We have stayed at the Element many times over the past 10 years as it is located very close to family. We arrived this time to find a very different cliental. The family in the suite above us was very noisy moving furniture late in to the night and there was no room service at all. When we asked at the front desk, the only comment was that they were not able to comment. An search through recent reviews and the Boston papers revealed that this is now being used as a migrant shelter. Why did I still need to pay regular hotel prices when the majority of the hotel was staying for free? They are still struggling to maintain their above average breakfasts and I recognize the chef as having been there now for years. I am very disappointed that there was no prior knowledge of this situation There should have been a significant reduction in the nightly room rate.

Definitely a few issues with this property. I am a long-time Starwood loyalist and I remember when this brand was launched it was supposed to be an "extended stay"/limited service version of Westin, if my memory is correct. This did not remind me of a Westin. Even though the room was reserved for two people, there was one bath towel and one bath mat in the room. No handle towels/wash clothes. Called to the front desk twice and never received any additional towels. Finally went to the front desk because I wanted to go to sleep. This extended stay hotel also featured a kitchen with full sized refrigerator...but, there was only one glass and extremely limited utensils, etc. Also called about getting a second glass but nothing arrived. Finally, I was expecting a Westin Heavenly mattress but found the mattress sagging in the middle/not firm. I use a Westin Heavenly mattress at home so I know what it's supposed to feel like. I know there are staffing issues during Covid but when a room is booked for two people, you'd think housekeeping would have two bath towels in the room, no?

The Element Lexington is ideally located at the intersection of Routes 95/128 and 2A in Lexington, MA, convenient to Lexington/Concord, Walden Pond, Hanscom Field, Lahey Clinic/Hospital, and more. I'd give the location an A.
Our room was clean, and I watched the housekeeping staff working feverishly to keep the common areas of the hotel exceptionally clean. I give the housekeeping staff an A+.
Our room was comfortable, efficiently designed/laid out, the bed was comfortable, the shower was great, and the limited kitchen, a plus (although, there was a haphazard collection of glasses, dishes, and cutlery). There were many signs of wear, and haphazard/poor repairs and maintenance in our room/common areas.
The front desk staff was beyond description. I am going to be polite, and defer comment, so not to offend the staff who should not be guest-facing, and who have no concept of hospitality or guest service . But, my God, no hello, no welcome, no thank you for being a Marriott Mega God (and for having been exceptionally loyal to Marriott, for years), no inquiry about bonus points, late check out, no nothing......not even information about breakfast hours, etc. Nothing! Although there was a human body behind the front desk at check-in and check-out, I'm not sure that that person had a pulse. The attire of the front desk staff, wow.
Breakfast was really weak, and appeared to have no effort by the hotel or staff behind it. No decaffeinated coffee. No low fat milk. Watered down (value engineered) orange juice. The yogurt bar was not provisioned/maintained, there was no cut, fresh fruit (like berries) on it, just dried everything, and, what can I say, it looked like it had had chemotherapy. If the yogurt bar had chemotherapy, the hot entrees and bread had the appearance of having had radiation therapy; the bagels were chemical laden, disgusting, dough, the single hot entree looked as disgusting as it tasted, and, again, instant oatmeal, and not Residence Inn style real oatmeal (I think the Element brand standard person lost their mind with their instant oatmeal concept). I think most people would be hard pressed to assemble an edible breakfast.
In summary, this hotel has a great location, and I give the hotel's housekeeping staff five stars for their extra effort to maintain an especially clean hotel. The fitness center and pool are great. But, guest service, breakfast, and upkeep of the hotel, forget it.

We were sent to this hotel after we had gotten to the Springhill Suites by the airport at 9 pm and were told by the concierge there that they had overbooked, and that we'd have to drive 30 minutes to the Element. A hotel that was much further from the airport at which we had a flight the next day at 6 am.
We made sure that the two concierges at the hotels had communicated that we were coming to the Element, so that there would be no issues when we got there. Lo and behold, they gave us a one-bedroom for three women. The concierge Mina seemed to think this was acceptable, but I can assure you that he would not think so if we were three men. The female concierge (I wish I got her name) was gracious and was willing to give us a room each. However, Mina stepped in and after much back and forth, in which we felt disrespected by his tone, we were given another room at Aloft.
Mina said it would take 10 minutes to clean the room, and asked the female concierge for the housekeeping key. An incredibly unprofessional interaction in front of guests. Also, it only takes 10 minutes to clean a room? That's concerning.
When we checked out at 3:30 am, we asked the concierges at both Element and Aloft to confirm we would not be charged for our stay, as promised by Springhill. The charges hit our bank statements; yet another inconvenience to resolve. We are loyal Marriott members, but will think twice when booking future stays.

Atrocious. No room housekeeping service is provided unless you specifically ask for it the day before. A fact that is not communicated neither at booking not at check-in. Only when you realize that your room has not been cleaned, the bed has not been made and the towels have not been changed are you informed that you should had asked for it the day before. In addition, it appears that this hotel is now a homeless shelter.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We apologize for any inconvenience you experienced during your stay. We want to clarify that our hotel is not a homeless shelter. Anyone with a valid ID and payment is welcome to book a room and check in. Regarding housekeeping services, we apologize for the lack of communication about our policy. Housekeeping services are available upon request, and we encourage guests to inform us the day before if they need their room serviced. We will work on better communicating this policy during booking and check-in. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention. We appreciate your feedback and hope to provide a more satisfactory experience in the future.

