I'll be booking here often now that my daughter started attending WashU. It's a few minutes away and very nice and not expensive. I got a double queen on the 6th floor and the room was very spacious and had wood flooring instead of the normal carpet flooring that we usually see in hotels. The bathroom had both a bath and shower and I love the flush on the toilet...definitely no way to clog it :) They're like flushing in an airplane. Sorry back to the room. The cable TV had a lot of stations so if you happen to be staying in, there's a lot of variety in what to watch. The wifi was nice and strong and I was able to stream and have zoom meetings. I also like the decor of the hotel being very traditional with some nice big chandeliers in the lobby. The staff was nice although I did see one of them walking around with a face mask but under his mouth so not very useful but everything looked and felt clean. I visited my daughter during the weekend so parking was free. Overall a good place to stay

The rooms are clean and modern, the staff is friendly, and the location is great. As an added bonus they are pet friendly and Covid conscious. The free breakfast is served in the restaurant next door. The restaurant required masks at the buffet and provided hand sanitizer and/or gloves for those using the buffet. They also have an outdoor patio for those who do not want to eat inside or are traveling with a pet. The waitress brought our dog a water bowl and was very accommodating to our elderly dog. There is a lovely park and good restaurants with outdoor seating close to the hotel. We will definitely stay here again when visiting St. Louis.

This hotel is centrally located in "downtown" Clayton with easy access to highways and main roads throughout St. Louis. We got free parking for 2 of the 3 nights we were here and discounted parking on the third night. A substantial breakfast with an omelet and waffle bar is included. My only caveat is that there were special functions 2 of the 3 nights on the 7th Floor (ballroom) and we could hear/feel the thump of the bass on the 4th floor (it was louder in the bathroom, for some reason). Front desk staff acknowledged the "noise" and noted that the event would end at 11 p.m. Not sure I'd stay here again, given the potential for that level of disturbance. Otherwise a clean hotel with attentive staff in a handy location.

Check in went smoothly. Friendly desk personnel. The room was not oversized but was comfortable. It was clean (vinyl plank flooring rather than carpet), and bed and pillows were comfortable. Nice shower, towels not extra soft but not thin and scratchy. Nice pool, game room and exercise room. Breakfast was buffet style in the restaurant area of the hotel and was included in our stay. We will definitely consider staying there again.

King room was comfortably ample size with writing desk and relaxing chair. Two sinks in the general bathroom area. The hotel layout sort-of rambles with different elevations and different elevators for different areas of rooms. It is built on a hill area. The loading area in front is on a hill and the parking garage is reached by a skyway which is cumbersome when managing baggage. Even though one pays ($6) only once per weekday 24-hour period, parking tickets must be validated each time of entry/departure. Parking is free Saturday and Sunday. Breakfast has both hot and cold offerings. Would be nice to have coffee/tea available 24/7 as is in many hotels. Staff was nice and accommodating with extra towels and questions. We needed a tire gauge and a night-duty staff person got one from his truck to loan us; we are most appreciative even though we, unfortunately, don't know his name.

I had booked this hotel in February through a non refundable site. Even though the Rolling Stones concert was postponed, we decided to use our hotel stay. Oh my, I am so glad we went. Our room was SO clean and updated. We had a fridge and microwave in our room. With Covid 19, the pool and exercise room was closed. The breakfast buffet was not an option, but they did have a list of things you could get to go.

Paris was great checking us in. Max was awesome too. He gave us a free shuttle to a bar around the corner.

You could smell how clean the hotel was and the elevator was sanitized often. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

We reserved a room through Orbitz and when we arrived, the front desk could not find our reservation under my name, credit card transaction, or Orbitz confirmation number. They were extremely unhelpful and said they could not do anything for us. The other front desk associate was yelling at a customer because of his exact same issue while I was trying to resolved this. We went to another hotel and stayed there. Orbitz refused to refund us for the stay because the hotel said we did not show up. I told them to review the camera because we were there and the hotel refused to take any accountability. Highly recommend not even considering this hotel.

Stayed here for a couple of nights on business. The hotel is located in the heart of Clayton and within walking distance of some good restaurants. The people were nice and check-in was a breeze. It is an older property that has changed brands. It is showing it's age. The decor is dated and shows a lot of wear and tear. The carpet in the halls needs replaced. The room was decent in size but not huge. On the plus side, I had people in the rooms adjacent to me but never heard them and there was plenty of hot water and the water pressure was good. Carpet in the room was at some point replaced with vinyl floors of faux wood. They look cheap. They only offer maid service upon request which is more like a budget motel than a hotel. The room was not dirty, per se, but had cleanliness issues that again were more like a budget property than a hotel.

I stayed here a couple of years ago, I had a really good stay, so I stayed here with my family two nights over Labor Day 2024 weekend. This hotel has some really nice features, but also has room for improvement. The on-line rating was good, the price was inexpensive, and my stay from a few years ago were the reasons I booked. First the good. The free breakfast was as good as anywhere I have had at a motel. I ate there two mornings, ate a bunch of different foods each morning, and still didn't get to try everything. Service was outstanding. The bathroom in the room was recently refurbished and was top notch. The controls for the shower were push button and water temperature was electronically controlled. It was amazing. The room was reasonably sized, and air conditioning unit was very quiet. Now for the needs improvement. The TV only picked up a few stations, and they were sketchy at best. For the most part, the TV was unwatchable. The game room was an addition off the pool, but the game room was 80+ degrees, and half the games we tried didn't work. The ice machine on our floor didn't act like it was plugged in. The drinks we had in our refrigerator froze, and the refrigerator had an annoying rattle when its compressor was running. Will I ever stay here again, maybe, but I'll try some other places first.

The complementary breakfast included pancakes that were very difficult to cut or chew. Also, when arriving and parking in the parking garage, in order to get to the lobby you have to walk down a dark alley and around a city block because the entrance from the parking garage to the hotel is locked unless you have a room key. It was frustrating that I was made to walk down a dark alley and around a city block with a suitcase at midnight. At least have a “buzz in” system so arriving customers can be let in without a key. Or provide instructions about driving to the front door/lobby to get your key first, then go to the parking garage.

Hello, I was just at this hotel 2 weeks ago and went to Washington University. I drove and it was a very close drive. It is about a 3 to 5 minute drive but there is quite a bit of construction near the former entrance to the administration building so parking and walking is different than in the past. So leave plenty of time to figure that out once on campus. To walk to campus from the hotel is at least a 30 minute walk from Clayton Plaza Hotel. The good news is that there are shuttles at the hotel. I would make sure they will take you to campus prior to booking with them though. Have a great trip. Clayton is a great little area in St. Louis. Some very good restaurants. Breakfast at the hotel is much better than most hotels.

Thank you for the question, Rebecca. We are a smoke-free hotel but do have several areas for smokers. There is an area outside of the front of the hotel as well as at the entryway for the garage!

Forest Park, with the Zoo, Art museum, etc is about 2.5 miles. If arranged in advance, the hotel shuttle will drive guests to Forest Park as long as it doesn't have to make a run to the airport. The hotel is within a block of all the St. Louis County government buildings, including the jail and courts. So there are plenty of restaurants in walking distance, but not many attractions. Shaw Park is 3 blocks away. The Galleria shopping mall is about a mile. Uber is available to quickly get downtown or elsewhere.
