I stayed at La Perelle with my family for a night while driving back from Italy to Ireland. It was booked last minute since we had not intended to stay on the road for an extra night, but I am really glad that we did. The hotel itself is set in a winter ski resort, but seems equally popular with summer hikers. It has an idyllic view over the valley from its very high location. Staff were ALL extremely friendly and welcoming. Our family room was of a good size, tastefully decorated with a lot of wood, and very comfortable beds. The bar area is a really pleasant place for an evening drink (and the outside terrace looks excellent, though it was raining that evening so we could not use it.) There is also a (smallish) indoor pool. We had to wait to get a table at the restaurant, but the wait was well worth it. In particular, the magret de canard was very good, and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed her tartiflette (which has won awards) and tarte de myrtilles. The following morning, there was a good buffet breakfast, with excellent croissants along with coffe, tea, juice,l toast, jams, breads, eggs, yoghurts etc etc All in all, a great place to stop - and somewhere I would return to if en route nearby again (as well as consider for a winter ski trip.)

We visited for lunch twice during our holiday (a family group with a toddler). We were made to feel welcome and staff were all friendly and keen to please. The lunch is buffet style for 20 euro pp which we thought good value. There's soup, a cold buffet with quiche, cold meat and various salads, three hot choices from the griddle with vegetables, a selection of desserts as well as cheese and bread, with no apparent limit to how many courses you have or whether you choose 'seconds' of any course. Carafes of water cheerfully supplied. The only thing on my wish-list was wine by the pichet, the only sell by the glass or by the bottle, but everything was reasonably priced. Definitely recommend.

What to expect from a 2star hotel? I was a little prudent as what to receive in terms of services and quality...but the people working at this hotel managed to make us very happy and made it a very good experience. Location here is the major positive point: next to a slope which gives you a lot of freedom, surrounded by nature and silence, an excursion with huskies just around the corner ( this is a must! Greg is doing a beautiful job with these initially abandoned dogs!). Here your children can be like children sometimes are: loud, playful etc....no stress about dresscode for dinner, there is an overal relax atmosphere. On the buffet at lunch and dinner, there is good choice and mainly fresh vegetables. Only item I missed a little at breakfast were eggs but there was so much more... On a regular base you will find Antoine, the owner, behind the fire, cooking for the clients. My opinion is that Antoine should be less 'low profile' and be proud of his various skills😃

Although the location is very good and has ski-rental facilities the services and quality speak against: the personnel is not friendly, sometimes even rude; defect bathrooms takes forever to repare; there are appartments with no cupboards except one for the kitchen-utensils; no products to do the dishes; the worst of all is the restaurant: while breakfast is still acceptable, the lunch is prepared in a hurry from fronzen products warmed-up on a hot plate; all the smoke from the outdoor and the "indoor" BBQ enters the room facing the fronside of the hotel; smelly small swimming pool.

this hotel is not The Hilton but very comfortable hotel for a family ski holiday. We had an apartment room with view on the mountains. The hotel is located right next to the slopes, it has a ski rental shop with normal ski rent pricing, a small (very small) pool, parking and good food. Twin beds are small. The finishing of the rooms is not everywhere perfect but better than normal French standards...
