Fully self-contained accommodation in an old jail or B&B accommodation in an early 1900's house which previously operated as a Police Station house. A continental breakfast with organic food in a chemical free environment is included.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.

Unfortunately did not get to stay here and there was no one home during my visit. Beautiful gardens kept immaculately buildings likewise. Would have been very happy to stay close proximity to the village. My Grandfather was the policeman here in the early 1900's.

The Jailhouse is completely self-contained with everything you would expect but with quirky features like the bedroom being the former cell. There is a lounge/kitchen and shower room. All were spotlessly clean, fresh and in perfect repair. The features that made this outstanding were the special extras like organic toiletries, luxurious thick towels, free WiFi, and a very special breakfast that included local, organic produce and special touches like chocolate. The garden around the house is delightful, with a pergola to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Trish is one of the most outstanding hosts we have met - she was so friendly and helpful but without being obtrusive - for example she arranged for a local restaurant to stay open for us as we were late returning in the evening. Lawrence may be one of the communities that is easily overlooked but is well worth a visit for the history and the friendly locals - and to stay in the Jailhouse!

Trisha's B&B has tasteful rooms in the old Lawrence police house but we chose to stay in the self-contained "Jailhouse". We were cocooned in cosy comfort from the moment we arrived. The Jailhouse was immaculately clean and the decor was fresh and inviting. Trisha is a fantastic host and couldn't do enough for us. She was able to advise us about local places to visit, places to eat and other points of interest. She gave us pans to go prospecting at Gabriel's Gully She has an interest in healthy living and the food provided for our breakfast was all organic and sourced as much as possible from the local area. She makes the yummy jams herself. We have already recommended this B&B to friends.

I stayed here one night and during the entire time the hosts would not walk out of their house to greet us. We had to keep ringing the host to ask for simple things as their instruction booklet was out of date. Suggest couples only as bed and bath configuration is not suited for two singles as it offers zero privacy. The only positive experience was a suggested alternate route to cycle to Outram to avoid state highway.

We stayed in the cottage: twin bed accommodation behind the jailhouse door (with a peep hole once used by warders to keep an eye on the prisoners). This property is on the market now, which is a pity as the current owners have obviously taken pains to anticipate & meet travellers' needs. The kitchen is well set up for cooking with an electric frying pan, rice cooker, microwave & mini oven. The shower was excellent (with complimentary shampoo & shower caps) & the lounge has CDs, DVDs & novels, as well as informative brochures about nearby areas. We were lucky enough to stay while the roses are in full bloom. Our hosts were friendly & helpful and we recommend this B&B.

An interesting paradox in which the proprietor tried to create a visual experience of being in prison whilst at the same time providing a physical experience of being in a top Motel...they pulled it off !! Excellent kitchen ,Good quality coffee, tv and cd worked well. A little library which was unexpected but welcomed by an avid reader. Awesome bathroom with top quality complimentary cosmetics. The owner was friendly and warm and gave me a comprehensive history of the property. No bad dreams although in truth I had the cell door opened and the lounge light on .

Very friendly and proactive. I enjoyed the organic breakfast and environmentally conscious approach. Nice town too. Highly recommended. (I am not a fan of a minimum 200 character review. It discourages me from posting reviews in future.)

"The Jailhouse is self-contained and very special. There is also a room in the main house which we are sure will also be equally special if the Jailhouse is full."
