Pretty decor, delicious meals & amazing location. Memorable views from our private dining table of stags & geese grazing just in front of us, with rollers crashing on to the shore in the near distance. Michael gave great tips on how to find remote beaches & clifftops nearby. (Make sure you visit The Stacks!) Don’t hesitate to stay at the Wooden House. Would return in a heartbeat. Well done, Michael & Nicole! Delightful & friendly hosts.

Homely, welcoming, comfortable, warm & inviting, helpful hosts. We were feeling at home straight away.
The views from the bedroom and also the breakfast/dinner table are stunning.
Nicole and Michael very attentive, especially as only cater for one set of guests at a time.
The private bathroom and toilet are the other side of the sitting room to the bedroom but the owners’ accommodation is upstairs.
Excellent breakfasts, plus dinners on request (extra benefit – amazing sunsets).
The location is very isolated, a long drive from either Stornoway or Tarbert, but the scenery on the way is impressive. Stunning beaches nearby. The remote location and wildness made for an amazing stay, so very relaxing.
A golden eagle flying near the house was a bonus.

A small wonderful B&B on the seafront, which was really the highlight of our trip. Rarely have experienced such a beautiful lonely place with such friendly owners. We will definitely come again.

As the previous (and first) reviewer stated so well, this is an absolute gem of a find. Mick and Nicole may be new to the island but they certainly have a natural flair for this business and were terrific hosts. The home baked bread and all the food we had was excellent, and properly home-cooked.
The house is amazing - I have travelled extensively around the world and never come across one like this, the uniqueness only enhancing the experience. The sight of numerous stags right out of the back window, and the view down to the Atlantic was brilliant.
There are some terrific walks right from the front door, and also within a very short drive. The coastline is really dramatic and has to be seen on foot to fully appreciate it. We did a fair bit of driving around the island and, although we thoroughly enjoyed it all, I did think the area around Breanish was the best place to be.
On the map it may appear to be a bit of a drive to actually get there, but the drive is part of the adventure and the end destination is well worth it. The roads are actually very good in the main, with plenty of passing places - just watch out for the Highland cattle that can occasionally be a bit reluctant to step aside in any great hurry!!
In summary - this was a great island to visit, a real escape, and the Wooden House is a brilliant place to stay. Good luck to Mick & Nicole for the future - we will certainly be back.

My husband and I stayed at the Wooden House B and B for 3 nights. It was my first visit to the island and I will definitely return. The Wooden House sits overlooking the ocean in a peaceful location and the owners, Mick and Nicole could not have made our visit more memorable. Such wonderful hosts who went out of their way to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. The food was amazing - we ate in the house every evening. I would recommend the Wooden House without reservation and will most definitely return. Many thanks to Mick and Nicole. Linda Thomas

My girlfriend and I are just back from a two night stay at the Wooden House B&B in Breanish. What a wonderful experience it was! Contacting Mick and Nicole by phone on the day of arrival, they were very flexible as regards arrival time and kindly offered us some restaurant recommendations, as well as the possibility of food upon arrival if we were struggling. The place itself is fabulous, more remote it could not be but that was part of the appeal! And what a stunning house inside, so warm and cosy despite the elements outside. A lovely breakfast spread was served to us in the small Atlantic-facing sitting room where we enjoyed views over to St. Kilda on a clear morning. We took up Mick and Nicole's kind offer of a home-cooked meal on our second night and it was delicious, including a super Venison Pie. They also gave us some great recommendations for local sights and walks - our hour-long wander alone on a barren Uig Sands beach will long stay in the memory. A wonderful place in a blissfully peaceful corner of the world! Thanks for having us!

We arrived to Lewis without plans after four days wild camping and pretty soon after we hired a car it began to snow (in may-obviously!). After phoning around some of the longer established b&b's in the area we were recommended to drive up to the wooden house as it was brand new- and we were very glad we did!

Firstly the house itself is a work of art; built by a Finnish crew using stalwartly interlocking Nordic pine, its a really unique space that affords a genuine pleasure to spend time in. The fact that its 100% wood gives it a really warm and harmonious feel and the triple glazing makes it a great bolthole to shelter from the wind after a days activity.

The room was very comfortable with the highlight being an Atlantic sea view and the guilty pleasure being sky TV with all the channels (actually I think most people would appreciate the mod-cons after a days Hiking in the Hebrides!)

Definitely the best thing about the house though was the dining room. It is an absolute class act; a small romantic annex with a panoramic view of the Atlantic about 100m away. The sea comes roaring in on a windy day, smashing into rocks and casting spray; its an epic view both inspiring and meditative. Eating breakfast there was a really special, a highlight of our vacation.

Mick and Nicole were wonderful hosts- they are extremely friendly, attentive and put huge effort into every aspect of our stay but also had a great sense of when to back away and give us privacy. The breakfast they cooked was excellent with home baked bread, proper coffee and a full scottish fixed exactly how we asked for it. They'd only just moved in when we were there so their knowledge of the area wasn't huge but I am sure that will change going forward.

Regarding the location, it is epic- Adroil, Uig and Valtos beaches are all close and they are all outstanding. There are some decent hills behind Breanish although I didn't have the chance to climb them. We fell in love with Lewis and Harris and went all over but the western side around Breanish remained our favorite and we treated ourselves to returning to the wooden house for our final night. The prices for B&B's in the area were all around £70 which seemed generally quite high but I really didn't begrudge a penny spent at the wooden house- I had a great time.

We had the pleasure of being the first customers- would highly recommend that you be the second!

Just returned home after a month away in Scotland. We stayed in some good B&B's but this one was the very best. We had 4 nights there, the area is wonderful, if you like to be in the middle of nowhere and like walking and enjoying different vistas. The accommodation is spacious, clean and of a high standard, the shower was lovely and powerful. Then there's Michael and Nicole, who made the experience even more enjoyable. They couldn't have been more helpful and good company, we had great fun with them. Evening meals are on offer, we were under no obligation, and ate there 3 nights out of the 4. The food was lovely, we were very happy. I don't normally enthuse quite so much, but this is a brilliant place to stay. We will be back. Tips: We found our dressing gowns and slippers handy for walking from the room to the private bathroom, especially during the night!

We stayed the last week of July 2016 - had an amazing time! Loved the location, Mick and Nichole are just the perfect hosts. Friendly and make you feel so so at home. As has already been said on this site they really do cater for food intolerances - Craig gluten free and I have to say the food was fab. We would highly recommend staying here.

Wonderful place to stay! Mick and Nicole were great hosts, making my wife and I feel 'at home' We would also recommend the food, Mick is an excellent cook and both breakfast and evening meal (optional) were varied and excellent. Great views from the house include the ocean view and stags grazing outside the window: as an added bonus you can also coach the highland cattle off the road to get your car through!
