It’s difficult for a hotel to shine in low season but I can’t help but feel this one is a big missed opportunity.

The property itself is ok, though it’s starting to show its age in terms of style and the public areas lack atmosphere - to be fair, not easy when there are only a f

Thank you Richard for your review and for including the Bay of Many Coves in your recent itinerary. I have taken on board your feedback regarding the delay in receiving orders and have addressed this with our front of house and kitchen teams. The Bay of Many Coves Resort is set on 60 hectares of land in the remote Arthur’s Bay. We have 6km of our own walking tracks that we maintain ourselves. Arthur’s Bay is also home to 5 other other holiday homes which are vacant for most of the year but unfortunately on one of the days you were here, our closest neighbour was having repairs made to his jetty and the noise you heard was the boat that was carrying out those repairs. We apologise for this inconvenience. I have also taken on board your comments regarding the provision of activities on the water. We do offer kayaks, dingys, and stand-up paddle boards and have recently added a floating jetty for guests to swim onto from the Resort. We also have a number of activities which are in and around the Marlborough Sounds and our team are always happy to assist guests with all activity requirements. Thank you again Richard for staying and we hope the rest of your journey around New Zealand is memorable.

The location and the bush land setting are idyllic. Our suite was well designed and appointed. Graeme, Kim and Terry were gracious and helpful (as were all the staff). I particularly want to compliment the housekeeping staff. There are some great walks nearby. The food was very g

Thank you for your review following your recent visit to the Bay of Many Coves. You are right in that the location is idyllic and peaceful and thank you for singling out our housekeeping team who do a wonderful job for us here. We accept that from time to time the Internet poses some challenges, however being remote, it does make Internet activity difficult at times but we do our very best to manage this. I was surprised to read your comments regarding the menu choice, and whilst I understand you were here for 4 days, we do have an extensive à la carte menu as well as a seven course degustation menu option and then finally - we have a casual dining menu. If that still is not enough, guests are made aware that we can prepare bespoke menu items as required. I personally feel that the menu selection is somewhat extensive but do respect your feedback. Thank you again for staying with us and we look forward to seeing you back again

We transferred to the hotel by private water taxi, a great way to arrive. The hotel consists of individual suites, designed so each has a view and doesn’t look into other rooms, There were stunning views of the coves from both the suites and the main restaurant block. We found t

Thank you for your review and for acknowledging the stunning views that everybody gets from any of the apartments here at the Bay of Many Coves. We agree with your comments regarding mobility as the hills are quite steep around the property, however we are always available to offer guests a ride on the golf buggy if they find the walk up to the apartments a little challenging. We are so glad you took our advice and went up to see Motuara Island and a tour of the northern Queen Charlotte Sound. This is a beautiful spot and one we like to recommend to all our guests. Thank you again for staying with us and for your kind words and your review. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

We were with a large group and overall the stay was amazing. The resort offers plenty of activities, such as water sports, a heated pool and hot tub and walks from the resort.

The welcome upon arrival was incredibly friendly, which was followed by a yummy lunch. There certainly

Thank you so much for this review. It was great to have your team visit us here at the Bay of Many Coves during your recent company retreat. Thank you for acknowledging the special things that we do inside the rooms for guests upon arrival and culminates in a turn down service in the evening. We are glad you enjoyed the food and of course your trip through the beautiful Marlborough Sounds. We live in a wonderful part of New Zealand and I’m delighted that you took the time to allow us to showcase our beautiful region. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Great place to really get away. Close to tracks, minimalist design, clean, and the views are simply fantastic. Staff know your name, treat you familiarly and always look for ways to make your stay better.

Do you have to get the meal plan while staying there? Or can you get the room only, and then buy food a la carte? If you have gotten the full bed, breakfast and dinner plan, do you think it was worth it?
That’s a really great question. Simple answer is ‘no’ you do not have to take the meal package when booking a room at the Resort. In terms of value - that is an individual preference. Some guests like to know that everything is all inclusive whilst others like to make that decision once they get here. I hope this is helpful. Graeme and Kim Smith | General Manager/s

Can you snorkel from the bay/beaches just off the shore or you have to get way out to see any marine life? How good is the snorkelling ,please?
There are some lovely marine reserves in the region such as Long Island - check out the DOC Parks website (link unable to be added to this site) from the lodge itself we would recommend swimming, kayaking,or going out to take a dive tour or snorkel tour with local operators to long island - or visits marine life from boat charters such as dolphins, (or swimming with dolphins) little blue penguins, many sea birds, and other marine life. Please email us directly for more details on all the possible options.
