My family and I took a quick trip to New Buffalo for a little spring break staycation. We stayed in a suite, which was nicely decorated. We stayed on the first floor and were welcomed by broken bottles and empty cans on our patio. I paid a lot of money for the room, and would have appreciated if the patio was not full of broken glass. Someone did come and clean it up after I called to ask someone to clean it up. The bartender was overwhelmed as it was very busy and he had no help. It took almost 10 minutes to get 2 cans of beer and a bottle of soda. The lady at the coffee bar in the morning was unfriendly and asked if we were staying at the hotel. We enjoyed the roof top patio, and the location and views were great. Unfortunately we could hear everything going on in the rooms surrounding us.

We decided to meet our son and his girlfriend in New Buffalo for two nights to celebrate the New Year. Due to Covid we wanted a facility that had a working kitchen. We settled on the Marina Grand two bedroom suite with the kitchen and living room in the middle of the bedrooms. It was just perfect for us. My husband and I could have our privacy and the kids could have their privacy. The furnishings were outstanding. There was a fireplace in the living room and in one of the bedrooms. The walk in shower with rain shower head was fantastic. Each room had access to a balcony overlooking the marina. I also used the swimming pool and hot tub for my walking exercises and a hot soak (available by reservation due to Covid.) It was great. The reservation agent was extremely helpful as was the front desk staff. Highly recommended and while pricey it was worth the splurge for such a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: The hotel is very large and wraps around the marina. A room near an elevator is convenient.

My husband and I were excited to have a mini getaway for our 5 year anniversary. Unfortunately, our time & money would've been better spent elsewhere. The rooms were basic, nothing special, but very loud - we could hear everything going on above & below us. The staff were not so pleasant either. I understand COVID might have impacted this a bit, but it's not like they were stressed out by the number of guests, so a hello (even behind a mask) wouldn't have been too hard as we walked by the front desk. The restaurant followed suit - mediocre food and not very friendly staff. No acknowledgement of the celebration we were there for at check in, at dinner, etc. All of this would be fine if it weren't for the $420/night price tag - expensive for off season. Frankly, we could've stayed at the Four Seasons in Chicago for that price. I get the Marina Grand is the nicest hotel in the area, so they can charge more, but that also means guests expect more. Seems like they rest on having a cool view and being the hot spot in the area.

Room Tip: Higher the floor the better here for noise. Don't let them put you in a room by the restaurant.

Visited son and family who had rented a beach house in Long Beach, In. We had a King Room with a chase lounge chair, desk chair, desk w/drawers, end tables both sides of bed, gas fireplace, small fridge (a hotel fridge that kept things COLD!). It had a small closet- 6 hangers -small cabinet with coffee pot and ice bucket, shower/tub combination, one bowl sink with storage space below for your toiletries. At least 3 outlets, with 6 open for charging devices. This was a modern comfortable and clean room. I hate chase lounges! I can't sit and read or watch TV as there is no neck support. Bedside reading lamps wouldn't extend over bed and were useless for reading in bed. Clock radio was a iHome automatic. It was 15 minutes fast for CDT and we were in EDT. I hate these clocks and was too lazy to unscrew the bottom plate to check for some manual action. Called for fresh towel when we left for the day. They weren't delivered 10 hours later. Had to go pick some up. COVID protocols were excellent requiring masks. We didn't visit restaurant as we are avoiding indoor eating with high numbers of people. We used this Hotel as a base of operations. So, despite some negatives, the place worked well. It for cleaning up and sleeping. We wouldn't want to be stuck in this room on a rainy day. We'd think a about a suite if we intended to spend some time in the room.

Beautiful and spacious accommodations...nice views of the marina to settle in on your private deck and relax each evening. Great location within walking distance to many New Buffalo fun places...within close driving distance to many wineries. Bentwood tavern restaurant in the hotel is wonderful with friendly staff and unique menu , fresh and locally sourced menu items. Clean resort and worth the trip. The only downside is the thin walls ...you could hear neighbors next to us and above us clear as day...this made one night an issue for us with a party that went loudly into the night.
