibly accommodating to our needs. There is currently construction right next door, but the hotel staff made it easy for us to check in and check out.
There also was a large group at the hotel for a band competition at the convention center. I mention this because I didn't have to wait for anything...check in, breakfast, drinks at the bar, or just to ask for help.
Specifically, I want to complement the manager, Mr. Bruno, the Asst. manager, Marcus, and two of the Front Desk staff, Amber and Jackie. All of them were incredibly helpful to me during my business trip, and went above and beyond my expectations.
My room was spacious and clean, and the pillows were great! (I'm a stickler about pillows) The room was on the 5th floor and was quiet despite the large hotel being full of High-School aged people during our trip.
I'm completely satisfied, and I enjoyed being in a full-service hotel for a change!

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn behind the convention center in St. Louis. It's not my normal location to stay in the city but I read it was recently reviewed so I figured it couldn't be too bad. The lobby is fresh and the desk staff is wonderful and pleasant. My room was clean and overlooked the center of the hotel where the pool is. The only problem I had was with the door lock which was not working right. It was fixed my last night of stay after I happened to catch a maintenance guy walking past my room as I tried to figure out why it was having issues (scanned well but the lock wouldn't open fully) which was the day after I alerted the cleaning crew to the problem. Speaking of the cleaning crew . . . they arrived after 4pm the 1st full day which to me is too late in the day. My expectation is that cleaning is done for the hotel before check-in time (3pm). I waived cleaning that day because I didn't want to deal with them in the room as I had just finished a 10 hour work day. Overall however, I was pleased to see quiet hours posted at the hotel (10pm-7am) and they do have a decent gym. Parking was secure as well. I don't want this to sound like doom and gloom. The hotel comped my parking fees because of the inconvenience of the door. Overall well done during my trip. Does it meet my normal hotels? "Eh" . . . but the people make up for the few shortfalls I saw this trip.

We stayed at this hotel due to an event being held at the convention center. Overall the hotel was in good shape and did work for our 3 night stay. We went in knowing that changes were in place due to Covid and did try our best to be understanding.
One thing that bothered me was lack of housekeeping services. I didn't expect it every day, but at least once during our stay would have been nice. We ran out of towels and had to order some daily. No one ever took the dirty ones so they just piled up in the bathroom along with our trash bins. One night of our stay the toilet became clogged and overflowed. I called the front desk and someone did come by about 30 minutes later to fix it. However, he didn't take the dirty towels around the toilet or ask if someone needed to come up to clean it up. These towels were added to the pile in our room and I ordered more from the front desk.
Another issue we had was the temperature in the room. No matter what we had the thermostat on, the heat continued to come on constantly. I called the front desk on the first night to ask how to fix it. She suggested I turn it to fan so it would pull in the cool air from outside. This did work to cool the room down, but as soon as I turned it off from fan, the room instantly heated up again. We both slept in shorts and not even a sheet to cover up due to the temp. My guess it was close to 80 in the room. I did ask for someone to check it out the next morning and am not sure if this happened or not. The off button on the unit didn't work so you had to have it on either fan, heat, or cool.
One last thing, our bathroom had some minor wear and tear. The tub stopper was broke and just left laying in the tub. The door hanger was missing and someone had put some tasteless white tape over it in effort to hide it. It was tacky and looked like a child had tried to cover up a mistake.
Overall, I was disappointed in this hotel to a degree, but was thankful for the proximity of it to our event. Hopefully the conditions will improve after the Covid chaos has calmed down.

Hello Tina J, We value our guests like you. You are what makes us strive hard to make our hotels the best we can be. Thank you for staying at our Holiday Inn St. Louis - Downtown Convention Center and taking the time to leave us feedback. We are all about giving exceptional service to our guests and are committed to comfort in every way. I'm sorry there were a couple of issues you encountered that spoiled your stay. I know how letdown you must have felt towards the toilet condition, the towels not replenished daily, and limited housekeeping services. I have also noted down your feedback about the room temperature with the AC not working properly. I have conveyed your comments to the Hotel Management to work with the proper departments and the necessary improvements needed on our end. We hope you will join us again in the future and impart a better stay. Safe travels, Deborah R. Case Manager IHGService

The hotel itself was okay but the AC was loud and the toilet ran periodically. My complaint was with the Sports Bar and Grill located in the hotel. They did not anticipate an influx of patrons because of the Hot Rod Power Tour even though we were booked for over a month. Our server was flustered and obviously overworked. We waited over an hour for a small pizza and a salad. Our friends had a question about their bill and the bar manager was extremely rude. The server said “that’s what they told me to charge“ Apparently they charge extra if you have a drink on the rocks. The bar manager said “I would’ve charged you more“. So they obviously just make up the charge as they go along. Service is everything for us. Rudeness is unacceptable.

