The Kirkton Inn was built in 1879 following on from the initial founders and settlers coming to the village in 1875. The Inn is situated in the heart of Burns country in the picturesque village of Dalrymple, only two miles south of Alloway in Ayr, Ayrshire. Since its conception The Kirkton Inn gained a reputation as a well-respected restaurant and over time was the focal point of local residents and visitors alike. John & Heather Keenan at Eurotrade Windows & Kitchens purchased The Kirkton Inn in April 2018 and have extensively renovated the property.

Detailed Reviews
Booked for dinner and was not disappointed.
The welcome was nice and friendly, the setting was fine certainly not crowded in plenty of space between the tables.
The menu was very comprehensive and reasonably priced, plenty of variation to suit all tastes and pockets.
the food was cooked to perfection , the service was friendly and attentive but not intrusive
the toilets were spotlessly clean as well which counts for a lot.
Certainly be back.

Nice bright and well decorated with attentive happy staff.
When we ordered we where told no steak available (its Sunday afternoon we have ran out) and the wine we ordered was out of stock...
When we found something on the menu we liked (party member ended up with a hamburger rather than steak) it was beautifully presented, filling and tasty

First dinner out in a restaurant after lockdown and did not disappoint. Although service for menu and first drinks was a little slow, everything after that was spot on. Really friendly service and good social distance measures and precautions in place, but above all fabulous food. We chose the venison 3 ways and the beef Wellington with haggis as mains and were very impressed. Cooked medium rare as requested and piping hot. The sticky toffee pudding was to die for!

My husband and I dined here this evening. The overall appearance of the restaurant was beautiful and the social distancing between the tables was definitely more than 2 metres. We both had a starter and main course. The starter was beautiful. He had the chicken liver parfait, and I had the goats cheese salad.
We both ordered the roast chicken sunday dinner and we found the portions to be small. I personally really disliked the main course. I mistakenly assumed the chicken would be breast but when it arrived, it was 2 chicken portions. My personal taste hates chicken on the bone and in skin, so my meat was wasted. I ate my vegetables and my husbands too, but as previously stated the portions were small. We both jointly agreed that the yorkshire pudding was overcooked so neither of us ate that. Most of this review is based on personal tastes, but we really felt that paying £49 for the whole meal was very expensive for sub standard quality. The waiting staff were lovely, but they were obviously under pressure as the waiting time for ordering and being served between courses was rather longer than we would have liked or expected. As I say, this may not be everyones expereience, but we certainly wont be returning in the near future. Locally, there are too many restaurants to be given custom which provide far superior meals and service.

After hearing some good reviews, I decided to pop in. Staff were very welcoming. I ordered fish and chips and received two bits of fish like fish fingers and a handful of chips. This didn't add up with the price on the menu, I was absolutely speechless. That said, taste-wise, it was pleasant enough, but nothing extraordinary.
For dessert, I had a raspberry cheesecake. The portion size was very small, the texture slightly rubbery and really lacking in flavour.
The atmosphere generally matches the raspberry cheesecake I ordered. It was non-existent and the decor is very bland. All that country pub character you would expect has been removed.

I had heard a lot about this restaurant but for me, it did not live up to what I had been told. There were 5 of us. I ordered a prawn cocktail. It was small and a little tasteless, no bite to the sauce and it seemed to lack some ingredients common to the dish. I had another in a restaurant in Glasgow the following day and this easily surpassed that at the Kirkton Inn. My main was lamb, which I had ordered medium. It was dry and in the end, i did not eat it all. the accompanying jus was again, a little tasteless. My other diners were quite happy with their meal. A steak was good and plenty prawns in the surf and turf. The restaurant was busy but service was fine although it was rather warm inside. Despite it being 'eat out to help out,' the bill with drinks was quite large and it would have been more without the discount. I do not think that i will be hurrying back.

Went today with my three children for a last meal before lock down.
The venue is beautiful and the staff were very friendly and helpful. However, only an a la carte menu at 2.30pm? No cheaper or specials options available? For children too old for the kids menu, it turned out to be a very expensive meal. No main courses under £10. Average starter about £7.
I will say, the starters tasted amazing and worth the money. But £10 for a macaroni? I also had the fajitas that came on a sizzling plate, smelt and looked great....but not much flavour.
Definitely over charge for what you get.

Booked a table for Friday afternoon. Seated straight away. The place was very well laid out plenty of "social distances". A xmas tree but little else decor wise, but I was here for a meal not the decorations..lol. First of all it was a great menu well laid out and a dish to suit most. I wont go into the detail of my wife and daughters meal suffice to say they loved it. I started with chowder, wherever I go if chowders on the menu I must have it so as you can guess I've tasted a few, I must say this was up there with the best only thing I would say is try a different bread with it. Main course was of course the traditional turkey dinner, ok so i'm a traditionalist. The whole plate was well presented and the turkey and stuffing was excellent the veg was cooked to perfection. My desert was sticky toffee trifle mmmmmmmmm enough said. First time ever having meal never mind a xmas meal without a glass of bubbly. Did it detract from the meal, no. Overall the meal was well presented well cooked tasted excellent. The service was first class attentive but no intrusive.
Would I recommend the Kirkton Inn, well what do you think.

A few points to note on my visit, I had three friends with me it was their first visit to the Kirkton Inn and it will be their last. We had a table booked for 7:30 pm and arrived about 7:25 pm and had to wait in the bar until our table was ready after chasing up we were shown to our table at 8:25pm when our order was finally taken.
One of my guests ordered lamb and one ordered venison from the menu only to be told they had sold out and it was no longer available, the reason given was that the Inn only had our reservation and four more reservations prior to that day but during Saturday they had taking a lots of bookings and was now full.
We waited a further 25 minutes before our main course was served so from entering the Inn to starting our meal was one hour 20 minutes.
When I was. asked at the end of the meal if we had enjoyed it I explained how disappointed we were with the time and the service and was offered 10% off the bill.
Not somewhere I would recommend to anyone else again.

Not sure but I think it would be acceptable if sitting outside. Sorry I can’t be more specific.
They were closed down shortly after our visit and I think they are under new management now.
The gaps in the door were so large that I believe it would be considered outside space.
