Came here with the family and had an amazing stay. The room was big and comfortable and the staff was great. The pool is nice, but with the beach right out front with bath warm water, it’s a no brained to hang on the sand.

Location is right outside of the main downtown, so
You get some quiet, with a short golf cart ride or walk into town.

They were very helpful in booking golf cart for the duration of the stay and airport transportation.

Only complaint is that my wife and I took advantage of the massage special they have. We were accidentally charged full price. We told the hotel and they immediately started looking into it and contacting the massage place. We showed them the receipt with the charge and they took a photo and said they’d get a refund for the over charge issued, but we never got it. I tried calling, but the number didn’t work and I sent follow up email and never heard back. A bummer, but would still come back without question. Maybe would just skip the massage this time around.

Overall very worth it!

Each of the suites at Villa Amor is unique, so I can really only speak to the Peninsula suite, the hotel grounds the perfect location and the wonderful staff. Set slightly away from downtown, this charming hotel offers peace and quiet away from the golf carts, cars, trucks with loudspeakers and general hub bub, but it's just a few minutes walk to the center and the main beach. Additionally, it's just a few minutes the other way to Playa de Los Muertos. The hotel offers free morning yoga classes, and the pools are beautiful. I can't say enough about the staff. Each and every one was friendly, professional and helpful. When I left something in the room, they contacted me immediately and were so helpful.

The hotel deserves 5 stars. The only reason that I have to take one away is because of a few quirks in the Peninsula room, which dampened our enthusiasm a bit. The layout was a bit odd because it was all about the huge, gorgeous balcony. And why wouldn't it be? The view is amazing, so you spend most of the time out there anyway, but when it's hot, you'd like to go inside. Unfortunately, there really isn't anywhere to sit "comfortably" inside. There's just the bed because the bar stools and single wood chair aren't comfy. Also, there are no curtains or blinds. No one can see in (yet, I note that there is construction happening next door, which may change that); however, the lights from town shine right in all night and kept me up, and the sun rises also directly in the room at this time of year, so you are up when the sun comes up. It's lovely to watch the sunrise for the first few days, but then, it would be nice to sleep in.

A couple of things to note, the restaurant, Si Senor, is not part of the hotel. It is just conveniently located there at the edge of the water, and you can get breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Would I stay at Villa Amor again? Absolutely! I loved it, but I would probably go one floor up where they have curtains.

We hosted all of our guests for our Wedding in Villa Amor (~55 guests) and occupied almost all the villas available.

My experience in securing the rooms, completing the payments and co-ordinating requests was nothing short of seamless! The reservations team especially Jesse; was an absolute pleasure to work with every day leading up to the trip! He was so patient, kind and thorough is ensuring everything was perfect upon the arrival of our guests. Jesse thank you for everything before, during and after our stay and for taking care of each and every one of our guests! You and the front desk team treated us with so much kindness and this is something we will always remember from our wedding.

During our stay, Villa Amor accommodated our requests for golf carts, airport transportation, quick maintenance needs and went above and beyond for a few events we held at the Kissing Garden from start to finish.

As for the rooms, they are all individually unique and beautiful in their own way. I would highly suggest setting expectations with your guests prior to arriving so that they may enjoy the wonderful beauty of Villa Amor to its fullest. (Eg- stairs, dinning, walking, etc.) The views, the pool, yoga in the mornings are all such nice amenities.

While we only stayed 7 days, by the end of their stay at Villa Amor, no one wanted to leave their villa and Sayulita!

Thank you for a great week Villa Amor, you will always be part of our most treasured memories!

What a stunning place. Every unit is different, very different. I’ve never been to a Hotel where there’s so much variety in choices. We have the unit with the awesome view, so many of them have awesome views with this had the awesome deck and the cover photo. The staff is amazing, completely helped with luggage. I’m not sure why but I noticed it’s five to $10 more to get a cab from that location rather than going to the main Square. It was even cheaper going to the main Square and getting a cab driver to drive us back to the hotel to pick up our bags on the way out —- 900 pesos versus 1000 pesos we were quoted. That said, the staff is awesome!!!!!! We only experienced loud music Monday night, our first night of a 4-night stay. They do provide earplugs, although they’re in the night the greatest and you can pick up better ones in the pharmacy. I prefer the ones they call swimming earplugs, they’re big wax balls that cover your entire ear.

I don't know if I've ever written a review for a resort before. I've been to many and I'm definitely particular about how I like my stays, but I never quite felt the urge to write about my experience. But with how well my (now) wife and I were treated throughout the whole experience with Villa Amor, I feel it's only right to share some glowing remarks about this place and their staff.

We hosted a wedding party of about 70 people, and about a year ago we decided that we'd love for them all to stay at one place. We did a ton of research, and eventually found Villa Amor and pulled the trigger based off a strong recommendation from a family member. From the moment we first emailed, Jesse Avila was the best. He answered the (what I can only assume) thousand questions we had throughout the year without hesitation or resentment. He made us feel like our wedding experience was the most important event in his mind, even though I'm sure he was dealing with a ton of other guests and events. We had never been to Sayulita, so we wondered whether the service would change once we arrived, but it legitimately only got better. The resort staff, top to bottom, was the best that we have ever encountered.

As far as the villas go, they're just like other people have said on here. Each one has its own unique style, and that makes the adventure so much fun. Escondida was our first, and it felt like a romantic and private getaway from the rest of the resort. Gran Villa was our main stay, and if you're thinking about splurging, it is worth every single penny. That place is incredible. The only thing I'll warn people about is that the Paraiso can definitely be a tough sleep when it's hot and humid, because only 1 room there has AC and AC was like a godsend for guests whenever we were looking for a respite from the weather. Other favorites worth mentioning were the Pacifico, Peninsula and Tortuga, in that order.

