Clauzuroux was built in the 17C. Conceived in an H-shaped layout, the entirety consists of a large main building stretching between two large three-storied pavilions. The roofs are Mansart style and adorned with dormer windows. The tour goes through several outer buildings: the mill with its race, the circular pigeon house, the steward's house and its barn. The walk through the gardens takes the visitor to a bridge on the Pude.. We propose three modern bedrooms and two authentic and cosy in order to provide comfort and privacy.

Severine and Patrick were amazing hosts. Our family group stayed for over one week in the chateaux and gîtes and we had an amazing stay. The grounds are breathtaking, the pools fantastic and the family are so wonderul. The rooms are beautiful (we had them all and I can say theu are all wonderul). This review is long overdue -apologies.). Our guests had a ball and nothing was too much trouble.
If you are planning a trip, please do consider this picturesque, beautiful and peaceful location. Close to amenities and towns but large enough to stay and enjoy with friends and family or a good book. Walk, swim, play, BBQ! You will not regret it for a moment. Patrick and Severine and family helped us to create memories to have forever! Merci beaucoup!

I have never stayed at a place that combined such beauty with such a warm welcome that made you feltl instantly at home. Severine, the hostess, is the real Martha Stewart:( although totally understated and humble) She makes better French macaroons than the famous Laduree (and all sorts of extraordinary French delicacies), casts antique sculptures, and hand makes all sort of decorative things. She also speaks English and Spanish and I think Italian. . Patrick, the host, is a trained landscape architect and the gardens are extraordinary, extensive, classic, some with a hint of whimsy, others providing fresh organic produce for the chateau, all kept to perfection. But the finest thing about this place is how they care for their guests. if there are more people like this opening their hearts and their homes to their guests, there is hope that the world will be a kinder and more gentler place.

Lovely week in a beautiful and authentic place. The “Gite du chai” is ideal for holidays with friends or family, with tastefully decorated rooms, beautiful terrace and swimming pool. A special mention for the warm welcome we have received from Severine and Patrick, who have shared with us their affection for their beautiful house and guide us in the region. Very lovely holidays at the chateau du Clauzuroux. Highly and warmly recommended

A big disappointment! At the Award where is the box (€319.90) it is unacceptable that Smartbox offers this place for which I would not even have paid 90€ / night. The castle in question deserves a real refresh/renovation. To the frame of our door that almost tore from the wall! The housekeeping very dubious especially in the bathroom. Persistent odors in the toilet. Shower products and shampoo Cien (brand Lidl) Wet and smells closed. A real museum of antiques with stoned, dirty and bad furniture. Bedding must be at least 20 years old! And breakfast what to say: summary and rustic is the summary of the experience. The only positive is the kindness of the owners but who are obviously outdated. The hotel industry is a real profession, it is not even improvised to try to save your castle. We will certainly not recommend or return. There are 1001 castles in Dordogne this one is obviously too...

Our stay at the Chateau was one of the absolute highlights of almost three weeks in France. We were warmly welcomed by our hosts and made to feel part of their family. We were fully welcomed into their home yet had as much privacy as we might want. This is a quiet, relaxing, and beautiful place to stay and host Severine's home-baked breads and jams and preserves were delicious each morning! This is a great place from which to explore the Perigord region - so much to see and discover nearby! At the end of our few days we were sad to leave, not only the place but the people. Looking forward to a return stay some day!!

Had a wonderful stay at the Chateau for four days. Severine and Patrick share their centuries old family estate and make you feel at home. Severine is fluent in English and is a more realistic French version of Martha Stewart. We frequently ran across her baking macaroons or preparing homemade jam with fruit from the garden in one of the various kitchens in the chateau. There is a great deal of flexible space, that can be rented as individual rooms or a whole suite with bedrooms, bathrooms, and a kitchen. There is a relaxed, French-country vibe that is casual and comfortable in an amazing, historic estate. This is a bed and breakfast for those who want to get away from corporate/city life and experience the relaxed and hospitable pace of the French countryside.

