Etéreo - meaning ethereal, something spiritual and heavenly - invites you to visit and explore the cycle of renewal of that which enriches life: relationships, inspiration, connection to nature, senses, rhythm, and appreciation. Freed from the distractions of modern life, the celestial experience that defines Etéreo stems from Mayan philosophies and is landmarked by three pillars - extraordinary cuisine, breathtaking encounters with nature and beaches, and an Auberge Spa that facilitates rejuvenation in every sense of the word. Set against a backdrop of work by celebrated Mexican artist Manuel Felguérez, this luxurious property's symbology and inherent spirituality permeate.

At Etéreo, Auberge Resorts Collection, guests have called out the opulent amenities and the serene atmosphere that define the property's luxurious charm. With spacious rooms that boast impressive views and meticulous attention to detail, the hotel's commitment to a pristine environment is evident.
Nestled in a picturesque and secluded location, it's an idyllic escape for both romantic retreats and private family vacations. While the attentive and personalized service receives high marks, some travelers consider the pricing for rooms and activities to be on the higher side.

We recently elected to stay at the new Auberge in Riviera Maya. Overall, a fantastic property and worth the trip. The best things are the food and the property itself.
I can’t say enough great things about the food. While service was slow at times, everything was completely delicious and so fresh. Both authentic to the region and attractive to foreigners. The pool restaurant, Che Che, is a delicious Mexican / Japanese fusion menu. Itzcan, the main restaurant, is a delicious option for breakfast and dinner that did not get old. I was in love with every dish, but most highly recommend the Limon Dragon cocktail by the pool. Wow!
In regards to the property, also stunning. Gorgeous architecture, well appointed rooms, and picturesque sculpture / hammocks etc everywhere. The beach is surprisingly lovely, and very well manicured cabanas in addition to chairs and umbrellas.
The pools are gorgeous, too. They are the perfect temperature, cool without being cold, and have multiple spots of perch in / on the pool. Two quick call outs: firstly, the adults only pool is right next to, and below, the kid pool. This is lovely I suppose if your children are with a caretaker, but it means if there are loud children, there’s no separation and the magic of the adult pool is gone. Secondly, the mangroves have grown up so high that you cannot see the ocean from the adult pool! An easily rectified miss, in my opinion.
Now, for the improvements: service. Service. Service. Granted this property has only been open for a few months, but the service is spotty. It takes often 20-30 minutes to get the attention of one of the sparse pool attendants, who are kind but often make mistakes on orders. Little things like proactively inquiring about dinner reservations, making up pool chairs properly, having extra towels by the pool, having some tea or coffee in the rooms, etc. are all missing. The “Guia” service available by text is lovely but inconsistent. One evening we got into a cab that the Guia had ordered only to have the driver not know where we were going and get lost, a 90 minute ordeal that could have easily been avoided by proper, expected communication from the concierge.
My last critique, but an important one- is the nickel and diming. I feel immediately annoyed when a true 5 star resort charges for little things. $50 for a basic yoga class, $75 to simply enter the spa! I don’t feel that paying $1k+ a night and then paying $2 for a banana or $6 for a pastry with the (thankfully) complimentary coffee elicits top quality.
All in all, I think Etereo has real promise and should be a top contender when considering Riviera Maya.

From the moment you step foot on property you feel calmness surround you. Every choice from the aesthetics to the sound proof rooms has been made to ensure a relaxing time for guests.
Food - your body will tell you (as will your tastebuds) that the food you’re receiving is made from the freshest ingredients. Every dish and every culinary experience was created with care. We had the pleasure of partaking in a few of the special culinary journeys. I would definitely recommend them to everyone. We especially enjoyed the service of Didier at breakfast each day.
Rooms - the rooms are truly made for relaxation. They are very much sound proof. I never heard my neighbors the entire stay. The beds will give you great sleep, and the sound system in the bathroom is a great touch. Be sure to keep the sliding door to your balcony closed as the flying grasshoppers will get inside your room otherwise.
Service - 90% of the service is absolutely amazing. It is a new property so there will be kinks that are getting worked out. Everyone is extremely nice and friendly. They don’t have a heavy hand, but instead a light touch, so they’re there when you need them but not overwhelmingly so. There were some hiccups on this front with my stay, but the manager Penelope handled them all to my satisfaction so I won’t get into detail on these. It truly matters how a property deals with issues, and Penelope handled them all well.
I spent 4 nights at this property during a very stressful time in my life. Even with my high stress the relaxing calmness that is Etereo, made it where I came home with a weight off of my shoulders. I will absolutely be back.

