I booked my stay early this year before the quarantines, and was so thrilled to realize that everything at Haramara is open air, so it is the ideal place to be. I coul do yoga outdoors at their gorgeous yoga shalas, and then relax at the beach or by the pool.

I have never stayed at a resort or retreat where everyone, from the cleaning and landscaping staff to the chefs and waiters, paid such exquisite attention to detail and just generally went the extra mile at all times. As a vegan, I am accustomed to traveling where I 'make do' and rarely eat well; the food was consistently absolutely sublime, truly on par with the best high-end vegan restaurants in the Bay Area. (My partner is an omnivore, and was also thrilled with every meal.)

The variety of birds, butterflies, etc was awesome--I could have lounged in my casita hammock all day and been totally entertained. But most of all, I was touched by the deep kindness and thoughtful care of the staff. This is a very special place.

From the moment you arrive, to the moment you leave -- you are treated as a Guest, providing exceptional service, food and hospitality. Anything you need, they are there for you! And the food and drinks...first, I don't like cilantro; and they fully accommodated me for a full week of eating 3 meals a day. Who can do that? The sights are impeccable, the air is fresh, the pool is amazing. We were a group of 19 and every single one of us had an amazing time. Many are repeat attendees, which says a lot about a retreat property.

Haramara is simply amazing. It was exactly the relief I needed after months of being cooped up in my city apartment -- nature, fresh air, and incredible food. The staff were welcoming and attentive, and they create a space that allows you to set down some stress during a chaotic time. Worth every mosquito bite.

The borders have been closed due to the COVID-19 situation and Haramara refuses to refund the deposit for the yoga retreat that we are not able to go to any longer due to situations beyond our control. Not only will they not refund, they now refuse to answer calls or emails. Offered a 'rebook' but conveniently have zero spots open for rebooking.....hmmmmm.
Every business is suffering during this time, I understand that but handling in this way solidifies I will NEVER be supporting this business. It is being handled in the complete opposite way of what I would expect a retreat center, especially a yoga and wellness center.

I have been visiting Haramara since they opened over a dozen years ago and every visit gets better and better. The owner has done an incredible job in creating a unique and authentically soulful place. The rooms are beautifully designed, the yoga shalas are perfect for practice, the food is excellent and staff - many of whom have also been there since the very beginning - are exceptional. I couldn't recommend Haramara more highly.

Haramara is a special gem. I attended a week long yoga retreat in Feb 2023 and had an astonishing experience. The ability to fully unplug while staying in exquisite accommodations is a rarity. Food, staff, locations, body work and rooms -all stellar.

I took my teenage daughter on a personal retreat at Haramara. We slept to the sound of pounding surf in our gorgeous cabana Obsidian in the jungle complete with hammock and outdoor shower. We woke to a fabulous breakfast, followed by yoga with beautiful views and massages at the tranquil spa. We spent time at the wild and beautiful beach sitting under the shaded awnings. It was a bit rough to swim but you could go around the corner to the next beach which was calmer. My daughter also went on a group hike and rode a horse through sayulita and galloped along the beach. The Infinity pool was a stunning place to hang out and chat with other guests. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. After 4 fabulous nights we felt relaxed and refreshed. There was as much or as little to do as you liked. It was challenging going up and down the steep hill but you were rewarded for you effort. I hope to return again soon.

I heard about this place through my yoga class. This place is paradise, I came back feeling completely rejuvenated!! Everything in Haramara it's absolutely perfection. The attention to all the details that the owner invest is amazing, from the free smiles we get from the staff, the gourmet food and the amazing accommodations, this is the most perfect place to be for mediation and discovering oneself. The weather was perfect. The shalas and the casitas brought a sense of tranquility. Don't forget to get a massage the best I've gotten thus far. Also, if you have an opportunity, do a sweat lodge OMG! do it. I will be going back with my yogis next year! Namaste all. :)

Incredible Experience. At first I was unsure I could be without wifi and in constant contact with work and kids. How could I sleep without a fan?! But I was so grateful electricity and cell service was limited. I could slow down and connect with my husband. Talk, laugh, hike around, and just chill by the pool with a book. The grounds are amazing, the cabin casitas are so beautiful in a natural and understated way. The best of summer camp vibes. The yoga clases were held in a stunning shala. The food and drinks so healthy, fresh and delicious and the staff all so nice! I love haramara!

This is probably too late to be helpful. I don't know which of these Casitas has an ocean view. All the casitas have some kind of open space, either a hammock, or patio chairs in front of them. There aren't balconies, per se, though one or two casitas had wrap-around type space on them. The showers are all sort of open air, not exactly outside, but the casitas are all open air, so you will get the feel you want. I would call the resort for guidance on choosing the perfect casita for you. And note that the closer to the cliffs a casita is, the harder the walk up to the restaurant!

It's amazing how safe you feel when your their. The doors are sliding doors, no locks. There where many women who had traveled alone that where in our group that felt safe, along with their individual travels into town alone. Best wishes!

Can anybody tell me if the water for the showers are ocean water or fresh water?
Answer from Patrick R

Showers are fresh water, just not necessarily drinking water. The sinks are also fresh water. They provide fresh drinking water in the rooms as well. The rooms are great.
