We came up to Portland for a weekend getaway and stayed at the Residence Inn Downtown. We really enjoyed our stay; our room was clean and comfortable, the hotel had many really nice amenities and the service was excellent. The gentelman who checked us in gave us some great restaurant recommendations and arranged for the shuttle to take us to and from our evening restaurant location (it was VERY cold this past weekend). The hotel breakfast was good and there were many choices (including gluten free ones). The hotel was also quite convenient to many downtown venues. We will definitely stay again.

The room was very nice and clean. The kitchenette is a great option to have, we made breakfast every morning. The option helped save us some money. There are a lot of things within walking distance of the hotel. We were prepared for some changes because of COVID. They did not provide daily room cleaning unless you requested it. They asked you request it for the night before and vacate the room an hour before the cleaning was scheduled. There was no hot breakfast, but there was a good selection of other items. They had cereals, granola type bars, yogurt, bananas, etc. You definitely wouldn't starve! The employee would gather the items for your order, it was not a walk up and take what you want. You could get whatever you wanted though. All employees were very polite. My only two complaints were the parking and construction noise. They offered paid daily parking in a garage across the street from the hotel, but there is no walkway or anything connecting the two. If its raining or nasty outside you have to walk outside to get to the hotel. There was a lot of construction going on in the hotel area. While I know that is not their fault, nothing about it was mentioned on the website or any information provided about the stay after booking. We were out and about earlish most days, but they start bright and early with the construction. Just would've been nice to know about. Overall, I would stay here again.

This residence inn is very nice. The front desk person was nice and helpful and the place looked and smelled nice and clean (unlike the RI in closeby Scarborough which was dingy, smelled of cigarette smoke and seemed dirty). There were two issues here...the parking is either on street, if available, or in an offsite garage where they charge $24. Either way, you have to walk. The garage charge is like 20% extra of the entire room charge. Street parking consists of about 7 close spots, so basically non-existent. I ended up parking in the closest spot 1.5 blocks aways which is not great when it's raining, snowing, cold or you want leave a bag in the car. Plus, I had to move the car by 9am. I feel they should tell you this whilst booking or make other accommodations. It is a big deal. And, while I understand the Covid breakfast thing, it would be nice to have a coffee station or something hot to eat (or lower the room price if you opt out of breakfast like I did since there was no good cereal).

We appreciated you taking the time to review your most recent experience at the Residence Inn Portland/Downtown. I am please to read that overall you had a positive experience with the accommodations. Due to the limited parking availability in our urban setting, the hotel provides a 50% discount for self parking at the garage next to the hotel. With a parking pass issued through the hotel, allows for in and out access without additional fees. The hotel continues to follow all state and local measure in terms of opening up amenities and services. Residence Inn has recently launch a few hot offerings available thorough our gab and go breakfast. Based on reduce travel demand and limited services, rates at the hotel continue to be reduced over this same period last year. Parking fees and current amenity offerings continue to be outlined in e-mail confirmation letters. It is our greatest hopes to have the opportunity to serve you once again when travel needs bring you back to the Portland area.

I am a Marriott Lifetime Titanium Elite member. I have come to expect the best from Marriott, but this was a very disappointing experience. My wife and I arrived around 1:30 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon to commence our vacation in Portland (normal check-in time is 3:00 p.m.), and our room was not ready. We could have checked into another room, but we wanted one with a water view, as I had used a suite upgrade. I was surprised to learn when we checked in that while we were staying 5 nights, our room would not be cleaned during our entire visit. Apparently, hotel policy is that you need to stay 10 days or more to have your room cleaned. When I inquired about this, the person at the desk blamed Covid-19 Maine and CDC Guidelines for this policy, but I discovered that neither mandated it. This policy is something that should have been disclosed on the hotel website, but it was not. On Monday morning, we were awakened at 6:45 a.m. by loud noises outside of the hotel. It turns out that there was heavy construction going on in a lot immediately next to the side of the hotel we were on. BTW, it appears that this construction will be going on for several months. We probably could have changed our room, but we had full schedules for every day and were completely unpacked. Again, there was no disclosure on the hotel website of this ongoing construction. More importantly, there was no disclosure when we checked in that it would be best to take a room on the other side of the hotel, away from the noise. When we checked in, we also should have been provided bottled water or some other small item from the mini-mart, but we were not provided or offered anything, much less greeted as Titanium Elite members. We also encountered a strange situation in our room when we first went to shower. There were two containers of shampoo, but none containing body wash. I called the front desk, and the person there said someone would come to our room immediately with the body wash. However, nobody came for a couple of hours, so I had to call again, and then someone finally came. Unfortunately, there is more to our story. Typically, Marriott Residence Inns offer a hot buffet breakfast. Given the Covid situation, I was not surprised that there was no buffet, but was disappointed that there was no hot food provided. You had to order take out in the morning, and there was typically only one person packing the bags, and on several days there were long lines for breakfast. Really, the only positive thing I can say about this experience, is that the employees were nice people. Given our experience, we would never stay at this property again.

