Booked a one night stay-cation middle of the week. Andrew gave us an early check in (regular check in time is 3 PM, we were allowed to check in at 11:10 AM). Be sure if you book online through their website you ask for early check in in the comments section. We booked connecting rooms but only one was ready when we arrived so Andrew fixed us up on an upper floor facing the Arch! Room was clean, pool was clean, plenty of towels (4 out of six of us have long hair - you long hairs know what I'm getting at 😉), arcade, and well within walking distance of the Arch and St Louis Cruise tours. We just can't compliment this location AND Andrew enough!!! Hands down the BEST Hampton Inn we've stayed at! Again, can't thank Andrew enough for his friendliness, helpfulness, and hospitality!!

Best Ever: this by far is one of our favorite St Louis hotels. The staff always go above and beyond to make you feel at home. Our grandchildren especially love the pool and game room. The staff made them feel extra special after they missed breakfast (because of sleeping in ) by giving them breakfast bags. The location is convenient to so may great attractions and restaurants. Parking is onsite for a reasonable fee which gives a sesnse of security. We give this 5 stars always

Short distance from St. Louis train station which was convenient as we'd travelled down from Chicago on the Amtrak.
Upon checking in we were greeted by John at reception who I can not say enough good things about. Even though I had just been on a 5 hour train ride and wanted to simply freshen up and get some rest, it was an absolute pleasure talking to him as he was sorting out our keys for our room, it was also nice to find out that he was originally from somewhere in Ireland that wasn't too far from my own family.
He was able to suggest some great places to eat and drink and also told us about the view from the top of the arch that I wasn't aware about at all. John was full of information about the area and this definitely helped whilst staying in St. Louis. Since he was the first person we experienced in terms of staff at the hotel, he definitely set the bar high for the standards of professionalism and customer service. One evening we also spoke to another member of the reception staff, I didn't catch his name but he had a glorious beard (you can't miss it) and he was also happy to chat away and point out any places in town that were worth seeing.
Room was perfect, clean, great view of the arch and comfortable beds. No noise could be heard from the corridors which is something I always appreciate and the gym on the 5th floor was basic, but enough to satisfy our travelling needs for a quick work out. Will definitely be coming back to Hampton Inn when I next visit St. Louis

+1
View of the arch from our room was great. Hotel staff were professional and accommodating...it was pouring when we arrived so they lended us a large umbrella without having to ask. Parking garage is 6’ but there is an area for larger vehicles to park. Hotel lobby was nice, breakfast was to-go. Elevators were a bit confusing, as they don’t all go to the same floors.
I’d like to say that our room was impeccable but it wasn’t. Next to the “we’re so clean” sign was a glob of gunk. Other than that glob, we wiped everything down to sanitize. So, the remote, phone, door handles & all surfaces really were sanitized when we left. We had a problem with the broken toilet handle which made it hard to flush. Others, the beds were comfortable and we had a good night’s sleep. We felt safe.
The menus the front desk has for food options are outdated, as the prices for what we ordered were about 30% more than the prices listed on the menus.

Briana and Linda at the front desk are awesome. They greet you with big smiles and are genuinely accommodating, making you feel truly welcomed.
PROS:
1. Location: the arch was a short walk, as well as the Federal Reserve and several downtown restaurants
2. Parking garage: located below the rooms, making it easy to park and take the elevator straight to the room
3. Staff: the front desk staff (as mentioned above) do a great job with a not-so-great facility
CONS:
1. Small rooms (room 514). Although it does provide a free view of a small section of the arch, this room felt cramped. Maybe this was because it’s located at the end of the hall next to an equipment room. With 1/2 of the room having a lower ceiling (along with the view of the “terrace” (roof) below, this made the room feel almost claustrophobic in spite of the large window)
2. Tired carpeting/poor drywall job (a large patch of drywall next to the mirror in room 514 was wrinkled and unsightly)
3. Quirky thermostat. The room did not consistently remain cool. (At one point the thermostat had switched itself to heat!) It then seemed it would switch between being very cold to very warm.
4. Bathroom sink drained very slowly.
5. Lack of hot breakfast. We stayed at a new Best Western in Colorado Springs in Aug 2020, and the full range of hot breakfast was available, being served by 2 gloved staff members. Hotel hot breakfasts have been a favorite of our kids, as they love getting hot waffles and trying cereals we normally don’t buy. Had we not witnessed how hot breakfast can continue to be served in the middle of Covid, Hampton Inns would have left us assuming it was impossible.
6. Cramped parking lot. This lot needs an overhaul. Unless you drive a mid-sized sedan, the spaces are tight and pillars are in awkward locations. Also, the tight stairwells seem neglected and simply need a fresh coat of paint, making the whole setup feel a bit creepy. The fact that the garage door quickly shuts tight once your car passes is the only solace.
7. Only 2 of 3 elevators were operational. Fortunately we parked our car on level 4, negating the need for it. However had we stayed on a higher level, we would have been frustrated.
Overall, our stay was good, but was pricey with so many newer hotel options.