Clear management issues. Hotel dirty in public spaces like elevators. Room cleaning protocol supposed to be every 2 days but despite multiple phone calls and in person conversations with front desk room not cleaned until 6th day. Still waiting for a promised ‘phone call soon from my manager’. Breakfast no resemblance whatever to photograph on Marriott app. Noisy at night. Air conditioner of jet engine blowing power.

Our room was clean and comfortable. The one-bedroom hotel room has a comfortable layout. The ladies at the front desk were friendly, the convenience store was minimally stocked, our bathroom had two bath size towels, our room had no dish detergent and the front desk didn't have any, the computer at the Element didn't work, so I was directed across the street to the Aloft, where the printer had no toner, and the hotel had no spare toner (but, the staff was willing to print a document for me), maintenance/engineering seems marginal, definitely not the hotel's strength. I get it, we're in the midst of a pandemic, and this is a very trying time for the hotel industry. On a positive note, there were lots of signs about wearing face masks, and several hand sanitizer dispensers. The lobby and guest rooms are bare bones, due to Covid 19 (as they should be). Breakfast is Grab and Go, let me assure you, you will grab quickly, and go quickly, as your Grab and Go bag may include a fiber bar, yogurt, and a bottle of water (see picture). 9 months into the Covid 19 Pandemic, I'd expect Marriott to have figured out how to do a better job with a Covid 19 friendly Continental Breakfast. So, what do I make of the Element, Lexington? It's clean, neat, and otherwise OK.

I've stayed at this hotel at least 15 times over the past 5 years. I have found it to be fairly priced, with large rooms in decent condition in a good location. On recent stays I've overlooked the fact that there were fewer dishes, glasses and sets of silverware in the kitchen cabinets than there used to be and the fact that they will only provide maid service if you stay more than 3 nights, though I couldn't find that on the hotel website and didn't learn about that until I arrived for my most recent 2 night stay.
However, my last visit provided an experience that would make me hesitant to stay there again. The hotel had a large group of families staying there with middle school age boys who were playing in a local hockey tournament. The parents partied in the lobby (no problem), while the kids ran in and out of their rooms and played hockey in the hallway until about 2 AM (ugh!). We asked the front desk staff to break up the game, but they said that they could not address the children directly, that the parents refused to do anything about it and that there was nothing they could do. They said that there were no clean rooms to relocate us to at that time and they offered nothing to compensate us for our sleepless night.
Shouldn't hotels have a policy that would enable them to penalize guests who create a horrible experience for others? Could they have a quiet floor, like the quiet car on a train?
I understand that hotels like this got hit hard in the pandemic, continue to struggle with staffing shortages and that the hockey party represented more revenue that night than my 2 rooms. However, my observations combined with other recent reviews on this site show a mismanaged property in decline. I don't expect luxury at a hotel like this, but I do expect to be able to get night's sleep.

I recently stayed at the Element Lexington and was unfortunately met with a letter handed to me at check-in. No breakfast because of Covid, okay, that makes sense, breakfast items for purchase, blah that sounds unfortunate. If you’ve never stayed at an Element before they have really good free breakfast, during normal times. What I experienced at Element Lexington was really pathetic. By comparison, this summer I stayed at the Element Fargo, Element Palmdale, and Element Leawood who all attempted to make a better go of a bad situation and at least put together go bags of breakfast snacks and fruit. Element Lexington? They offered an empty pantry. It did have sugary cereals and milk, for purchase, but that is it. The front desk associate insisted to me with indignation that there were breakfast sandwiches, pastries, juice, milk, and cereal, without turning around to check herself she was in fact imagining a bounty of pantry items. What I find most disappointing is that the hotel rooms have full kitchens, so they could stock their pantries accordingly and sell me stuff I could make. Not this hotel, I would have to imagine cooking it with non-existing ingredients.
Be forewarned, unless you love sugary cereal and like paying as much for it as an entire box and half gallon of milk, this hotel will let you down.

Called to change reservation from 3 to 2 nights within the stated 24h cancelation policy. Front desk said system was down but would change our reservation with no fee. Called next day and learned reservation had not been changed. I asked again to change but was told that I couldn't cancel because it was less than 24h notice. I explained about the system being down but the service rep denied it and insinuated I was lying. At one point I said "I worked hard for my money" and she replied "And so does everybody else." She eventually agreed to do the change and then proceedd to cancel the entire reservation! Not only did they not change the reservation even though I was within their stated cancelation policy, they canceled the entire reservation and charged me for it.

I have stayed at aloft at other locations and not at Lexington - but from what I understand, most aloft hotels are similarly designed - they have a little funky decor and small rooms. Compared to that, element has big rooms. It is more like a business hotel where you will see fellow travelers typically staying at element for an extended stay.
Depending on what you are looking for, you may choose either of the two - you won't go wrong !
There are more places to choose from in the Lexington area.
