Detailed Reviews
We had an amazing time staying here. The owner, Donna, is incredible and made us feel right at home. The Inn is in great shape and is beautiful. The room was very private and comfortable with all the amenities we could want. It is walking distance to so many nice restaurants, bars, parks, and the farmer's market. Breakfast was delicious and Donna gave great recommendations on places to go. 10/10 will stay again.

The Inn's location is convenient with historic Main St., Katy Trail and the riverfront just minutes away. Our suite was comfortable, quiet and immaculate. Larry and Chris are friendly and helpful hosts. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and offered an amazing variety including fresh fruit parfaits, blackberry crumb cake, quiche, frittata and potato pancakes. Dining with Larry and Chris along with the other guests was a pleasant start to our day.

I stayed at the Bed and Breakfast while visiting St. Louis for an interview, and I loved it so much that I will return for pleasure. The hosts are gracious and inviting. The back patio is super relaxing and should be enjoyed with a glass of wine or coffee. We walked to Saint Charles for dinner and found the walk easy and safe.
The owners have gone out of their way to provide every possible home amenity. I loved the soap and comfy towels. The breakfast was wonderful and relaxing. The place was incredibly clean and comfortable. I am enchanted enough to plan another quick trip to Saint Charles. I might even buy a bike and take in the Katy Trail. The location is perfect for anyone wishing to escape the world for a few days. It is reasonably priced and worth every penny.

We could not have picked a better B&B!! Bob & Marsha were so welcoming when we arrived. They had lots of suggestions and there was not a question that they could not answer. They are so proud of their community and eager to share all aspects of the community. The home is so beautifully decorated and you feel the comfort of home the minute you walk in. We ate at Llewelyn’s the first night and then a full late lunch on Sunday at Salt & Smoke. We loved both places and were extremely pleased with the service and excellent meals!!
Marsha & Bob made a delicious breakfast Sunday morning and we needed to leave by 7:30 Monday morning so we were passing on breakfast. But Marsha & Bob made sure we had banana bread, fruit and coffee waiting for us before we had to leave. We definitely will be back to stay again. Thank you Bob & Marsha for making my birthday special.

We stayed here one night and we simply loved it. The B&B is cozy, nicely decorated, clean, and we felt very welcomed. The owners were not at home, but the neighbors in charge of the B&B have been just wonderful. We had breakfast together and it was amazing!
We would surely recommend it to anyone wishing to visit lovely St. Charles and the surrounding area.

As I was researching this B&B, I came across a very unfavorable review. In it, the reviewer said that his stay was terrible and that the hosts were snobs. I can only assume that he had fallen into a black hole and experienced a very different Frenchtown Inn in a parallel dimension for nothing could be further from the truth. The hosts, Chris and Larry are wonderful people. From the very first (when Trophywife and I arrived fifteen minutes early for check-in) they were gracious and welcoming. Over the course of the two days we were there, nothing changed. Chris and Larry were both very friendly, easy to talk with and very helpful. They were willing to share recipes (the breakfasts were delicious, especially the French Toast casserole with fruit compote topping) and would share ideas for which restaurants and stores in town might be interesting for their guests. We stayed in the upstairs bedroom and I recommend it highly. Though the bedroom itself has a sloped ceiling, there is also a sitting room off of the bedroom where it was wonderful to relax. The bathroom that went with this bedroom was modern and well kept. The property itself is a short walk (let's say six blocks) from the historic downtown area and is also close to the Katy biking trail. We also especially enjoyed sitting out on the front porch in the morning, me with my coffee, and Trophywife with her tea, visiting with other guests. All in all, a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. It certainly won't be our last at our new friends, Chris and Larry's place.

Thanks you so much for the wonderful review. It has given me a few minutes to think a little philosophically about how our lives have an affect on others whether we realize it or not. As a nurse and now as a small business owner it never ceases to amaze me about a perception of an interaction. Often small things we do to make things more comfortable for our guests turn out to be more important than we ever imagined. Then again a bad review, one star (yelp), leaves you scratching your head thinking how could I have given this impression. Unfortunately, at least for me, it is the bad review that always stays in my thoughts. Larry and I appreciate your vote of confidence and look forward to a future visit.

It was our first visit to a Bed and Breakfast and we loved it!! The breakfast was incredible. It had a combination of sweet, fruity, and eggs. It was wonderful. Larry and Chris were wonderful hosts! I would recommend this place again and honestly, I don't think I'm going ever again to another B&B because I can't imagine it any better than this one. Keep up the good work and we'll definitely be back again!

A friend and I only had one night at Chris & Larry's fabulous B&B - but it was an absolutely wonderful experience from beginning to end.
I'm originally from the STL area but currently living overseas. A friend from London was traveling with me and I wanted to stay anywhere other than a hotel chain and also have the opportunity to do a bit of a pub crawl in historic St. Charles.
We contacted Chris the day before we wanted to check-in and found that they had an extra room! She was extremely accommodating and flexible, even when we were delayed and needed to arrive a couple hours later than expected.
The home was immaculate, very nicely decorated and felt very much like home. As soon as we arrived, Larry and Chris gave us a small tour and offered us a complimentary beer - bonus as we are both craft beer lovers!
Just a couple hours after arriving we went out on the town and could walk very easily to historic St. Charles. We hit up about 5 different bars and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Easy walk back - perfect location and we had our own key to let ourselves in.
In the morning we were invited to join Chris and Larry and another couple staying at the B&B for breakfast. The food was delicious, the conversation was fantastic, and I even got a gift from Chris and Larry after. The hosts are just such pleasant and lovely people. The couple staying at the B&B were regulars and had amazing things to say about the venue.
Overall, my friend and I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone that is looking for a quaint alternative to a hotel and is also interested in exploring historic St. Charles.
A couple of notes that may be of interest (although in no way did this negatively affect us):
- If you are looking for a completely private venue then this may not be suitable. We did have to bring our luggage in through the kitchen and felt that perhaps we were intruding on Chris and Larry's quiet time. That being said, they never expressed this to us and we felt right at home.
- Breakfast is very early in the morning. As we had quite a night out, only one of us made it to breakfast as the other one was severely hung over, haha.
- We stayed in the Fleur de Lis room because it had a private en suite bathroom. The other room's bathroom is not completely private and is more suitable for a couple.
- Check out time is 11 - which we completely overlooked (our fault!)
Thanks Chris & Larry - hope to stay there again sometime soon!

The location is just a short walk to the historic district and the St Charles trailhead of the Katy Trail. There is convenient on-site and on-street parking and even covered parking for bikes in the garage. Larry and Chris are very friendly and made us feel at home. The front and the back porches are relaxing areas to enjoy a morning coffee or an evening nightcap. The morning we stayed there was fresh fruit, roasted sweet potatoes, and a frittata made with fresh vegetables. Absolutely delicious.

On a recent stay, my husband, daughter and I had a very relaxing afternoon/evening after biking 240 miles in 6 days from Clinton to St. Charles. The Frenchtown Inn was the most welcoming, charming and comfortable of the B and B places on our trip. Chris even fixed us a gluten-free breakfast which was outstanding. Chris and Larry were so easy to talk to and gave us great advice of places to eat and things to do on Main Street in St. Charles. I will definitely recommend The Frenchtown Inn to family and friends!