This is a large Chateau in the French countryside. I stayed here for a friend's wedding. The hosts, Severine and her husband, are very nice and had breakfast ready for us each morning. They respected our privacy but always made themselves available if we had questions/requests.
They have two lovely dogs that contribute to the "family" atmosphere. The pool is amazing and in perfect condition, the rooms each have their own unique character, and the gardens are incredible. It seems that much of what is used to make breakfast is sourced from gardens on the property - which is amazing.
This Chateau is in a very rural area. The closest town with an ATM/cash machine is Verteillac. Within about a 30 minute drive there are multiple beautiful French towns and villages.
This place is amazing for a retreat, wedding party hosting, or simply a getaway.

We stayed in the Chateau whilst our friends were visiting and staying in one of the gites/cottages on site. We were only there overnight but were made to feel so welcome by the owners who were friendly and helpful. Their dog (Legatt/Lecat?? something like that, but we renamed him Truffles) was very friendly and we all fell in love with him and wanted to take him home, and I'm a cat person! The Chateau itself was beautifully renovated and unlike other chateaus was nice and bright mainly due to the large windows but the clever refurbishment definitely helped. Our room was superb and I have to say that the bed was the best bed I have ever slept in for comfort-I slept like a baby. There were fresh flowers in the room too and a fantastic view both from the window and the terrace. The shower room was very modern and clean. We breakfasted in the dining room with the other guests and were not disappointed here either. A lovely selection of croissants and breads and many homemade confitures. Yoghurt and fresh fruit was on offer too together with cereals and with a choice of tea or coffee plus orange juice. All in all we had a fantastic stay and left feeling relaxed and happy. Thank you very much for your warm welcome x

We stayed in the Gite Chai (3 bedrooms x 6 of us ) for two weeks, you can do B&B and staying in the most amazing rooms in the Chateau. The Gite was superb very spacious with ensuites to every room and very well equipped. Very quiet with great views and a few steps to the pool which we had very much to our self's .Patrick keeps the pool in tip top condition all of the time as well as the gardens.
From the moment we arrived Severine & Patrick made us feel really welcome and nothing was to much trouble when we asked. There are so many great things to say like the location and area, local restaurants, the gite, the Chateau, the grounds which are amazing & full of history, tennis court and pool as well as Severines cooking, Patricks wine and hospitality which was just great.
Our brief was to experience the real France and people and have a relaxing break in a beautiful location......this most defiantly ticked those boxes.
The best bit of our holiday was meeting some wonderful people & family's at the Chateau which was only made possible by Severine and Patrick making us feel part of their family...something which is very rare these days.

Wow! What a building! Splendid surroundings for a great week's stay in one of the bedrooms along the courtyard overlooking the pool. Bedroom was fine with adjoining bathroom, nothing special but we didn't come to spend time there - the chateau, pool and gardens are what is breathtaking. We had the pool pretty much to ourselves, the tennis court is brand new and hidden away next to the veg garden, and the hosts were fantastic - friendly, accommodating, informative but discreet. They even let us use the kitchen! Thoroughly recommended stay - a few nice restaurants nearby but (nicely) isolated.

"I had a tour of the grounds, there is a great house with a pool to rent ( gite) which is wonderful for a family vacation. ( there are a few pools to provide privacy for different guests ) I didn't stay at this house but the people I met who did stay there loved it and were planning on coming back.
there are two fabulous large classic suites upstairs in the main chateau ( I stayed in one) with their own bathrooms and outdoor porch-- private, romantic and beautiful. For someone who hates to iron, I was amazed that even the sheets are ironed.
some downstairs rooms are smaller but still great. They all have charm, quiet and privacy.
There is also a private apartment to rent which is terrific and has a nearby pool/
all of their places are wonderful, have privacy because it is a large estate, and all of these rooms I think are incredible value.
there are towns nearby, and great day trips. My husband and I visited a lot of these wonderful places. we had the best week - went to cognac, toured how cognac was made, spent a day in Bordeaux, and another in Sarlat, this is somewhat an undiscovered part of France with some street fairs and wonderful local concerts. It's less touristic and more authentic. Im so glad I have been there before too many people discover how wonderful this area is."