I'm sorry for your experience. As you read this I am aware your still in house, look me up and happy to discuss. The truth is that we currently do not have any evening servers, only two bartenders due to COVID and at the request of the organizer for your event we opened the bar early and brought in two employees from other departments to help. Maybe not the best plan after hearing of your experience. Bar has not seen a crowd this large since before COVID. We do the best we can with such a limited staff, again sorry.

The check in time was 3 pm. The hotel was convenient to an event we were attending but upon arrival at 3 pm and after we had checked in online 24 hours prior as instructed, noting we would arrive at 3 pm, we were told our room had not been cleaned. We asked the front desk person how long it would take and the response was “I don’t know”. Others were also waiting in the lobby for their rooms to be cleaned. After 45 minutes went by, we went back to the front desk and asked to speak with the manager and the front desk person said he was the manager. We got a story about their labor issues trying to keep cleaning staff onboard and that it was “out of his control”. We needed to change, shower and attend an event and so finally the manager called someone and a room was ready. We had to check out by 11 am the next day as usual, and the manager never offered to do anything to make us feel better about the inconvenience such as an extra hour in the room the next day or a voucher for breakfast. He was frazzled and really didn’t want to be bothered with maintaining good customer relations. The rest of the stay and the room was just average. Breakfast foods were mostly over cooked and hard to chew (French toast, potatoes). Breakfast bar was $12.00 each. The outside patio area at street level was dirty and not a place you wanted to hang out. The pool area indoors was nice and had great cabanas. The bed was comfortable.

When we arrived to check-in at 3(the earliest time allowed ), we waited in line with at least 40 other people only to be told 30 minutes later that there were no clean rooms available. Our event started in less than two hours so myself along with tons of other people were left with no choice but to do hair, makeup, and get ready in the packed bathrooms and lobby. We left and I called the hotel from our car to see if they had an estimated time that rooms would be available. The first time, a woman hung up on me. The second time, a man told me approximately 30 minutes, but I never got the e-mail stating our room was ready. After our event, we made it back to the hotel at midnight and waited in line with other angry guests that were unable to check in earlier. It was finally our turn and the front desk employee literally walked away from us and said someone else would have to help us. They finally assigned us a room and when we got up there, there were 3 girls sitting in front of our door who had also been assigned our room. Awful experience, we were late to our event we drove 5 hours for and had no access to the room we paid for.

We were in town for a Presidents Day volleyball tournament. The hotel was full of teenagers but quiet. Service was good and rooms and common areas were clean. It's right next door to the Convention Center so we could walk over in a couple minutes, and parking was easy. My only complaint was that the restaurant wasn't open for lunch and on Sunday night, even with a hotel full of volleyball players coming off the court at all hours, they were understaffed in the restaurant. They essentially closed an hour early and quit taking orders because they were overrun. I'm sure this Sunday night rush happens every year during this weekend so I would have hoped they'd be better prepared. But again, everyone was kind and did what they could. Would go again!

Fast check in by the front desk staff, Matthew. The valet parking staff, Clayton, was also professional upon arrival. Fast WiFi, easy sign-in.
At check out when picking up the car, the valet parking staff opened the car trunk saying it's their policy aiming to make luggage loading easier for the customers. I felt uncomfortable, felt our privacy was invaded. Would be great to ask for to see if this step is needed.
Room cleanliness is unsatisfactory: unremovable fruit/cocktail stains found along the bathtub, hairs found near the corner of the bathroom door, and attached to a "clean" towel in the rack upon arrival.
Room phone did not work either.
Service was 4 out of 5.
Room Cleanliness was 1 out of 5.

This hotel is conveniently located downtown and within in walking distance of the convention center and plenty of restaurants. My room was clean and comfortable, and I was very impressed with the breakfast and hotel bar. The service at the front desk varied depending on who was on duty. (Some members of the staff were more friendly and helpful than others.) Parking was close and plentiful, and overall I really enjoyed my visit. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is broken in more ways than it works. Our door wouldn’t close appropriately in a way that is probably a fire hazard. Our key card stopped working twice. The shower didn’t go above 70 degrees and water pressure was less than the sinks. The shower dripped all night and there was clear water damage from the dripping visible in the tub, loud enough to keep us awake. The front door to enter was broken as well. Our friends had checkin delayed by 2 hours after confirming early checkin and then was double charged for a downgrade room when the reserved room wasn’t available. It was just a complete mess start to finish.
