The Nautical Nook B&B was an excellent choice for our 5 days in Auckland. Friendly and helpful hosts, good food, convenient location. (10 minute walk to Kelly Tarleton's Underwater World, 5 minute walk to bus stop and 10 minutes by bus to the Britomart & downtown). Now with WiFi too! Shamus the Irish Setter also greeted us warmly.

Nautical Nook is great for a stay in Auckland. Why, one asks ---- because it includes free sailing on the hosts 34 ft sailing boat in the harbour and out towards the islands. Plus the price for two ie a double room is only 120 to 140 NZ dollars. The breakfast is a very good choice of cooked dishes such as egg benedict, etc. Rooms are a tad dated but perfectly comfortable. Trish is a fantastic hostess and Keith, her husband is the advid sailor. Nautical Nook is overlooking a park towards the sea. A short bus ride along the harbour takes you into city centre. The buses come every 10 min and its a pleasent journey. Within walking distant of Kelly Tarlkins underwater world, and Mission Bay with its cafes, shops and restaurants.

The sailing was terrific, three hours and a sail back in the sunset with Aucklands harbour bridge sillouhetted against the sinking sun. Check out their web-site for details by putting "Nautical Nook" Auckland in your search engine. Other guests have spent whole days sailing, if you check out with Keith before hand as to what you would like.

Me and my partner were booked to stay 2 nights, on arrival we were met at the door by Patricia and Keith nice couple, and were shown to our room, which seemed fine......then to be told that a rugby game was going to be on that evening in a adjoining big TV room, with thin walls and noise, kind of acceptable......
I then received some terrible news about a family member who passed away we had to leave and get a flight back to my hometown immediately .My partner talked with Patricia about the situation ,unfortunately she was very inconsiderate and unsympathetic for such a sensitive matter I was saddened by this, on reflection I can only hope she may in the future think of putting personal before business......

I spent 7 nights at nautical nook in January & came back for another 5 in February. This is genuine home stay where you are encouraged to make yourself at home. The hospitality was warm, both upstairs bedrooms were comfortable (one has an ensuite shower room, the other has its own bathroom with shower across the corridor). The cooked breakfast was plenty to set you up for the day: fresh fruit, cereal, a choice of several cooked options with flexibility for special orders, freshly baked muffins, juice, tea & coffee. The deck has great views over the bay. At most it's a 3 minute walk to the bus stop where there are regular buses into town. Worth investing in a HOP card to reduce each fare from $5.50 to $3.15. Trish was full of helpful advice on things to do & see. Keith's sailing trips on Auckland harbour are a treat for both novices & experienced sailors. Thank you Trish & Keith.f

Just spent a couple of nights at Nautical Nook with my wife and kids over the Xmas period. Trish and Keith welcomed us as only Kiwis know how to do: simply and nicely, with their unique kindness.
Nautical Nook is comfortable and ideally located to discover Auckland and is surroundings (Mission Bay, among other things).
Trish's breakfasts are among the best we had in NZ. We also spent a fantastic morning in the bay of Auckalnd on Keith friend's boat (special thank to Mark).
Don't miss this address if you happen to spend a few days in Auckland.

This is the first time we have written a review for our accommodation but we felt that it was well worth doing as we had a wonderful experience at the "Nautical Nook".
When we arrived we were served homemade piklets in the lounge. This made us feel at home and allowed us to meet and chat with the hosts and the folk who had just arrived. Our room had everything we needed and was very comfortable and we had access at all times to the kitchen for a cuppa etc.
Breakfasts were memorable with wonderful food and some special creative additions!
We asked advise as to where to eat and they suggested the Santa Lucia. We ate there that night and found their recommendation was tops. We even went back the second night.
Keith took us out on his yacht "Brass Tacks" on quite a blowy day and it was fantastic as we sped along and we really enjoyed it. (The hair didn't quite look the same at the end!)
We highly recommend the "Nautical Nook" as a great place for any age or type of person as you will be extremely well looked after.

My wife and I came there with two kids, 4 and 7 years old. We chose the location mainly because it is in a quiet area, with a park and beach just over the street. It was also close to Auckland, just a bus ride away.

Our hosts were very friendly, and gave us a nice introduction with lots of info and advice. We got a single room with extra beds for our kids, and our own bathroom, worked great for us.

Breakfast was shared with other guests, and was very enjoyable. We got a choice of different menus. Each of the platters had a little statuette on it, appropriate to the dish. The kids liked that. Also a variety of fresh juices and fruits.

After we'd left, our hosts wrote us an e-mail that we'd forgotten our power adapter, and which address should they send it to? That just goes to show these people offer great service.

Nautical Nook is recommended for all sailors to the City of Sails!

My husband and I stayed here for our first two nights and last night of our 16 day trip to New Zealand. We discovered this B&B through Tripadvisor and were very pleased with our visit there. Trish and Keith are terrific hosts, very warm and helpful. Trish insisted on getting up to see us off and to make us coffee and toast at 3:30 am on the day we left (and was even prepared to make us a full breakfast at that time). The breakfasts were great - no other B&B in NZ or Australia served us homemade muffins each day, in addition to a full and varied breakfast. The location is very convenient (short bus ride to downtown and walking distance to a variety of good restaurants). We loved the view from the large balcony that overlooks the beach and parkland. The rooms are immaculate with all amenties supplied. Also, this was one of the best priced B&Bs that we found during out trip, especially if you take advantage of the discount Keith offers for paying cash. Highly recommended.

Fancy some free sailing - then this is the place for you whether you are an experienced yachtie or a beginner. The view of Auckland from the water is lovely especially at sunset and the company very relaxed. I had a great sail with Keith and Trish on their wellfound yacht. The B & B is well situated in Okahu Bay within easy bus ride of town. The rooms are comfortable and the hosts a wealth of tips and info to make your stay in Auckland most enjoyable. The breakfasts were freshly produced and generous - those raspberry muffins did my waistline no good. There is an excellent restaurant for dinner a short stroll along the road. Trish's advice to buy a combined bus/ferry ticket made for an interesting day out.