Our family visited Etereo the first week it opened and were blown away at what an amazing resort this is. The design and architecture were perfect.. nothing overlooked. The rooms were stunning and what you'd find in multi million dollar homes.. A setting in the mangroves made this isolated resort very restful, peaceful, and perfect for an escape from every day hustle of life. The dining options are limited but truly incredible. Everything is local, made from scratch and with virtually no refined sugars on other non-natural ingredients. What truly makes this resort stand out is the Staff. The staff are comfortably attentive and genuinely friendly. We we blown away with just how genuinely kind, friendly and excited to provide the best quality of service to you in a way that was comfortable. Jordi at the pool was a lot of fun and made our 15 year old son feel extra special, while Eduardo, Efrain, and Itzel (our Guia's) were extraordinary helpful and made our stay extra special recognizing our anniversary. This resort is essentially perfect for a peaceful, tranquil and quiet escape in the highest levels of luxury. We will be back...

We travelled to this resort for the first time at the end of October for a special celebration. (Sorry so late, holiday rush overtook us.) This resort did not disappoint for a wonderful getaway.
As this was a special occasion, the resort upgraded us to a suite, which was amazing. Everything was spotless, to the butler service and the room itself. We loved having two bathrooms to use at the same time with so much space. Due to this lovely room, we even tried one evening room service and had a meal in the room. Simply lovely. There is a small refrigerator that we placed our wine in and pop that we brought with that you need to take out some items but as long as they go back in you wont be charged. Typical bottle of water in the room for free but also some of the local drinks in the refrigerator are also free-check your card when you get there.
Our usual resort is Belmond Maroma, so that will be the comparison used in this review. The resorts are comprised mainly of 2, both with a similar feel. The food is very good, of course it is expensive, but this resort is doing well at keeping the price point high but also enticing with all the surrounding competition.
Service is excellent. We stayed at the beach beds as that is where we spend our days in Maroma. The beach had ample seating and even beach beds, but the view is not the same with it cut off with a cove and dock. The walk in has more rocks but nothing you can't manage barefoot. We liked being able to get more options of food at the beach her than Maroma and they had the little treats every so often also.
The wine tasting was fun but the complementary yoga and stretching is wonderful. Try all the complementary classes if you are able-they are above and beyond and tip well. They offer free coffee in the mornings-a cute little truck near the small store that you can't miss. You can make it any way you want and there is usually a design on the top you need to post.
If you like Maroma, this is a good option to branch out and try. If you like relaxing without loud parties this is for you. If you like top nock service at a higher price this is for you. Just over the top service makes this place special.
We are looking to return. Just a wonderful place.

From the moment we arrived at the front doors of Etereo, it was clear that the property and the staff would not be satisfied with anything short of a magical experience. The attention to detail of the property design was incredible. The room was comfortable with a beautiful view of the property and the beach, constantly inviting us to explore beyond our room. My wife and I each enjoyed a fantastic massage at the unique Sana to kickoff our stay. That proved to be the perfect introduction to rejuvenating days spent poolside and on the white beach. The staff was attentive to every need - always at the ready to encourage exploration of the local food and drink. Etereo connected us with a cenote tour, which further challenged our senses with a one of a kind experience. Etereo is an experience that should not be missed.