I stepped into the room and received a warm note with my first and last name welcoming me with two bottled waters and some treats. The room had a full kitchen, sofa bed, large flat screen tv, king size bed and Paul Mitchell products in the bathroom (shower gel/shampoo/conditioner). In the morning you are greeted with a hot breakfast which is included in your rate. There a $25per day parking fee and the parking garage is in the next building.

There is a resturant and bar on the first floor, fabulous fitness center and pool. There is also a shuttle that takes you into town. There are amazing restaurants in Portland. We ventured to Street and Co followed by a night cap at Gritty’s. The beds are comfortable and the rooms large and you will enjoy your stay

We stayed here the weekend of the Fourth of July and had such a great experience! Great location, walking distance to everything we needed, super easy parking, and clean/spacious/modern rooms (my only complaint would be the breakfast... due to covid they basically only offered bagels and I really felt there should have been more options). But we were incredibly impressed with one of the evening front desk workers (I was told his name was Shane when I asked the next morning). We came back to the hotel one evening and Shane noticed that my 3 year old had fallen and badly scraped his knee. Without us asking he insisted that he get us bandaids and antibacterial ointment and then also surprised my son with a ice cream treat. My son was so happy about the treat and my husband and I were so impressed with how caring and thoughtful he was. It definitely made our experience.

We were in town for a concert at the arena nearby and decided to stay in town. (About a 20 minute walk) The location was very convenient for us to walk back to after the concert. The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. I forget the woman who checked me in (F&B supervisor) but she was great and explained they had a shuttle that could bring us to the downtown area. This was an unexpected plus! We used the parking garage and had no issues. We spoke with Matt to schedule the shuttle and he was great as well. Breakfast the following morning was good, although it was a busy morning everything was stocked as quickly as possible until they closed at 9:30. I would definitely stay again if we are in town.

I planned a weekend adventure in Portland Maine and picked the Residence Inn for our hotel.

I love the idea of a suite hotel with breakfast and this was perfect. We had a one bedroom suite. The view was not the best (a parking garage) but that was not what we were there for.

The kitchen/living room was a perfect size and a great place to go if you do not want to disturb your partner sleeping. The bed was spacious but it did fill the bedroom. The Bathroom was quite roomy.

We did use the pool and hot tub. The pool was a bit cloudy which we informed the management of. The hot tub was very enjoyable.

The breakfast buffet was fresh and well stocked. There were choices from fruit to eggs to cereal so everyone can find something they like.

As for parking they have an in/out deal with the garage next door. If you look at the reviews on it there are some pretty harsh ones, but remember it is a parking garage! you can also chance on street parking.

The hotels location is within walking distance of the old port and downtown. They also offer a shuttle service.

To wrap this up,yes, we would happily come back when we are in Portland.

I tend to gravitate to residence inn hotels as they offer bigger rooms, kitchenette, and breakfast. That is no exception here, our room had a nice kitchenette and living space. The TV was broken and needed maintenance to come by. The bathroom was adequate, but it could use a refresh. The service was good. The parking is a building away (can go through a covered walkway). The location was just a little east of the main action, so it is walkable, however on a cold or rainy night, you might need an Uber. Would consider staying again, but if I can find a hotel more downtown, I would opt for that.

The room itself was nice, though the "harbor view" is barely a view at all. The room had just about everything you could need except they only provided 3 glasses & 3 dinner plates while there was 4 of everything else. I assume some were broken & never replaced? Our bed also had a mysterious stain on the bed skirt but the actual sheets appeared clean.
Breakfast is nice but in my opinion they close too early on the weekdays, especially for how many people are eating. If they stretched out the hours, I don't think it'd be elbow to elbow just to get a bagel.
Possibly from my own misunderstanding, I thought the lounge downstairs provided food. It is just a bar, which the bartender is VERY skilled in making just about anything taste right for you, they are limited in the alcohols they serve & it's a little pricy.
Oh, lastly, the pet policy is unclear. We specifically left our dog at home because he did not fit into the requirements but there were plenty of bigger dogs walking around.