When we got to our room we opened the closet and it was filled with dirty linen, dirty towels, socks, and gloves. Very disgusting. We called down to get a new room and they didn't have anything else so they sent someone up remove the dirty linens. We found a used tissue under the sink. Next to the bed there are pull out trays and on my wife's tray was a toenail! She didn't tell me about that until we were about to leave because I would have lost it at that point. When we arrived , the door had a sticker connecting the door to the frame showing that it had not been opened since it was cleaned. What are they actually cleaning? Totally disgusting room. I will say that when we checked out and told the manager about all of this, she was very apologetic and gave us a voucher to use at another Hampton Inn.

A friendly but tired staff and a ho-hum attitude made this very convenient hotel a poorer choice of the many Hilton properties near the arch. With 17 floors and down to one of three elevators running reliably, even the service staff was having difficulties getting to room. The washing machines had broken detergent vending machine and the in house shop was out of supplies. Also our bathroom had a stuffed drain the was reported on the first day of our stay, but never cleared. St Louis was a great town to visit and we will stay a a different place on our next visit. This could be a gem because of it’s location, but we think it must be the train facility fo Hilton better properties in town

Went for a short, extended weekend trip with my husband and our two children. This hotel had just what we needed - it was convenient and clean. The breakfast was a perfect way to start our day and both our kids were able to find things they wanted to eat each morning. When the second day of our trip got rained out (literally, from morning until night) we were thankful we had a comfortable hotel room and a great pool to keep the kids entertained. The only downside were some extremely loud guests who had rooms near ours and were constantly shouting in the hallway and being generally obnoxious until after 1am the first night we were there. Luckily they checked out the next day. You do have to pay for parking, which is kind of expensive, in my opinion, but not a deal breaker for us. We would consider staying here again for a future trip.

We stayed as a couple for one night the night before last and both felt there were certainly better options once we arrived in town. This is a very old fashioned hotel, there’s no two ways about it. I would imagine it was built some time around the time the Arch was and hasn’t probably seen a great amount of investment since. It’s clean but poorly maintained with little evidence of money being spent in the last decade. The tap in our room was falling off, as were switches in the bedroom area. The overall feel of the room was really lacking. The views of the arch from our room were good but definitely not the best in town. Lifts are ancient and very slow by American standards. Breakfast was good - waffle station in particular - but far far too much single use plastic. What’s going on? It’s 2020. Your hotel looks and operates like it’s in some sort of time warp. Sort it out. For the money paid for our room, this wasn’t good value. Staff were friendly and location is fairly good, but I’d struggle to recommend much else about this crumbling hotel.

We stayed in an room on the 5th floor—the check in process and staff have been flawless. Very nice and offered suggestions as requested. The hotel feels very safe and is clean. However, we can hear everyone who walks by the door and the people in the next room (although that’s most likely the adjoining door’s fault). The air conditioner turns off each day while we are out so the room is hot when we return. The pool is the real disappointment for my 6 and 9 year old kids—the 3 1/2-4 feet deep area is only about 3 feet of the very nice pool. There is a huge 5 feet deep area so it is most appropriate for older children who swim well.
