After previously staying at the Hotel St Regis, when we planned a weekend with family and a concert at the Fisher Theater, we chose the Hotel St Regis for its close proximity to the Qline Streetcar and theater. We stayed for 2 nights. The room was clean, however, the air conditioning was non functioning, there were only 2 bath towels and 1 hand towel and 1 washcloth and 3/4 of a roll of toilet paper and the bathroom lighting was HORRIBLE. We had the maintenance man up shortly after getting into the room as the bathroom light fixture was flickering and yellow. He replaced the bulbs but there was no improvement. In fact when the turned the switch on, the fixture did not always light up. The air conditioning was cooler in the hallway than in the room. It was 80 degrees outside on our first night and we both slept on top of the covers. Trying to get ready the second evening for the concert was like getting ready in a sauna. Thank goodness it cooled off that night as we turned off the A/C and threw open the window. When we brought this up to management we were told the A/C was functioning properly and they could transfer us to another room but it was after after 10pm the night before we were checking out.
And the bar and restaurant are not open.
We loved this hotel in the past but were extremely dissatisfied. We understand that many hotels are trying to come back after the Covid restrictions and everyone is short staffed but for the nightly rate we paid, we should have at least had the bare necessities.

Positives - Oz at the front desk terrific, great demeanor, very helpful. Gentlemen on call after Oz also very helpful and friendly did not get his name.
Room was very pleasant 6th floor.
Lobby very nicely done. Stayed on a weekend so area almost like a ghost town.
Negatives - both nights we were there incredibly rude and obnoxious people stayed in the adjoining room 1st night and across the hall the second night. Loud music and conversation until 4 - 5 in the morning. Did not want to complain as the conversations we were hearing made us uncomfortable.
I know things are expensive now but not sure I would rate this hotel a $250+ type of hotel.
I think they are trying but have a ways to go.
Sink in bathroom only seemed to produce warm or hot water no cold

The room had one wash cloth, when I asked for more, I was told there wasn't any. The only washcloth had holes in it. The toilet seat was very loose. Be careful taking a shower because there was only hot water and hotter water.

There was a DJ in the lobby blasting music through the entire building until almost 2:30 AM. Literal club music, shaking the walls in the THIRD FLOOR. Placed multiple calls to the front desk with zero follow-up and just let the music continue. Next morning asked for a manager and were told they weren't in until 2pm, then called at 3pm and were told the managers were already gone. Zero resolution and a waste of money. Both the actual accommodations and the service were extremely lacking. Feeling disrespected as a person who paid money to just get a night of sleep and the hotel couldn't even provide the one thing it is supposed to. If I was blasting music like that in my own room, the hotel would ask you to turn it down. But it's okay for the establishment to keep all of its guests awake???

If i could rate this hotel a zero I would. There is a reason this hotel is so much cheaper than every other downtown Detroit Hotel.
Here were the many things that were wrong:
1. Air conditioning (which they said was brand new), DID NOT WORK. It just blew hot air and it was so muggy and hot in our room. When we complained the front desk just said there was nothing they could do because the hotel was sold out.
2. There were nasty water stains and paint chipping everywhere! It was so gross, it looked like no one had been in that room in years.
3. The bathroom light flickered and barely worked. It was so bad it would give us a headache.
4. The window was foggy with water stains on it.
5. Water pressure in the shower was terrible and would come in and out. The temp of the water got luke warm at best, while the sink faucet only kept super hot.
6. Just terrible pillows

We asked to switch rooms and they were not helpful at all. The hotel was sold out, but I'm sure they could have done something. It was so bad, instead of staying two nights, we checked out and drove home 4 hours because that was better than ever staying at this place.
Do yourself a favor and pay the $500/night for a nicer downtown hotel. Save Yourself!

Great hotel! So, this was my second time visiting this location. I recently visisted to celebrate the life of my Grandmother and I had family visiting from all over the country. I have to say, the staff at this property are ALL amazing! Everyone was incredibly helpful and attentive from beginning to end. The location is great, the rooms are comfortable, but what really sets the location apart from all others is their attention to customer service. I highly recommend staying here. Oz, the catering manager, is charming and charismatic yet also a man of his word. He gets the job done. I am appreciative of the staff at the St. Regis for really making sure my family felt cared for at a really emotional time.

This hotel has potential, but is currently not up to standard. Would NOT recommend if you are coming to Midtown Detroit. Stay anywhere else! Checked-in on Saturday night and they were hosting as class reunion there as well. It was loud into the wee hours of the night. Loud music, loud guests, no one did anything about the noise. The front desk staff told us to come down in an hour of checking in to move car off street because they didn't have parking in lot or valet available. The rooms are sparse, one tiny wastebasket, toilet paper holder was ripped off wall, no screen on windows-- they opened up to the street below, air conditioner did not work, ice maker did not work, you see a theme here? The front desk attendant got me ice from the bar when I asked, that was a plus, otherwise the negatives win out on this place.

July 3, 2021- I arrived in Detroit and had booked a room at Hotel St. Regis. I was checked in and I had requested a double bed and got a king bed. I returned downstairs and spoke to front desk clerk and after much discussion he gave me another room with two beds however, the room was hot ( NO AIR CONDITIONING working on that side of the hotel due to construction) and I was in the room less than 5 mins and heard a very annoying noise over and over. We discussed this with the hotel and they refuse to refund the money for that day. We were in the hotel a max of 30 minutes between the going up to the two rooms, riding elevators and all the exchanges with staff. Never stayed there but being charged for one night stay.

I was in town for a conference and they reserved a block of rooms here. In no way did the rooms look like any in the pictures on the website. Shabby furniture, old phones, televisions and zero amenities (wait ,there was a note pad of paper with 6 sheets and a bic pen). No gym, no real coffee, and on a Monday no open restaurant or bar. In my room there was no cold water and drinking water had to be obtained from the vending machine. I am not a fancy person but this is by far one of the worst hotels I have ever had the displeasure of staying in.

I booked a room with two queen beds i showed up and went through all of the process to be told they only had a king bed remaining even though mind you i booked a double bed room .I was told by the front desk its first come first serve 🤔 really sir, i was so confused due to the fact i booked the room and it was held with a major credit card and to be told the rooms are first come first serve seem really weird.I was so upset i left without any incident, but i had to book another room and pay over$300 bucks because it was last minute thank goodness the 2nd hotel had availability on july 4th.It was such an inconvenience and in addtion i was told because i didn't cancel the room i would be charged for that night UNBELIEVABLE 😤😡.I travel all the time and I've never dealt with anything like this in my life.Let this be a warning about this place. Personally i think this place is going though financial issues and in addition are under staff and unable to clean rooms,so they offer what is remaining.
