The positive is that the hotel was clean and the room although it had electrical wires as the main view was ok. We paid with Hilton Honors points so i assume that the view rooms are for paying guests... It was the only one of...More
Probably the absolute best staff, clean, and fully functioning Hampton Inn (HI) we have ever stayed in. The staff makes the hotel. They are friendly, helpful, and so very knowledgeable of the area. We walked the 1.7 miles to the Maritime Museum. The desk person...More
I visited Bath, Maine on a combination business/pleasure trip, and had the great fortune to stay at the Hampton Inn Bath. I was overwhelmed by the kindness and courtesy show by each and every member of the hotel staff. The check-in and check-out process was...More
This hotel exemplifies the consistent quality of Hampton Inns, only more so. Our room was spotless and roomy, the staff were friendly and helpful, our room had a lovely view of the Kennebec River, and there’s a good seafood restaurant right across the street.

I would recommend Bath/Brunswick as a good hub from which to enjoy two of the three items you mentioned. The beach at the state park is really one of the better ones on the coast. Plus the shopping in Freeport is very extensive. However, if amusement parks are higher on your list, then use a spot closer to Portland, so you can be closer to Old Orchard Beach. So, it really depends on which of your three focus areas are most important for your family.