Quick hitter tips for those coming in fresh like we were...

Get the golf carts, because they were a lot of fun and saved legs and energy as the trip went on.

Trust that the AC in the rooms is MORE than adequate. My wife was grateful she brought her cozies, because I like it cold.

The resort does same day laundry for a reasonable price, and this was a huge perk for us since we didn't want to have a pile once we got home.

Food: Fish tacos at Mary's, Tapas at Sur38, and Italian at Zingaro.

Wedding venue: Brisa Mar Palapa. We had seen pictures, but it truly doesn't do the venue justice. Couldn't be happier with how that went, and it's only a short walk from the resort.

In the end, I'd just like to give another shoutout to Jesse and his staff, because we will always be grateful for this trip exceeding our expectations in every regard. Thanks!

The hotel is beautiful, but for the price, it was low value. We had a number of issues:

We got a two bedroom / two bathroom apartment and neither shower worked the first day. They fixed one the second day we were there. We stopped on our way from the airport to get food and our fridge was turned off so when we arrived late and unpacked our food, the next morning, everything had spoiled.

No one told us there were yoga classes, so I walked across town for yoga, only to find out the hotel had classes every morning. The Concierge said there was yoga every day except Fri/Sat/Sun.... and then we went to the pool Friday and there was a yoga class that morning as well. I told them I was disappointed about the miscommunication and he didn't even apologize.

We reserved a car with a carseat and triple checked that there would be one there, and it was in the car on the way to the hotel, but even with a reminder, they forgot on the way back. This caused a 30-min delay on the way to the airport. The driver kept complaining about the owner of the hotel, always forgetting to tell him… he was angry and irritated the entire ride that we needed one and we made him late. It caused a particularly unpleasant ride to the airport.

There were people working in our patio one afternoon when we were on the patio and did not even apologize or acknowledge it was inconvenient. I didn’t feel comfortable sitting out there alone in a bathing suit; it was the only afternoon we were trying to relax there. I thought the space was supposed to be private. I'm not sure if they were working there the other days as well since we were not in the apartment.

The view is beautiful though. And the place nicely decorated and very clean. For the price, there were other places half the price I will stay at when we return to Sayulita.

Dear Melitravel4: Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience at Villa Amor. Your feedback is truly valuable to us and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you faced at the beginning of your stay. We deeply regret the issues you encountered with the water and the unexpected loss of electricity. Such disruptions are certainly not reflective of the high standards we strive to maintain. Please know that immediate action was taken once management became aware of the problems. We understand the importance of a comfortable experience especially after a late arrival. We were able to rectify all maintenance issues the next morning. Informing guests of our yoga program is part of our welcome package, and we are sorry you missed that information. Your feedback serves as a catalyst to us to reinforce our late night procedures, clear understanding of our amenities and third party car services. We were happy to reimburse you for the loss of consumables that were in the refrigerator overnight. Thank you again for reaching out to us. We would be delighted to assist in ensuring your next stay surpasses your expectations. You did like the view and the accommodations.

We stayed three nights over Thanksgiving in Villa Hermosas We thought the property was beautiful and the service was great until it wasn’t …….
On the last full day of our trip I decided not to wear my wedding rings to the beach. Our safe wasn’t working , so I tucked them in a side pocket of my suitcase underneath some clothes. When I went to wear them the next morning, they were gone. I tore my suitcase apart, and nothing. When I reported to the front desk upon checkout, I was told, “This doesn’t happen here.” Well, YES it does. I am so disappointed. I can also report that the housekeeper, Irma, definitely went through my bag because my hair dryer cord was wrapped the way they had there’s wrapped, and I have never done that and did not ever take my hair dryer out of my bag, but did use the one provided.
Final note, the property was lovely and I would actually stay again. I will not bring any valuables again and am warning anyone who is considering staying here to do the same.

Villa Amor was a awesome experience. My fiancé has travelled many places and so have I and we really had the best time. He said said one of his best trips ever. Reception was very friendly and sincere. Ivan from the Bar and the rest of the whole team at Si Senior was amazing. Didn’t realize we didn’t say goodbye properly so we decided we just have to come back! The house keeping was awesome and Elizebeth and her team added extra touches that really made us feel at home. We asked about golf cart and they had a local company deliver and pick up for us. Even staff charged it over night without us asking. Surf, paddle, body boards available,Top Notch. We’d love one day to make this one of our second homes no doubt. Only complaint is we didn’t get to stay longer. I personally been at hostels and Luxury hotels throughout the years and none of it matters if the staff don’t care. Speaks volumes of a place when everyone is gracious and genuine. Nothings perfect but we had a Beautiful time before we both have to get back to our busy winter work life. This is long but they are awesome. Close walk to town , even closer if you cut through the beach. Remember flash rain comes during this season so be prepared for hunkering for 30
Mins to a hour in a bar and watching the storm pass in the evenings. Cheers Villa Amor until we meet again 🍹🧉🍻

Beautiful location just a few minutes walk to Sayulita bars and restaurants. Variety of rooms and villas. Villas and larger rooms sometimes have small bedrooms with AC and the rest of the villa under cover with open air. In hot and humid months you may need a private dipping pool or all inside room so make sure you check the room type before you spend big for the larger villas/rooms. Hillside terraces allow mostly secluded patios and private pools. Great view of ocean, beach and local fishing. Eduardo at the front desk was so helpful resolving a misunderstanding with 3rd party airport transfer company, extra towels, directions, and recommendations. Service is top notch.
