First, this is a Super 8, so that is why the price is the way it is. That said, this place fits our needs. We make a 4-hour drive to the area to attend Minnesota Vikings games. We stay in Chaska to take advantage of a party bus that a local bar sponsors. We're at the motel long enough to sleep the night before the game or the night after the game.
Since last year, this motel appears to have made some upgrades. The bathrooms in what we are certain are 2 Priceline rooms have been updated. (new flooring) The headboard area now features a cool mural of Minneapolis. Still, the rooms are of typical Super 8 quality. There is zero counter space in the bathroom. The sheets aren't the softest, and the pop machine is often out of diet beverages. For us, we're not there long enough for that to matter much.
Last week, I hurt my back at the game and had to sleep in the room's recliner. I was really glad I had that option.
The grounds are pretty cool. There's a large pond visible from half of the rooms. It's lit with a fountain. When we were there, the fountain was purple. Nice touch.
Upon check in, the front desk clerk offered us snacks left over from a staff birthday party. I found that kinda fun. I also liked how she engaged us in conversation, asking us if we were going to the game, etc.
I like that the parking lot is really close to the rooms. It's easy to unload and reload the car. Did I just say that? I truly must be getting old. I've always felt safe at this property. If there is riff raff in the area, they do not hang in the parking lot. In what has been about 10 different stays, I have never had an issue with my car or with seeing anything suspicious.
Breakfast isn't much to celebrate - a few pieces of fruit, some cereal, a waffle maker, and random pastries.
As long as we do the party bus thing, we will stay here. Prices vary a lot, however. During the Renaissance, expect to pay a lot more that standard Super 8 prices. That's just how it works.

Sincerely,
Robert Kraft