After staying one night at a hotel in Tulum where we experienced issues with noise, we moved up the coast to Etereo where we enjoyed a brilliant stay in the essence of tranquility. The pool and hotel grounds are gorgeous, the views of the coast are stunning, the food is delicious, and the service is impeccable. I wish we had been able to take advantage of a free activity that the hotel offers - to kayak out to the cenote just offshore, with a hotel guide, and to go snorkeling at the cenote. Be sure to reserve your kayak tour time in advance, as they book up. Loved that the hotel is nestled in a protected grove of mangroves - we enjoyed the peacefulness of the location and the bird watching.

My husband and I chose Etereo over St. Regis Kanai due to its closeness to the water. Etereo has great direct ocean view rooms. We were kindly upgraded to the Ocean Suite and absolutely loved the room. The Etereo team is very friendly and accommodating and we would absolutely return but definitely not in June. JUNE is HOT!!!! Thank goodness we had a beautiful suite w/ veranda to enjoy otherwise I think I would have been miserable! Like all Mexico properties it is also very expensive so if you want to stay here know food is definitely going to set you back a pretty penny. There was not one bottle of wine that was under $100 USD. Food was good but the best part was Taco Night. Yes, the beach is not really swimmable due to the sargasm that they do work very hard to remove daily. Etereo is a great luxury boutique property you should not pass up.

I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the Taco Night Experience, one of our unique offerings. It is always our goal to provide our guests with memorable and enjoyable experiences, and we are glad that we were able to achieve that during your stay. Additionally, I would like to express our gratitude for your understanding of the challenge posed by sargassum along some coastal areas. We make every effort to maintain the beach for your enjoyment. This resort is breathtaking. Even our 11 and 13 year old boys were in awe from the moment we arrived. The welcome greeting and all of the Mayan traditions are so special and unique. The staff is the friendliest staff. Everyone from your personal concierge (Guia) to waiters, housekeeping and gardeners are so kind and warm. The beach and pool area have more than enough seating and it feels very exclusive, and never crowded. It's a very intimate experience. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation, where you feel totally pampered with the best service around! The only drawback is that the food is VERY expensive. (Burger night was $40 for a burger and that didn't even come with fries!). So just don't be surprised. They do have a kids menu at all meals, and things are under $20/meal. Our family enjoyed this vacation so much and we took advantage of the photography shoot since we had not had family photos in ages. Armando the photographer was amazing and captured the best photos of the 4 of us. Stunning pics! Stay here and you will be very happy with your choice. It's a 5 Star Experience, for sure!

We stayed five days at Etereo and appreciated the intimate atmosphere of the hotel - it was never crowded nor overwhelming. You really felt that one could relax here - kids were separated from adults only areas, plus there was always a place to sit by the pool or beach. Being this type of property, it is on the more expensive side vs. most established hotels in the area but on par cost wise to the Edition and St. Regis next door.
The rooms are a nice size, designed well. You are above the coastal scrub the envelopes the area - providing a sense of being part of nature vs. disrupting it (vs. St. Regis next door). There are really only two restaurants for the 75 rooms (Mexican and Japanese fusion) but with the theme dinner nights (particularly the Abuela and Tacology dinners) this is enough variety. Service was in general good.
The hotel also organizes events onsite (e.g. cooking classes) as well as off site excursions. We took advantage of both (onsite and offsite) and enjoyed all of them. These are not cheap but the quality was good.
Overall, we would definitely return.

The hotel also organizes events onsite (e.g. cooking classes) as well as off site excursions. We took advantage of both (onsite and offsite) and enjoyed all of them. These are not cheap but the quality was good.
Overall, we would definitely return.

We used royal transfers it was round trip about 200 with tip and a coupon.
shallow crystal clear water. No rocks.
0/10 on the beach—they put borderline too much work into clearing the sand. It’s like you see in pictures.
2/10 in the water in Oct—not an issue but you can notice a little if you’re on alert for it.
There were decent vegetarian options during our stay in January 2023. We are pescatarian, which gave us more options, but felt that the vegetarian options were well considered and not an after thought.
I would say not the best for swimming. The employees were cleaning the sea grass out, but there were still patches of it.
