Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely view just by the beach. Amenities was clean. Didn't like the fact that there were quite a number of odd job foreign workers staying here, and were using the kitchen to cook their dinner and next few days worth of food. Had to pay to get hot water from the showers and the games room closed pretty early here, coupled with the fact that gate closes early and no cars are allowed in after 9pm, so that was essentially nothing to do late at night.

As camp owners we focus on ensuring we maintain a safe and peaceful environment for our campers. This does mean we do close the gates at 9 pm during week days, and 10 pm on the weekends. This is in order to minimise movement of traffic while people are trying to sleep. We would add that we have extended the numbers of after hours car parks and that it is a very short walk to our facilities. In the case of motor homes, we encourage people to let us know if they are going to something late and arrange to let them in when they get back. Our large communal kitchen is available to all campers and can be busy at times. During busy periods we have developed extra facilities to meet the demand. The showers are in the process of being upgraded and in the near future we will no longer charge for our showers. The games room has a time frame to ensure the campers nearby are ensured peace and quiet, however it is often opened for special requests such as rugby games etc.

After reading previous reviews we weren't to keen to book a night to stay in our camper here, but after ringing and booking only a couple of hours before arrival we were pleasantly surprised as is under new owners and everything was such a breeze, even a late check in. Camp facilities are average and does cost 50c for a shower but it's not a 5star hotel. Still very comfortable and friendly. Lovely location and not far from the city. I would recommend this place to others.

This is a lovely spot to come and relax away from the Auckland city rat race. The staff are friendly and helpful and the facilities are kept lovely and clean. Bookings necessary in summer season. There are several cabins as well as camp sites for tents and motor homes.

Lovely little spot for an off season weekend. Helpful staff. Kitchen and bathroom facilities were immaculately clean. The kids loved having the go-carts to hire and because the site was pretty quiet they could ride them around with no problems. There's crazy golf, and a games/tv room too.
Great little reserve area on the back specifically to walk/exercise the dog which was a BIG bonus.
Decent walk to the village for a coffee and fish and chips, time it right and you can walk the beach instead of the road to get there.

Second time back and loved it as much as the first. Really clean facilities - those cleaning ninjas you never seem to see but keep the bathrooms and kitchen spotless. Kids loved the kayaks, big kids loved the karts, mums loved the couches by the pool when supervising our swimmers. So much to do at this spot - a must stay place.

Last stop of touring holiday and before returning our campervan. A fair way off the main route but nice quiet area with good flat pitch to finish off our holiday. The owners were so friendly and are looking to continually to upgrade. We were pleased to find that they were happy for us to leave any unused goodies for other visitors to make use of which is better than having to throw them away. We only used the bathroom facilities and they were fine. There was a restaurant within walking distant but you may need a torch as it was pretty dark on the return walk. A nice site for our last night.

Last minute decision to go camping and managed to get a double site to share with friends. Powered sites were a great size, very level/flat and loved the hedges between sites. Facilities were a little tired but it seems as owners maybe doing these up - they were however immaculate and cleaned regularly. Games room was popular with the kids and a good size compared to some we have seen. Pool was great to have but bit cold for us adults to try swimming. Kids enjoyed hiring the carts. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The campsite was neat to explore and looked like lots of options for people to stay in. Husbands and kids had a ball with the golf course so close. Fishing was fun all though not that successful for us that day ha ha ha. Too cold to swim but can imagine in summer the beach would be amazing, lots of games of vortex and soccer at the field across from the camp. Loved the way the camp was quiet enough to settle kids at night with the 10pm rule. Heard the odd planes but have lived far closer to and airport than that so did not think they were an issue at all as noted by some. Fish and chips up the road were divine, shops a few minutes away for a few more supplies. Definitely a place to go back to in the future and look forward to seeing what the owners do to it each year. Maybe ice creams to buy at the camp office would be lovely - thanks for having us :)

Thanks for your review. Glad you all had a nice time. We are going to be taking on board all suggestions. It may take a few years to do all of them. But we aim to focus on cleanliness and friendliness in the mean time. We are trying to warm the pool with the black pipes on the roof and the pool cover.

We had a quick trip to Auckland recently and stayed out at Clarks Beach. We had a great time and were well looked after by the hosts. We were in a motel unit and had a great view of the water and the sunrise.

We stayed at this campsite in January. The campsite itself has good facilities. It was clean and there was plenty of room for storing food and cooking. Showers and toilets were great and the pool looked really clean and inviting. Perfect first night stay in Auckland if you want to have a stop over before a long drive elsewhere or to explore the Manukau Heads. The greatest thing about this campsite was how thoughtful the owners were. We were caught out by a freak storm. Whilst we were huddled together in our tent wondering if we would get blown away or soaked, the owners kept checking on us and eventually we took them up on their offer of sleeping in the bunks in their back room. They couldn't have been more helpful to us and we massively appreciated their kindness as we were travelling with my 9 year old son and he was really scared! Definitely worth a visit !!! You never know when things will turn rough and having people that our kind and thoughtful makes all the difference.
