Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have been going to Sandy Cove for the past nearly 40 years. Almost always for structured. programs. And, we have made many happy memories during these. And, we have stayed in various accommodations over those years. This visit I was able to stay in a suite that had a bay view with 2 walk-outs and a soaking tub. It was just lovely. The extra living room area with a desk was perfect for my purposes. I am so happy there was no carpet, instead a laminate flooring, or something similar. The room was very clean. I'm picky. The view was amazing with sunsets over the river and bird sightings and the time of year allowed for extra peace and quiet which is what I was seeking. It was just plain special.

From turning into the driveway, the sign greets you with the words of Jesus, "I will give you rest..." Tears came to my eyes and I immediately felt so glad I came. Sitting by the water was tranquil, the food was delicious and tasted so good, the room was sparkling clean. Bed was comfortable. Nice upgraded shower/tub, digital thermostat, fridge in room. The lodge everywhere was super clean. You can tell all the details are well thought of. You won't regret your stay and you'll leave saying, "that's just what I needed."

Stayed here in the campground in one of the rustic cabins. We’re pleasantly surprised how nice the “rustic”cabins were, given they could sleep six people, had air-conditioning in both rooms, and had a bathroom with a shower. Very clean, but no frills. Excellent amenities for the price, and located right near the Inn, where we had access to the miniature golf and swimming and whirlpool. What a wonderful blessing of a time. Enjoy!

It's always nice to be near water. Initial check-in representative was very helpful and patient as I suffer from disabilities including PTSD, OCD. She exemplified the Christian experience I was expecting. However, others did not including not even a "thank you for staying with us" when we checked out. Just crickets. I liked the room location away from others 1st night but when others came next day I was unable to sleep at night because of noise upstairs (laughing, talking for hours night to the early morning). Additionally, pipes were very noisy when they showered or flushed or something. Food was not good, no breakfast and you miss lunch 1st day cause check in is at 4. Nice swimming pool but only open for like an hour daily??!! Rooms were okay though dated. They don't extend check out unless you pay. Can't say this was worth the cost at all. Even though it's winter, they should offer the same experience as spring/summer. I've had much better accommodations at this price.

The Sandy Cove campground is a very nice, clean, quiet campground with very nice and helpful camp hosts. But there can be issues with online reservations; our site was given to another camper due to electrical issues with their site which left us with few choices. And the people on the phone are not very knowledgeable regarding the campground. As for the pool, if you are not a part of the large groups that attend events on the weekends, it can be a little daunting trying to have nice family time. The large groups tended to be overbearing and the young lifeguards seemed to be intimidated when dealing with these large groups. All in all, we still had a pleasant stay and the facilities were very nice.

All was perfect for the Winter Women’s Weekend. The room was clean and comfortable with a view of the bay. The sunsets alone are worth the cost and effort of attending anything at Sandy Cove. The speaker and worship were truly inspiring. There were tons of activities to participate in. We have been attending Sandy Cove events for 30 years, and have never left disappointed. The only small difference is there used to be a delicious hot breakfast, and now it is a well-stocked continental breakfast. That may be due to Covid.

Set on the Northeast River, Sandy Cove is a welcoming Christian retreat center for the entire family or for just you! Offering family, week long camps in the summer, day camps, couples retreats, women’s sessions and personal getaways anytime, you will find a soul refreshing stay. Whether you come alone, as a couple, or with a group, you will be welcomed with hospitality and graciousness. You can roam the beautifully landscaped waterfront grounds, kids can use the playground, use the outdoor or inside pool & fitness center or retreat to the prayer room for personal reflection.
There is lodging for anyone, a hotel lodge that is beautifully appointed, a campground & cabins. Also on site is a laundry room on the first floor of the lodge. One thing you will not find in individual rooms is a TV. Don’t worry, there is a beautiful TV room with comfortable chairs on the first floor. My most recent stay was a long weekend women’s crafting event with an added day. During that group visit meals were provided on site.
Many rooms have been completely remodeled and all rooms are set to be refurbished by next year. The beds are so comfortable! The amount of beds in the rooms allows family of all sizes to find the perfect fit!
I highly recommend Sandy Cove for a one night stay or a whole vacation! The town of Northeast has antique stores, wonderful local shops and great restaurants as well, which is nearby. The Elk Neck State Park is located nearby as well.

This is a favorite place of mine to renew and refresh my spirit. The staff is wonderful. The rooms in the lodge are well cared for. The views of the water are lovely, the grounds are well-kept, and the walking trail is so peaceful. The indoor hot tub and exercise swimming pool are a real plus! This is a great place for individuals who need to get away and for families (lots of fun activities, some depending on the weather). It is true that COVID has caused them to pare back some services, but that doesn’t change the warmth and graciousness that you will experience there.

I paid 568.00 for 3 nights, from July 3 to July 6 2020. I have come here 3 times last year and this is my second time this year, I bought other lady's here doing the course of coming 5 times within 12 months. I'm here now and it has been my worst experience, when I first arrived I had to sign a waiver that if I or my granddaughter get sick do to COVID-19 we cannot hold Sandy Cove responsible. I was never informed of this when making my reservation, we go to the pool and was turned away do to full capacity, so many people were not wearing face mask, food was terrible, breakfast was cold food, lunch was very minimum and not good, we have not eaten dinner yet. But yet I paid 568.00, we should not have had to pay that kind of money and the food is horrible and all the other stuff that was not right. I'm so disappointed, and I will be looking into another facility to go too. I will say the staff were very nice.

I recently spent five nights at Sandy Cove for a personal retreat. My room was nicely appointed, clean, and spacious while overlooking the beautiful bay. Due to COVID, the program and capacity were greatly reduced but I lacked for nothing. When I wasn't spending time reading and writing, I enjoyed the many activities that are still offered, including swimming, kayaking, and archery. When my time there was coming to an end, I didn't want to leave. I will definitely be back!

What is the conditions of the bathhouse at the Pioneer Campground?
North East, Maryland
Functional and cleaned regularly!

You can fly into BWI as already shared or Philadelphia - both are about 1 hour from Sandy Cove. Renting a car at the airport would probably make the most sense. We don't have public transport in the North East area, except for taxi service. The closest car rental is the next town over - about 15 minute drive away. See you soon!
