The Missouri Athletic Club Downtown, is a unique, yet classic fixture of St. Louis' historic Washington Avenue since 1904. Original mahogany wood, rich leather, and lavish hand carved detailing, lay the ambiance of this one of a kind experience. Both the Jack Buck Grill and Sportman's Club, each house their own bar atmosphere, and are known across Missouri as the best in the business for top-notch American cuisine from Chef Barton Phillips. One of the sole remaining establishments in St. Louis where cigars can both be purchased and enjoyed in traditional luxury club atmosphere, the experience is one-of-a-kind, the Art Gallery on the Lobby level is breathtaking, and the facilities are extensive to say the least. Best of all, you don't have to be a member to stay overnight in one of our 74 guest rooms and suites, and take advantage of our prime downtown location! Within walking distance to Busch Stadium, the Edward Jones Dome, St. Louis Gateway Arch, and the banks of the Mississippi River, and easily accessible to several major highways and St. Louis' own Metro Link commuter system.

Detailed Reviews
Arrived at around 2pm to be told the room wasn't available until 4pm. Personally this is far too late for a check in. We had driven down from Chicago and needed to get into the room to change and shower for dinner before catching a cardinals game at 6pm and we had to rearrange some of our plans because of this. The location is fantastic, it's a very short walk to the arch and busch stadium. This and the nice lobby is probably the only good parts of the hotel. Parking isn't included its $18 a day, considering the room itself is on the higher end this is greatly disappointing. The room was very small, no fridge, tiny bathroom which the plug to the sink didn't work. Also no breakfast included and there's a dress code in the lobby which considering it's an ''athletic club'' is a bit ironic. Overall pretty poor experience, check in time is enough for me to not return let alone the poor room. Location only thing keeping it from a 2 star review.

Stayed 1nt in a queen room #1001 on 10th floor with a coffee maker, individual controlled air con & also a ceiling fan in Aug & was very cool to sleep. Bathroom had a shower/tub combo with sliding doors. On the same floor is a pool table room & a reading room with tons of books, recliners, a piano & sheet music! On the 8th floor with the ice machine, snack vending machine & drink vending machine, there is also a microwave! The rooms don’t have one but you can go here to heat up your leftovers👍
Free shuttle to/from cardinals game; first departure 1 hr before game.
Parking garage is $18 & is in & out. Bring ticket in for reception to validate. & it is Almost attached…just across a one way tiny street from the back entrance..didn’t see an elevator so park on 2nd level if possible(1st floor for “members”)
We walked to & from cardinals game & it was quick, easy & safe. We would stay here again if the price was still much better than the other hotels in the area.
Also: they have a water bottle refilling station in the lobby (sort of hidden across from check in by the coat check room)

Some of the staff at the Missouri Athletic Club made our stay especially pleasant. Karen Evans in housekeeping went above and beyond the call of duty in being hospitable. Also, Don Rushing was very helpful and courteous in the fitness facility. Finally, Mychel Henderson at the front desk went above the call of duty as well with her hospitality.

Very outdated rooms with paint chipping off the walls. Tv wasn't even programmed with channels. I walked past security twice to go to my car.and they were asleep both times. They care more about their member's then their hotel guest. Plus with an extra added charge on everything you buy in the building you would think they could update the rooms! Disappointing!

First I was very impressed with the inside, then got to the room and it was very small and outdated. You can hear everything going on in the room next to you and in the halls, so hard to sleep when you constant are hearing people outside your door. No where to put anything in the bathroom. Food was very good but didn't know if you are not a member they charge you extra for food and drinks. Took the shuttle to the ball game which was nice except the shuttle made several trips to the game but only one back, so had to grab a cab since there was no more room on the bus. Staying there was a lot of extra costs that was unexpected of and they don't tell you that up front.

My family of four chose this hotel for a three-night stay, and we were very happy with it. The location is fantastic – easy walk to anything downtown, and easy on and off of the highways to drive to other parts of the city. Although the room was dated, it was also huge (the deluxe suite) and provided us with two separate sleeping areas.
Our favorite part was the beautiful lobby which had a number of different sitting areas for reading or just relaxing. It felt like an old 1940s movie. The private parking garage was convenient and offered in-out privileges. We also appreciated the free shuttle to and from the Cardinals game.
Our only complaints were the lack of towel racks in the bathroom and the lack of a fridge or microwave, but the positives more than made up for them. We would gladly stay here again if we come back to St. Louis, especially considering the budget price we paid for it.

We arrived early from Chicago and the hotel staff was extremely helpful and stored our bags til our accommodations were ready. They called us to let us know when our accommodations were ready. The hotel is close to everything we wanted to see and close to the metrolink.
I would recommend this hotel and I would stay there again.

Pros: good, convenient location, convenient parking garage, historical building, comfortable beds
Cons: Few modern amenities in the rooms and old (moldy? and paint peeling) bathrooms. BEWARE of the step leading out of the bathroom!!!!! I will assume not every room has this feature. Most likely, space was converted to additional rooms later and they needed to elevate the bathroom to accommodate the plumbing, but I fell coming out of the bathroom, forgetting about the 8 inch step and sprained my foot. Made the rest of the weekend a painful experience. Stupid and dangerous design feature!

The people we interacted with were all lovely, friendly, pleasant. The shuttle to the Enterprise Centre was a bonus. The public spaces on the main floor were delightful. Antiques, sculpture including one by Rodin, artwork and a wonderful ambiance. That unfortunately did not carry over to our room. The room itself was not overly large, but fine. The bed was comfy, furnishings very nice, but. There was no finial on one lamp. There are (understandably), no fridges or microwaves. The light and fan, were a little tricky to operate, but worked. Lots of coffee, which neither of us drink. There was nowhere to put anything in the bathroom / a single glass shelf was all there was. Towels were plentiful and toiletries too, nice toiletries I may add. But. Like an old dowager, which she is, she needs constant maintenance to look good and that seemed to be the issue. Peeling paint, cracked plaster, painted tile in the shower which was peeling, chipped paint on the door frame and door. I was going to give it a 3, but this morning while taking a shower, we discovered that the stopper in the tub wouldn’t stay open and the water would not turn off. Even when we turned off the water, the shower kept running! Bizarre. I wedged the stopper open with a cake of soap, but still ended up with an almost full tub! Outside our window were two giant a/c units so no view and a lot of noise. We felt as if we were being treated as country bumpkins and were given a subpar room, because we didn’t know the difference! We did and do and we’re not particularly impressed.

This place is older but charming. Check in was good and receptionist was warm. Room was tiny but adequate. Bed was comfortable. Arrived for a convention and first time in Missouri.
First I have to say thank you Lois for loan of the umbrellas when It rained. Thank you Ricky and Kaya for the service at the restuarant. Enjoyed the conversation. My only issue with this place was that my room was not cleaned on two occasions. I allowed the first time to pass, but it would seem that I was to endure another non cleaning. I had to call downstairs, twice to have it cleaned. First time was that the hotel was full so she couldnt get to my room. Other time, I think she just inferred it was ok to bypass because she was excused the first time. Either way, I insisted and eventually she did come back to clean the room. Thank you to the tall gentleman, who handed out bottles of cold water in the lobby to my partner and I . Much appreciated.
Overall, not a bad place. Definately would stay there, next time Im in Missouri.

Yes there is a dress code. They require “casual wear” AKA slacks or jeans, collared shirts, sweaters, etc. They don’t allow cut offs, crop tops, or hats; also no athletic gear EXCPET on game days.
Yes. Garage next door, included with your rate.
I believe so, the Cardinals were at home the whole week I was there and they had their own bus running around.
